Shay sat in the library in the orphanage, sitting in one of the chairs with a book open on the table in front of her. She was nibbling her lower lip, pencil in hand. Next to the book was a fat stack of homework. She sighed and looked at the book and the paper, but couldn't manage to become interested in her school work.

Her mind was off elsewhere, imagining all the things she'd seen lately and all the people she'd been speaking to. There were dark circles under her eyes, and she had to keep rubbing at her eyes to try and ebb away the redness in them. She took a moment to look around the library and see if anyone was around.

She was glad Jerry wasn't there, the six-year-old little brat who lived at the orphanage. He was generally in front of the tv, though, and had few interests away from it.

The library was on the smaller side, and most of the books were old and tattered, but Shay had never had an issue finding books she enjoyed here. The place had many of te old classics and a few newer age books, but if Shay needed something from the past decade she tended to go to the real library.

Tony was sitting in his room in the orphanage. He had done some of his homework and was now debating going to the library or not. He missed the study at his old estate. Tony missed a lot of things about the estate. He was usually one of the only people down in the library so he decided to go. He made sure to grab his notepad and pencil incase someone bothered him.

When he walked in the library he saw someone sitting with what looked like a whole lot of homework. He lifted his hand slightly and wiggled a few fingers but went to grab a book. After choosing The Martian Tony glanced around the room. He usually sat where the other person was sitting. Tony is a major creature of habit and didn't really know what to do. He could sit somewhere else but where? Tony didn't realize he was staring.

Shay felt she was being stared at. When she looked up, her eyebrows rose when she met the boys eyes. She peered around, trying to figure out why he was staring. "Hello?" she said, trying not to come off...as she normally came off. "Is something wrong?"

"Is something wrong?"

Tony froze. Did she just talk to him? No one ever talks to Tony... Mainly because he doesn't talk but still. Tony grabbed his notepad that was in his pocket and started to write a response as he walked up to her.

Sorry I don't really talk... Well physically can but well, I just don't. I must have been staring at you. Sorry about that. I usually sit there so yeah....

Tony sheepishly handed the notepad to the girl and waited for her to read it.

Despite that Shay wore her gloves, she still took the notepad more gingerly than might have been normal. That was just a force of habit. She read what he had said and looked up at him. Her expression wasn't unkind though it was distant.

After a moment more of staring, Shay gathered the things in front of her into a neater pile and moved them across the table, where she moved to sit, allowing him to have his seat. She passed the notebook back to him.

"That's fine," she told him once she had situated. "I'm not a big talker, most of the time, anyway. I'm Shay. It's nice to meet you." She didn't intend to try and force him to speak. She understood how terrible that could be, living in one's own personal hell.

Tony smiled slightly when the girl moved her stuff to make room for him. He sat down next to her and took the notepad back.

"I'm not a big talker, most of the time, anyway. I'm Shay. It's nice to meet you."

Tony nodded and started writing in the notepad again.

"Thanks, it's nice to meet you too. I'm Tony Knight and yes I'm related to "those" Knight's. I'm technically heir to the entire family fortune. You doing homework?"

He slid the notepad over to Shay with a smile.

Again, Shay took the notepad and read carefully. The Knights, huh? She was surprised no one had grabbed him up. Didn't he have any family left at all? Didn't another powerful family want him? Shay decided it was better not to mention those things for now.

She held the notepad back out to him, nodding. "Yeah. A lot of it. I'm writing one of those stupid essays about my hero. The problem is, I don't think I have one." She picked up her pencil, nibbling her lower lip as she glowered at her paper. "These are the worst. So why are you up so late?"
