It was amusing to see the girl walk up to him to touch his tail, looking as if he was going to spring a bear trap from it, and then after brushing the fur for a moment, she simply fired question after question like a fireworks factory during a firestorm. "Whoa, whoa, whoa there, one at a time," he laughed. "I come from another, smaller island that's kind of the same as Manta Carlos, much closer to Japan, not that you can find it on any map. And yeah, almost everyone looks like this. Well, if you aren't too picky about how some have more tails than others. Though, not all of the people there are Kitsune, but it was all ours to begin with. Some others found a home there, and we've welcomed most of them. Recently, anyway." "Yeah, soft things are nice. During the cold seasons, we actually sleep on each other's tails in a big group. I know, that sounds weird, but its all tradition. Some couples prefer only each other, and it ends up looking quite--um, actually, I don't think I should say it, but feel free to use your imagination. That may have been too much information."

Blushing slightly upon realizing she should slow herself down, Amia decided perhaps she should remain quiet for a moment. As such, she forced herself to shut down and listen to what he was saying, and in truth it was extremely fascinating. There were so many lands and creatures she'd never heard of before; she felt massively privileged to be speaking to someone new like this.

Giggling at the description of couples, she began to wring her hands once more. A million more questions were exploding into her head, almost making her dizzy with all the excitement. However, to her own great surprise she managed to settle on just a few, and began her fast paced monotone once more.

"Whoa, really? A distant island? That's so fascinating! How do people discover it if it can't be found on a map? Is it all by accident? What is it like there?"

After a brief second of thought, her speech amazingly slowed down for once. Her words were more carefully placed now, and a slightly nostalgic tone entered her voice.

"I don't... really come from anywhere so special. I was born in Japan, then lived in Canada for most of my life until I arrived here. I was apart of a group who rescued abused members of my species and brought them up together. It was nice, really. I miss it sometimes."

Another silence, before she suddenly gave a shake to her head and body and provided a goofy smile. Perhaps that was already too much to say about herself - was she being annoying? It was rather in her nature to infodump at random like this. With a bit of a nervous squeak her eyes traveled to her shoes, which began to tap incessantly as if trying to channel her anxious energy.

Well, it looked like she understood what he meant about the couples. No big surprise, but she did look as if she was planning something devious with the way she was wringing her hands. After he said his piece, she went on to tell him about where she's from, and he was pleasantly surprised, well, after she asked a few more rapidfire questions. "We could almost have been island neighbors. Heck, we could have ran into each other too if you stayed in Japan. I helped keep some of the shrines found there intact, not normal people could see me. So, you're a rescuer, huh? If you don't mind me asking, what is your species? But before you answer, I should answer your questions first, shouldn't I?" He rewound a bit to remember what her questions were. "Well, the point is that no one should have known about it, except for select few people who the elders trust, usually head priests or priestesses from a big shrine. Some people did find it by accident, usually they wash up after their boat sinks, and we take care of them, but they're not allowed to leave. At least not without having their minds wiped. And to be honest, it was a great place. Fewer kinds of species, but I suppose people would call it mystical. Definitely more beautiful than a city and definitely has more fresh air."

"Wow... Memories wiped? Really? Must be a real big secret!"

Amia giggled to herself, before turning to focus on Ater's own questions. His island sounded extremely interesting, and she continually wanted to know more and more. However, she supposed she should pitch in her own answers as well. It had been ages since she'd talked about herself in this fashion, and doing so gave her quite a strange feeling? Was it excitement? Discomfort? A mixture of many things? Well, considering her nature, the latter was most likely. However, she took a deep breath and gradually began to speak, starting slow and eventually speeding up to her usual rapid and energetic tempo.

"Well... My species is something called the Indigo Children. We're a race of genetically modified humans that first began centuries ago, back when an ancient magic guy made a deal with a demon to grant himself abilities. We're sort of descendants of his, yknow? Because of the demon's gift, each one of us has a unique supernatural ability. We tend to be misunderstood a lot 'cause of those abilities. Lots of us grew up in abusive homes, so the Indigo Children Society was a place that rescued us! My dad..."

Then she choked. She hasn't intended at all to begin talking about her father, a topic that set her sour like absolutely none other. However, now that she had started infodumping it was extremely difficult to stop herself, and she pushed out the rest of her words in a rushed hurry, before staring at her hands and rapidly digging at the palms of her hands.

"...My daddy did experiments on indigo children. I was his main subject. So that's... that's how I ended up there."

