
Over time, red became more and more like a shadow blob as the tendrils engulfed her completely, following the mask's trail and slowly gaining distance. One moment was all she needed. One moment of incompetency from the mask and it'd be all over.
"Yes, run while you still can." She couldn't go her full speed, not when there were so many lights. It wasn't advisable to be giving chase under so much light in the first place. People could see her and if the wrong type of person were to see her hunting like this, then she'd have to deal with the police and she was sure she'd be sent back to that islet.
She needed a long stretch of shade if she wanted any hope of catching up, or at least catching the mask by surprise. That, or an alley she could use as a shortcut while the mask wasn't paying attention.
