"Look at that one. It's so bright," Anna lifted an arm and pointed to one of the stars that hung like little jewels in the velvety night sky. She and Anatolii sat side by side on the school's roof, engaging in a pastime that she remembered fondly from their teenage years together in foster care - even if he didn't remember it, she couldn't have forgotten the dear friend she'd made all those years ago. She was happy to have him around again. They'd been hanging out rather often lately, mostly due to Anna's insistence, but Anatolii had never seemed to mind. They'd explored the school and some of the town outside of it by now. She liked spending time with him.

"We used to do this a lot, after everyone else went to sleep," she told him, nudging him gently with her shoulder and smiling. "I think I can see the Little Dipper. It's..." she raised her hand once more and traced the shape that the stars were making, "there. Sometimes, when we couldn't sleep, we'd try to count all the stars. There were always too many." A light breeze blew her raven locks back from her shoulders. She gazed out into the vast horizon, taking it all in. Her wings were out, folded up neatly at her back. She'd been considering going for a flight later, but for now, she was happy to just sit here and stare at the sky.

Anatolii liked the roof, it gave him a good view of the sprawling campus as well as the night sky. It was relaxing to him, he was content to sit out on the roof all night. Not only was he view good to look at, so was his company. His internal struggle to not tell Anna that she was attractive was still there, as it was anytime he spent time around her. However, he had found that if he just let it run roughshod over his inner monologue then he could avoid referring to Anna as a beautiful duck. He was going to consider that a plus.

Anatolii listened as Anna explained was a certain group of stars was and how this was evidently an old routine of theirs, he wished he could remember all of this but wasn't going to let that distract him from enjoying what was currently happening. "It certainly is a wonderful view. Thank you for bringing me here." Over his short stay at the school, Anatolii had taken quite a liking to the assorted conversations and activities he and Anna shared. It made life a little easier for him when he was relaxed, when he didn't have to spend time thinking about everything.

"I may not be able to remember the last time we did this, but I'm certainly going to remember this time." Even if it took every ounce of energy Anatolii had, he wasn't going to let a second slip by.

Anna smiled and leaned back a little, pulling her knees up and folding her arms around them. "I should hope so," she told him. "But even if you don't, that's okay. If you woke up tomorrow and forgot, I'd just drag you up here every night and make the memory happen all over again." She would never get tired of it.

She rocked to the side and bumped Anatolii playfully with her bare shoulder, the contact allowing her to briefly shoot her emotions into him. She was happy, relaxed...nostalgic. All he would get was a brief, painless shock of it, but she'd done it on purpose. It was easier to share how she felt with people by just making them feel it themselves for a short time, rather than trying to use words.

"I know you don't remember them, but my brothers say hello," she added after a moment of silence. "They didn't remember you a whole lot either, since they were so young, but they remembered your name." Anatolii had a name that was hard to forget. She gave a soft hum and her eyes followed the lights of a plane as it passed overhead in the night sky.

"At some point, we'd have to go to sleep." Anatolii jested, "And I don't think that roofs make very good beds." He didn't mind it too much, if he had to sleep outside every now and again then that's what he would do. So long as the weather was nice, he was pretty sure that he could sleep outside. He had slept outside in poor weather, it wasn't a very fun time.

When Anna bumped him, Anatolii was hit with a quick wave of emotion. There was happiness and he could feel relaxation. He was confused at first by what was happening, wondering why there was a sudden flood of all these plesant emotions. It took him a second, but then he remembered she had explained her power. He didn't know why she had done it, but he was okay with the fact that she had done it.

"Well, next time you speak to them, tell them I said hi." If they were all as close as Anna had led him to believe, then Anatolii was certainly going to to be polite and say hello. "We'll have to meet and get reintroduced again. I'm sure they're just as charming as you are."

Anna was grateful for the darkness as a warmth spread over her cheeks, and she felt a tickle in her stomach. Her arms tightened a little around her knees as she blushed. Was...was he flirting with her? Nobody flirted with Anna. Or, at least, she was usually too oblivious to notice when someone was flirting with her. She turned her head to look at him with a mildly surprised and flustered expression before quickly pulling her eyes away from him.

