"You are going to smash it," Fe murmured to herself as she checked her makeup in the bathroom mirror. She looked perfect, not too heavy, but just enough to highlight her best features. Adding a touch more lipgloss, Fe pursed her lips together. Then she washed her hands and dried them on a small hand towel passed to her by an unassuming washroom attendant.

So far House of Volkov was everything she had heard it to be. In fact, it was slightly above her expectations. It was something out of a movie if she were honest. It reminded her of those movies from the Narrow Reality that they often televised on TV or in the movie theatres.

Before she left the washroom, Fe double checked herself. She had chosen a tailored black jacket and pantsuit with black blue patent heels. She knew it was just a singing job, but there was no way in hell she was causing a bad first impression by not dressing professionally.

When she was done, Fe made her way back to the front and told the girl she had an interview at two with Rada Volkov about the singing position.

The restaurant was about to open and Rada was busy whipping her chefs in the kitchen. They had a big reservation from 2:45pm onwards and Rada wanted her staff to be sharp. She was bit pissed because of another fight with Malakias this morning, and because damn Raul had shown up with a hangover. Rada wasn't going to let him puke all over her cooking so she was skipping classes today and taking care of the first and second shift. Fuck, if that guy wasn't a good cook Rada would fire his ass on the spot.
Though before Rada would start working she was going to take care of a small interview. They had a lack of entertainment in the establishment, and for example the real party didn't start in Wolf's Den before some good performance. Rada had used occasional musicians for hire, but she wished they had at least one performer in-house. So Rada has put up a poster for one, and someone had already contacted her. Now Rada only needed to hope the girl was any good.

Rada was just beating some batter for pasta when she noticed what the time was. She cursed softly, Rada couldn't stop this now or it would be ruined. So Rada continued with what she was doing, until a waiter came in with a girl in tow, saying she had an interview with her. Rada looked up and her amber eyes took in the girl behind the waiter. Well well, wasn't she all prim and proper. Rada was going to be severely underdressed for this interview. But who the fuck even cared, at least not Rada, she was the boss around here.
"Take her to the breakroom, I'll be in a sec."
Rada said in Russian to the waiter, and she'd take the girl in a door at the back of the kitchen, to a room that was next to the women's dressing room. It had few armchairs, a table with pens and folded up menus and a vending machine.

After about 10 minutes Rada would come to the room, wearing a dark grey t-shirt with the words "Bite me" and some jeans. She still had some flour in her hair, but she didn't care. Rada wasn't smiling, she was still irritable, but she gave the girl the best smile she could manage for reassurance and nodded.
"You're punctual. I like it. Okay, let's get this done, shall we?"

Following closely behind the waiter, Fe tried not to wrinkle her nose in distaste when they entered the kitchen. The place was noisy and chaotic and just smelted funny in her opinion - like onions and garlic, maybe? She could not be sure since she rarely if ever cooked, like why ever would she? That was for others, she surmised. Cooking was fine.. for others, not for someone like her who aspired to have others cook for her.

When they stopped before a young woman, around her age, who was covered in flour and making something, a cake maybe? Fe kept quiet and just looked at her. She had no idea what the girl had said, but the way she barked her words gave Fe the feeling she was the one in charge. Not a bad thing in her mind, though she had thought the owner was a man for some reason.

Taking her cue from the waiter, she then followed the him to an office and took a seat while she waited somewhat impatiently for Rada to reappear now dress in jeans and a t-shirt.

"Yes, of course...my CV," Fe said, having stood up when Rada walked in the room, she handed the girl her resume which listed among other things the previous places she had sung in - two well-known bars, and a small family restaurant, and the fact that she was in college studying music.

Rada slumped down on the other arm chair in the room, not really caring about what this girl thought about her. After all, she could feel all of it through her empathy.
Should she mention her empathy? Nah, Rada didn't want the girl to try and pretend to be something she wasn't
"CV, right."
Rada nodded and took the CV. She gave it a quick overlook, at least in this area the girl was qualified. But she was a student. Well, Rada was a student too, although part-time, and still she was the head chef.
"You think this job isn't gonna take away from your studies? You're gonna work a lot of late nights if we hire you, with a drunk mostly Russian audience. That gets tiring quickly."
Rada looked at the girl, her name was Fe, and raised a brow.

Fe had been expecting the question and caught herself before she wrinkled her nose at it- all her previous employers had asked it, and truthfully, she'd drop school in a heartbeat if she could. But she knew, that unfortunately, it was important to know how to read music, modulate pitch, even play instruments was important.

"It's fine. I only have morning classes and most of them start after ten," she said reassuring Rda that school wouldn't be a problem. It rarely was actually. In fact, she was thinking of adding in an hour or two of private music lessons if she could find a tutor that she thought was worthy of her talents.

