The bonfire had started out as absolute hell, but by the time the sun had risen Dalia was pretty certain she was in heaven. After Jax had been poisoned by that lich teacher, Dalia has gone off with him into the woods. Their first outing together in a long time, and the first one since the time he had accidentally maimed her. The monsters had attacked sometime later that night. They had met up with Alain and Adelyn and the four of them had terrorized the creatures teleporting in for most of the night. And then Dalia had woken up in a cave, sleepin in Jax's arms. Carpe Noctem indeed.

But coming home had drained away her enjoyment of the night. Phaedra was missing. She had gone into a rage and had only been seen in passing since. Dalia hadn't waited for breakfast or even a shower before sneaking out from the balcony to go look for her sister. She still had dried blood around her mouth and staining her hoodie, but in her human form at least she didn't have blood on her hands.

Not even knowing where to start, she had taken to wandering the streets. Calling Phae on her phone. Shouting her name. She didn't know when she realized that she was in the Strip, but her stomach turned a bit when she did. At least it was daylight, so it wasn't as busy as she had heard it could be.

"PHAEDRA!? ARE YOU OUT HERE?"

Dalia continued to call out Phaedra's name, following a random path. Street. Alley. Alley. Street. Through a shop, taking care to not look at anything she didn't want to see. She finally stopped when she smelled blood. Odd, her human shape charm made her senses completely like a normal person's. If she was smelling blood...

Dalia turned and looked down an alley to her right. There was a lot of blood. Some poor creature was flailing uselessly on the ground, its wings torn to shreds. Straddling the mangled animal, eating it while it still lived, was a sight that made Dalia's chest squirm with relief and terror on top of a whole slew of other emotions.

"Phaedra!"

Kill.... Murder.... Maim... Destroy

These were the simple motives that drove Phaedra. All rational thought had slipped away, leaving in its wake a never-ending lust for death. When the night had started out, Phaedra and Pandora had opted to help some locals get to safety, but the younger spider had gotten caught up in the killing. Before long she had yielded entirely to her urges and had taken off into the night to end as many lives as she possibly could.

She had spent much of her time, moving between the school, and the hospital looking for people or monsters that were either alone or in small groups. Staying close to the food is what her mother had called it.

As the night went on, Phaedra had killed what felt like dozens of beasts, tearing them to shreds and leaving nothing but red streaks on the pavement. In the process, her spider form had been severely damaged. Her Abdomen and many legs had been rather badly wounded resulting in a lot of potential blood loss. Or at least it would have if she hadn't switched to her human form. While it was weaker, it was not hemorrhaging vital fluids.

As the sun came up, Phaedra had been stalking through an Alley, when she caught sight of single creature skulking about. It looked as though it were a harpy, however instead of feathers it had thing wings consisting of skin like membranes. Its skin was sickly white, and its black featureless face seemed to have only a mouth, lined with razor-sharp teeth. The Dark Harpy crawled along using its wings as if they were front legs. It made a sickly gurgle with every breath.

Phaedra followed it for a few moments, staying back to the shadows, far enough to avoid detection, but close enough to lunge at the first opportunity she could.

This opportunity eventually presented itself when the dark Harpy turned to head out to the street. In a flash Phaedra lept into action, jumping onto the creatures back, and plunging her already bloodstained fingers deeply into its back. It shrieked in pain, throwing its head back in the process. Phaedra responded to these cries for help quickly, snapping forward to close her jaws around the throat of the creature, tearing out its soft flesh with ease.

Phaedra proceeded to drag the creature deeper into the alley, while it rasped in an attempt to scream. In an attempt to escape it flailed its wings, slashing at her with its sharpened claw. Phaedra, in turn, proceeded to shred the thin membranes and snap the frail bones that made up the wing, effectively rendering them useless. Again the creature tried to scream, but only managed to gurgle as blood poured from the wound in its throat.

It was at this point that Phaedra began to eat the creature, digging her claws into its soft midsection and tearing out pieces of flesh, shoving them hungrily into her mouth. She would proceed to tear out pieces of it until a voice called out to her.

"Phaedra!"

She froze, sitting up straight with her back to Dalia. Her instincts told her to attack, to turn and attack, kill the intruder, and eat. But somehow the voice was familiar. It was like a light in the darkness. It didn't belong to another meal. It belonged to someone.

Slowly Phaedra turned around to look at her sister. Her eyes were sharp and red. Blood dripped from her, mouth, and as she closed it, a distinct an audible crunch could be heard as she chewed up a piece of bone. A low growl escaped her throat while she sat staring at the intruding spiderling.