"Weeeeeell, the people back then didn't really trust humans all that much with that much knowledge. Something about making others their servants and they couldn't risk losing their home to them." He listened to Amy's story and he was amazed. An old dude made a deal with a demon and now his descendants are scattered all over the place with some of his magical powers. He was curious if that demon was a Nyrrava because that would be something one of his kin would do. But surely their power wouldn't be so diluted that he couldn't sense them? Or perhaps his own senses were dulled from his spirit's banishment. He became concerned when the girl suddenly choked on her words when came the topic of her father, and he was dismayed at what he had heard. "That's--pardon my language--fucked up. Point me to him and I'll make his life a living hell."

A bitter laugh escaped Amia's lips, as her mood plummeted to the ground with the force of a hurricane. All at once she was overwhelmed with a surge of new emotions - anger, regret, fear, and anxiety being only a few of them. What now? She felt as if she'd just polluted the conversation by rushing into the topic of her father, and now it was too late to fix her collapsed mental state. Voices were starting to swirl from within. Voices whispering to her what an idiot she was.

She couldn't help but emit a small laugh, however, upon hearing his reaction. The idea of this new friend coming for her father was an amusing one to her. She shook her head in response, and tried desperately to hide the shaking in her voice.

"Ehe... I wish you could. But, it's okay. He's already dead. He - he died when I was 8."

It didn't quite seem appropriate to explain exactly how and why he had died, so she managed to keep her mouth shut when it cane to that topic. However, now she felt absolutely terrible about having taken such a negative turn both in the conversation and in her own mood. Furiously clawing at her palms, her ears and tail had shifted back to that of a black cat, and both were twitching wildly.

"I... I'm sorry. I really shouldn't have brought that up."

A lot of things escaped Ater, but this--Amy's reaction, didn't. He tried to pull it towards a light-hearted feel, but that didn't pan out. Her dad was dead, and he contemplated whether to go fully into it and tell her that he'd go find someone that can pull a spirit back to this world so he could beat it up, but by the state of her, he decided it was better to shove this conversation as far away as possible, as quickly as possible. "Hey, there's no need to apologize." He gave her a brotherly hair-ruffling and continued. "If it isn't something you're comfortable talking about, we can change the subject to something else. Um... like... how is the island treating you so far?"

Very slowly, Amia drew a deep breath, and tried to calm down. However, having her hair ruffled rather surprised her, and caused her to let out a strange little cat-like "prrrr?". She was only used to being touched in such a way by one other person in her life, and feeling such a comfort was... interesting. After a moment she drew another breath, and then nodded.

"O... Okay."

Here, despite her sudden mood swing, she found another excuse to babble on about herself and the things she'd experienced. As such, her hand flapping started up full force, and her words rather stumbked over themselves in an attempt to get them out.

"Well... I've been here for a year now! So that's exciting! I live here with my two friends, Jackie and Eva. We all received letters from this place at around the same time, and decided to move here together. A fresh start, a new adventure, yknkw? And I really like it here! It's so nice to be in a place where I don't have to hide my abilities, and I don't have to be afraid of being hated for having them! Everyone here is so interesting, even though I don't really talk to a lot of people."

So she purrs. Were other cat-people like that? Come to think of it, he hadn't noticed such a thing happening. It was cute, he'd have to give her that, but would it be weird to say it out loud? Yeah, that's pretty weird, so that's going to have to be staying in his own thoughts. And then poof, she was as hyper as she was before the subject of her dad came into the spotlight. Wow. Her mood could swing fast enough to give you whiplash. That was probably a good thing in all honesty, the sooner the mood got less dreary, the less awkward everything had to be. "Hey, that's great! Having friends with you when you go someplace new always helps in adjusting. I was supposed to be coming here with a friend too, but she got sick two days before we decided to leave." He sighed and shook his head. "I was already used to traveling though. Had to go to Japan a few times with some older Kitsune to learn the ropes. Although I didn't get a letter here since we already know about this place."

"Yeah! That's true!"

Amia took a second to shake her head about and paw at her face with one of her fists, very much cat-like behavior. It wasn't as if she did those sorts of things with the intention of acting like one, it just happened to sneak instinctually into her behavior. She frowned a little at his next statement, though.

"Aw, that's sad. Were you close? What was she like? Will she ever end up here too?"

A wistful smile came across her face as he mentioned Japan, and she spent a moment deep in thought before finally answering.

"Japan is such a nice country. I've always wanted to visit there, and maybe see my extended family! My mom was Japanese, and all her side of the family live down there. I can speak Japanese, so it wouldn't be that hard!"