"U-uh...yeah. I mean, they...they're fully human, they don't know about all the magic stuff. But I'll tell them you said hi. We talk on Skype at least once a week." She glanced at her shoes and tapped her toes lightly against the ground. She wasn't sure what else to say. Her wings ruffled involuntarily at her back, making her body shiver a little. It was warm out, so she couldn't blame it on the cold. She looked up again at the bright star she'd picked out of the sky earlier. "I think that one's a planet," she said.

"Hm, you're siblings are like mine. Neither of my brothers can do my little power thingy." Supposedly Anatolii's reactive adaptation was a recessive trait, which is why he alone had it but his two brothers did not. "If I ever get the chance, you'll have to meet Marko. My best friend and brother should probably meet at some point." Anatolii was completely unaware that he his compliment to Anna had been construed by Anna as something more than a compliment.

However, her shiver on what seemed to be a warm night did catch Anatolii's attention. "You cold? Cuz I don't have a jacket but I'm sure I could run back down into the building and find something." Maybe she was just thin blooded. If that was the case, then they were going to seriously have to rethink their setup the next time they did this.

Anna shook her head, shaking away the thoughts with it. It would be silly if he flirted with her. They were friends. Just friends. There was no reason for him to do so. They only liked each other as friends. Anna gave a short laugh and rubbed her arms, "Nah, just...random chills, I think." It was only a tiny white lie. She didn't have to share her inner monologue all the time.

She smiled. He'd called her his best friend, and she'd caught that despite the ramblings in her head. "I'd love to meet him some time," she said, feeling warm inside. This must have been why she'd reacted like that. She was just happy and warm because they were such good friends. That was all.

"I've been practicing my flying. I can do some pretty cool things," she changed the subject, stretching her wings out and shaking them a little to free herself from the last tingles of the chill that had run through her. "I'm still working on the landing part, though. I've made some strides, I'm just not quite there yet." It was easier to land in a tree or something vertical than it was on the ground. "I've thought about going to the library, I might see what kind of...aviation books they have. Might help," she shrugged. Maybe she'd do that tomorrow, if nothing else came up.

"Marko is a lot like you, real easy going, always chipper." Maybe that was why Anatolii and Anna got along so well. "I don't think I've ever referred to my brother as a duck though." Maybe he had, he doubted it. The more they spoke, the more positive he was becoming that he actually may be starting to give into the errant thoughts that nagged at him about how attractive she was.

"You should see if you can find a flight simulator, maybe that might help. Although, they may not have a simulator for actual flying people." Anatolii was glad that she had been working more on her flying, as she progressed and achieved more she seemed more and more proud of it. "Next thing you know, you're going to picking small birds and bugs out the air for lunch."

Little did the pair know that another was nearby, poring over notes in the chilly night, a smile on his face and earbuds stuck in his ears. He had no idea Anatolia and Anna were ther.
Or maybe that was because, currently, another was shaking his hand out. Because it was being kind of burnt. Ouch. Hell, it was even still sparking like a livewire.
A huff came from the pyrokinetic, along with a quiet growl as he shook his hand, trying to get the sparks off. "C'mon. Trent'll kill me if I don't get this thing in check," he mumbled to himself, glaring at his hand. How dare it betray him, burning his own hand. God, was he that stupid?
Another swig of coffee, down the hatch. If Nix didn't really hit the books, he'd fail the course. Mean, he coulda just asked Anna to help out with the studying... But eh. She'd probably have better things to-
"Damnit!" Nix hissed, trying to be quiet, as literally the entire cup of coffee spilled onto his already-burnt hand. What. A. Mess. At least his notes had survived.
God, he was dumb too.
"Welp," he whispered, in an attempt to not wake up hundred of students below him, "better go get some replacement coffee." Hhhhh. Nix could tell - he wasn't gonna get any sleep tonight, if the coffee had anything to say about it.

Anna laughed in response, "I don't think so; I prefer seafood." The thought of catching bugs or other small animals turned her stomach a little. She wouldn't intentionally harm anything if she could help it. All things had a right to grow, or something like that. She'd read that in a book somewhere, she thought.

She blinked as a familiar voice hit her ears. "I know that voice," she stood up and walked around the roof access door to find Nix sitting there. He'd spilled his coffee - something she'd begun to think was usual for him. "Nix?" she blinked at him, a couple of loose feathers fluttering to the ground from her wings. "Hey. You okay?"
