"Erase...? Huh?" She blinked several times in a second, then took in the rest of Dorian's words. "Yeah! That's why... That's why I thought you got this for me? Did you place it wrong? Was it supposed to be in the bag?"

Curiosity took over her excitement. Actually, the two mingled and mixed after her initial surprise left. She carefully sat her pillow down on a clear table. While messing with her brand-new-mysterious fidget dice, she walked over to Dorian to see what his brand-new-mysterious paper was.

Dorian shook his head, his lips drawing together in a thin line. "No, I mean. I didn't get that fidget cube for you. I just did the pillow and the blanket. I... don't know who put that in there. Did you put this-" he asked, holding up the paper that he'd gotten, "in that last painting you made for me?"

If the way Charlotte scrunched up her nose and squinted at the paper didn't give Dorian an answer, her next words certainly did: "Nope! I only wanted to paint something nice for you. I'd never gift someone my handwriting. What's on the paper? If it's a secret, I promise that I'm great at keeping those." Another benefit of being a broken KEM0? Old men would tell her all sorts of stuff, and sometimes she remembered them, sometimes she didn't. When she did, she knew better than to spread words around.

"No it's not a secret," Dorian said, looking at the paper. He showed the text to Charlotte, saying, "Erase," so that it vanished and then, "Previous," to make it come back again.

"I think it's like a magic... I dunno. Magic undo button? I'm not really sure, but- hm..."

Taking out a pen, Dorian marked the corner of the paper and then said, "Erase," again. Surprisingly, everything vanished, which made his eyebrows shoot up a bit.

Charlotte gasped at the magic on display, paused, then nodded her head slowly at Dorian. "Yeeeah. I know nothing about magic. I have a lot of money from saving up my allowance, but I don't know if I could buy magical undo paper."

As she spoke, an idea popped into her mind. The way she straightened up almost made a light bulb visible above her head. "It's paper CTRL-Z! Because you're an artist! Are you able to save paintings on this? Or is it only good for erasing mistakes?"

Dorian hadn't thought about that, whether he could save paintings on this slip of paper. "You know, you might be right. I wonder then..."

"Erase," he said again, taking a seat and grabbing a sketch pencil off of the art table. He didn't mind Charlotte being near him, and in fact turned to look at her for a moment to get a little inspiration.

He started drawing, making a very loose sketch of a puppy that was, strangely, wearing a dog kigurumi.

Once he was done, he let Charlotte see the cute little sketch, grinning a bit before using the command words to erase and then bring it back. This was actually kind of fun, even if it was a little concerning. Like a puzzle, almost.

"Seems like someone might've seen our secret Santa submissions and slipped extra gifts into the ones we were giving?"

Charlotte was absolute memerized by Dorian sketching. He made a line. And then it connected to another line! And then those lines made a whole picture. Amazing. Even more amazing was how steady his hand was as it quickly glided across the page.

Only when he finished did Charlotte realize what was drawn. "We match! That's adorable," she laughed.

She took a few more moments to admire the artwork before responding to what Dorian said. "It bet it's a gift our us joining. Do they do this every year? It'd be really expensive, I think. Oh! Oh wait. Aren't you worried that other drawings will be erased if you say the command? It'd be like... like... saving a file over another file!"

"I don't know," he admitted, looking at the sketch in his hand. Dorian had a few emotions running through his head: he was happy that Charlotte liked his drawing of her, but that was tempered by his confusion and not insignificant concern at someone being able to slip a gift into his gift without him noticing. Either they'd broken into his locker earlier in the day or they'd snuck into his garage before he bagged up the pillow. Neither was especially comforting.

"This is my first Christmas here, so I don't know how they do their secret Santa things yet. But even if this paper writes over old drawings, I can like. Scan them or take a photo of them or something. I just wish I knew who'd done this, ya know?"

"What if it was Santa?" Charlotte smiled at Dorian, then frowned, then smiled again. "I'm being serious. This is Manta Carlos! Where magic and fantasy and everything is real. Santa must be real, and he must've given us these gifts."

Dorian stared at the paper for a long minute after Charlotte spoke. His brow furrowed intensely because... she was right. Like, logically he'd known Santa wasn't real for years but... was he? He laughed- a half nervous, half amused sound, and shook his head. "I... I guess?! I don't know if Santa is real or not. I always assumed he wasn't, but-"

He just shook his head. "I don't know."
