Klay's eyes drooped. It wasn't usual for her to fall asleep in pure daylight. But, she was half nocturnal. She was in a tree, far from the water. Though she liked the lake, she was still nervous about that monster sleeping in it. Her sketchbook was on her stomach, blank except for the outline of a body sitting on something. The drawing started to erase itself. Her notepad did that when she was done with something. It was paper from home, and her parents had gotten it before she left. They knew she loved to draw. She sighed and pulled a leaf out of her. The only bad thing about laying in trees was that their leaves seemed to be drawn to her hair like a magnet.
I wonder what they're doing now. Probably hunting. I wonder if she's gotten the book she wanted. Probably so, because she always needs more books.
Klay refered to her younger as 'she' since her sister didn't like her name, and Klay respected that. Finally, Klay's eyes closed and she started a light sleep.

Brendan whistles as he went for his morning walk, all to make sure he doesn't flip out at students he suddenly caught sight of a girl and he decided he wanted a chat, he looked at the girl and shouted up
"Hey, mind if I ————-"
He noticed the girl was sleeping and he mumbled to himself
"Woah, I'm making a habit of that"

Klay jumped and looked down at the boy. Why did he yell like that in the middle of the day, Klay didn't know, but she waved anyway. She layed back down and started to sketch the view from her high, very high, perch. The mountains in the back, the lake on the ground, and the sun in the top. Klay though it wasn't very good, but everyone else said she drew god. She flipped to another page and wrote on it; Hello, I'm Klay. Don't get mad, but I can't speak.
She ripped it out, folded it once, and let it fall. If he could climb up here, they could ''talk''.

Brendan picked up the letter and read it wondering why she didn't just say hi, after he read it he realized and flinched, he then looked up at Klay and felt sorry for her he then climbed the very tall tree and
started to nose into her drawings, woah, that stuff is ace!

Klay smiled. He probably was thinking the same that everyone else thought. She flipped to another page and wrote something down; Well, what is your name?.
She didn't mean to be rude, but it was hard not to be rude when you can't say anything. She handed the sheet to the boy.

Klay would have smiled, if she could've. And even if she could, Brendan wouldn't see it behind her mask. She looked out at the water and shuddered. She took another sheet; Nice airplane.
She wrote, simply wanting to go to sleep again, since the lines under her eyes were extra-seeable.

Klay shook her head and looked up at the sky, trying to think of a way to write a letter home with her request. She'd have to find someone to do it, no 'mailman' would ever be able to carry it home. She'd have to go herself. Or at least, wait for the package.
