Starting Trouble Without Meaning To.

She had been brought to the academy upon short notice. The academy had been made aware of her past and that maybe not all habits have died yet. But as far as she was concerned, she was now innocent and had wiped clean the slate. Kyo walked around the paths nothing particular in mind. She headed down path after path. Until she spotted someone stealing from a person. The 14 year old dream manipulator ran in the direction of the thief, having a past such as hers it made it easier to relate to the thieves, but she left that behind when the grocer took her in. Running with the speed only a thief has she easily caught up with the thief.

The thief was armed, and masked. Okay, they're armed so what. I have the exact same skills as a thief. Kyo thought as she quickly swept her leg around under the thief's legs letting them fall to the ground. Quickly placing her foot on the thief's neck and holding down the hand with the weapon in it, Kyo retrieved the stolen item. An alarmed shout gave the thief time to take Kyo by surprise and took off running, leaving Kyo with the consequences.

Kyo knew she had to stay put and let herself get caught so it'd make things easier when she tried to explain what happened, but old habits kicked in, she took off down path after path in the courtyard, coming to a giant tree, quickly stuffing the retrieved stolen item in her pocket she climbed the tree with amazing speed and grace, that only a thief had. Settling on a branch, Kyo took out the stolen item to have a look at it. It was a velvet covering. Blue velvet covering, and inside the covering was a a thin gold ring with a gem on it. Kyo looked carefully at the gem. It was a sapphire. And it was real. The thief must have thought to acquire it and sell it for some money.

Kyo looked down at the lady at the base of the tree staring up at Kyo angrily. Taking a quick look to the left she saw the academy. Someone was coming out of the academy and was heading towards the courtyard, towards the tree she was sitting in.

Kyo thought she was in deep trouble now. Just because someone says they'll let on off slightly doesn't mean they will. But Kyo had no choce, it was either cause more trouble by defying the request to give back what she had supposedly stolen or just give back what was stolen and at least try to explain what had happened. Kyo was young, and she did have a thieving past, so there was little chance she would be believed. Her neutral red eye colouring changed to a warm red apologetic shade. Kyo climbed down the tree not wanting to make things worse and returned the ring to whom it belonged. The lady walked off with a 'humph.'

Kyo turned to the other girl, "you must hear what I have to say! And if you're someone from the academy there's little chance you'll believe me." Kyo said looking down her eyes now gone from the warm red to the dull/dusty red of sadness and confusion. "There was another thief who originally took the item. They were armed and masked, I was only trying to return the item, but the shouts...old habits kicked in. I'm trying to turn over a new leaf, I really am. I know I'm young and that can sway what people believe, but please don't report it to the academy!" Kyo begged, finally lifting her eyes to meet the other girl's gaze.

Kyo looked up feeling relieved. Her eyes returned to a natural red. "My name is Kyo Katashi. Though just Kyo is fine." Kyo said. She didn't know if she should say anything else or not. This girl had let her off, and so some kind of thanks must be said. "Uh..I really appreciate you not reporting me, even if you don't believe me. I've been trying to avoid this..." She gestured around the area and what had just happened, including her story. "for four years, I never thought habits would kick in...but uh..that's beside the point. Thanks...again miss?" Kyo thought it best to be a little formal and she had tilted her head when she inquired the name of the girl before her.

So far the day had really been odd. Well, for her anyway. Who knows what other people will think. Still, it was hard trying to start over, even if she had started over four years ago, old habits die hard so they say.
