Oddleif was not sure that she could ever get used to this ... to the silence. With the arrival of nightfall, the Starlight Academy and its people retired to their homes, leaving the grounds empty and desolate. A cool wind breezed by, bringing with it the distant songs of crickets and nightingales, but the lights were small and scattered, the moon reigning supreme in its pallor.
And yet, Oddleif had never seen a darker night than this. In her previous life, it was after the sun went down that everything came to life - laughter and lights, shows and games, dancing and music ... the transition from being a part of the circus to being the new girl in this place was ... horrifying, really, but Odd wouldn't be caught dead admitting that she was afraid.
She couldn't just tuck herself into bed and fall asleep so easily - not only was she restless because of her moving to an unfamiliar place, but also because at this hour, where people were starting to doze off in their rooms, she was expected to be fully awake and alert, once. She decided to expend her energy by exploring the grounds - she wondered whether she could find any secrets now that there was nobody to distract her, or tell her off. The energetic teen found a door leading up some stairs, which she had followed eagerly, only to arrive on the rooftop of one of the buildings ... she wasn't sure which. There were plenty of details that she needed to hammer out in her mind, but then again nobody expected her to know the place by heart on her very first day.
There was something else she did not expect - and that was the presence of another on the roof, probably star-gazing towards the clear sky above ... or for whatever other purpose. Oddleif wasn't the suspicious kind, but she was aware this was a school of magic and other oddities - she never knew what to expect, and her imagination ran wild enough to draw incredibly-unlikely conclusions.
... but even so, she wasn't particularly keen on listening to the voice of reason, giving in to her curiosity instead - rather than skulk in the shadows and observe, the ashen-haired teen shyly stepped forward as she called out. "Hello?"
