"Yes," Havoc confirmed, a small ball of fire popping into existence just in front of his face. Before he'd have made a physical gesture to ground it and make it easier, but simply making an indicator that he could (especially one that winked out moments later) was second nature by that point.

Havoc considered the advice. He'd never given the differences between fire and wind that sort of thought. Really, he'd just taken things at face value and treated them identically. But even if you ignored the spiritual side of things--the idea that the wind had a personality (which he supposed it did, because he was looking at it))--the fact remained that fire and wind did act fundamentally differently. Fire had to be tamed or else it would spread and grow out of control, something that would never be a problem with air.

"Hard control, like driving a car, versus soft control like riding a horse," Havoc said, his very basic attempt to repeat back what he'd gotten from Sky's explanation. "Would that be about right?"