"And unruly audiences?" here she smirked, "Have you ever sang in front of a group of lustful pride demons at an annual event where all of them want to be the best and center of attention?" Fe chuckled. almost adding "Oh honey, drunken Russians' aint't nothing".

Rada had decided to try and be as neutral as possible about the girl's emotional state, as long as she sang well and wasn't going to start fucking with Rada they were all good. So when Rada felt a twinge of annoyance from the girl she didn't react. At least Fe answered the question without sass, and Rada could feel and tell the girl was confident. That was important.

Rada raised a brow at Fe's answer to the latter half of her question, and the smirk. Yeah, this girl really thought she was the hot stuff. Rada wasn't going to argue with that, and she wasn't going to start telling the girl what was a difficult audience. After all, Rada had never been in front of an audience. She had been in front of a mob of hungry wolves that all wanted to fuck and then kill her. And she had grown up in that mob, literally.
"Can't say I have."
Rada said with an amused tone, and slid the CV to the table.
"Guess you can handle few drunk Boris' and Nikolavs then, huh?"
Rada leaned back in her chair.
"Okay then, before we get to the stuff like 'Why do you want this job?' or 'What new can you bring to the table?' and shit such as you can give yourself some extra points. Sing to me."

"I can most certainly handle a few drunken Borises and Nikolavs, and Olavs added too for good measure," Fe stated with a highly amused chuckle as she looked Rada over again, appreciating her biting and probably ball-busting humour, and deciding then that she was definitely okay in her books.

When Rada asked her to sing, Fe just smiled and got to her feet confidently, this was most certainly something she could do and something she was more than happy to do. Thinking of a song that didn't need much music, she hummed a few bars and cleared her throat and broke out in a song that slowly built, was melodic and then suddenly rose and echoed off the walls off the kitchen walls then moved back to a slow even melodic tone... a song that showed off her vocal range perfectly.

Voice Claim is Loreen.

Rada could feel Fe's acceptance, though it didn't much matter to her. It was okay to dislike your boss, or possible boss. Hell, Rada couldn't stand her brother who was basically her boss as well. So liking Rada wasn't a requirement. Rather, it was an achievement. Rada was a difficult person.
"I'll just gotta take your word for it."
Rada said with a smirk.

Rada didn't have any special expectations about Fe's singing. There were many kinds of performers, and some were entertaining even if their voice wasn't all that great. Though Rada could tell immediately that Fe's voice was pretty great. It wasn't too poppy so it grated on Rada's ears, and though Rada preferred opera singing or something like Nightwish or Adele Fe's voice had a good sound to it. And, what was the best part, Rada could close her eyes and listen to it and be just as entertained.
When Fe finished Rada opened her eyes and gave her a small clap. And down the hall from outside the door Rada could hear few whistles from the kitchen. Rada grinned, stood up and opened the door.
"She ain't hired yet! Get back to work!"
Rada yelled in Russian, her tone was angry but her face was just amused. She turned to look at Fe, and watched her few moments.
"You know what? Fuck it. This is my restaurant and I do what I want."
Rada went and picked up Fe's CV, giving it back to the girl.
"You can put that away and show up on Monday 6pm. I'll give Olav a call to show up so drunk he can't see straight."
Rada said with a smirk, and sat back down on her chair. Was it impulsive? Fuck yes it was. But Rada didn't give a fuck, if Fe messed up all Rada needed to do was fire her.

When Fe finished her song and heard whistling, like catcalls, of approval of the kitchen along with someone, Rada, clapping, she bowed a little and gave her a wide grin. Fe knew she was good, maybe not perfect, and maybe not to the taste of everyone around her, but she knew she could sing and that confidence showed.

"Thank you," Fe said very simply to Rada, grateful for the opportunity and putting away attitude she might have. This wasn't the time or the place for that. The woman had just given her a job, Fe wasn't about to bite the hand that would feed her.

"I will be here Monday at 5:30," she told Rada. "And I have some outfits I'd like to change into, is there anywhere I can use?" she asked with interest as she put her CV away in her overseized handbag purse.

Rada was glad she got this over with, and had found someone who seemed ballsy and confident enough to do the job. Now Rada could take it easy and throw back few drinks upstairs before taking inventory. And for some reason she felt like going out today, so she was going head to town.
"Don't get too excited now."
Rada said back at Fe after she simply thanked her, and smirked. But Rada could feel the girl's gratitude, at least she didn't take this for granted despite the confidence. Good.

"There's a women's dressing room right next to this one, it reads so on the door. You can just go through the kitchen, the doors ain't locked."
Rada answered, and stretched. Her part was pretty much over now, and she pulled out a note from her pocket that had a name and a number.
"This is our floor manager. He'll give you all the details on all the stuff I don't get, and you'll discuss what you want to sing with him. Call him as soon as you can, I'll inform him that you've been hired."