Kill... Murder.... Maim... Destroy...

Her instincts were simple. they demanded blood. But for some reason, she didn't want to kill this one. Not now, not ever.

The growl remained low, loud enough to sound threatening, but nothing more. Phaedra would go on to grab the creatures leg and pull it further into the alley, pulling its body into a door frame where she would begin to eat it again. Its rasping gurgles, harmonizing with the low growl still coming from Phaedra.

Dalia felt a lump in her throat and the scars across her chest itched lightly as if to remind her of past mistakes. She was scared. The look in Phaedra's eyes, it reminded Dalia of the way Jax had looked at her as she approached his kill that first full moon he had taken her hunting. But there was an overpowering feeling behind that, memories flooding in. Her dreams. Disjointed though they were, they comforted her. Gave her courage.

She took a step into the alley. And then another. Closing the distance between her and the rabid creature that was her sister.
"Phae? Oh good, it's you. I was so worried."

She picked at the sleeve of her hoodie, letting her mind wander to the battles she had seen in her dreams. A great spear piercing her chest. A building collapsing upon her. Dying time and time again. They weren't her deaths, not really. Even still she found that she wasn't afraid of them. Wasn't afraid of the prospect of dying. There were worse things, like losing the sister she loved the most.

"C-come on Phae. You need to come home. Mama and Mal. Aunt Chloe and Amber. They're all worried about you. I was worried. Afraid you'd..."

Died? Gotten arrested? Dalia would have preferred the latter to the former, but neither of them was as good an option as this. Phaedra, alive and not handcuffed, in front of her.

Phaedra continued to growl as she tore another handful of flesh from the monster. It continued to gurgle, though its struggling had weakened considerably. It was such a horrible scene, like something out of a movie or a violent video game. It was almost surreal in its own way.

Phaedra growled louder from her throat as she watched Dalia approaching her. The younger spiderling was talking now, using words that didn't seem to have meaning while at the same time were directed at her anyway. It was strange that she was approaching her like this, and for a moment it perplexed Phaedra, but her confusion quickly passed and replaced with defensiveness.

As Dalia got closer Phaedra placed her and on the face of the monster in front of her. it ,ad a fresh gurgle, before she twisted her hand sharply, forcing its head to the side and violently snapping its neck. It struggled a moment, tensing before going limp and silent. She Was leaning forward, over its body now, poised to strike at Dalia if she got any closer. Strangely enough, despite her instincts, she had not attacked the young girl yet.

Still Phaedra continued to growl, deeper now, louder than before. All of this, the killing of the beast, the growling, the positioning, it was all a threat display. She wanted to intimidate Dalia, force her to leave before something bad happened.

Dalia tensed up and stopped in her tracks as Phaedra leaned forward, killing the poor monster. Her heart was pounding and she felt her face flush hot with the danger she was in. Phaedra could kill her before she even got her bracelet off.

Her mind wandered back further. Dalia's own hands, stabbing a sword into a man she didn't recognize. He looked down at her with a love she couldn't describe. She felt a deep hurt, like losing everything. Her vision came back to Phaedra.

She linged forward, throwing herself at Phaedra as hard as she could, arms going wide. She knew that she would get hurt, but she wasn't thinking exactly rationally. Her arms wrapped around Phae's shoulders, hugging her tight.

"You promised you wouldn't leave. So you're not allowed."

Phaedra reared back, and let out a scream. It wasn't like a normal scream that someone might do when distressed, instead, this was something far worse. It was as if she were in excruciating pain, that had long since driven her to madness. It was louder and harder than she had ever screamed before.

As she came back down she fell onto her back, with Dalia on top of her. She flailed wildly screaming like a woman possessed. Her claws tearing at Dalia's back in an attempt to free herself from her sister's grip.

After a few moments her struggling weakened, and the screaming began to quiet down. Eventually, the struggling and flailing stopped altogether, and the screaming settled down into a quiet sobbing. The urges to kill and maim quieted down. She was coming back into her own mind.

Slowly the sobbing began to intensify as she wrapped her arms around Dalia squeezing her tightly. "I don't want to go" She sobbed loudly burying her face in Dalia.

Dalia ignored the scratches on her back. Her hoodie absorbed most of the damage anyway, hooray for spider silk. Her arms tightened, pulling Phaedra tighter into her embrace as the two of them tumbled to the floor. Her heart was still beating too fast for her own good, and the sting of the scratches across her back wasn't helping matters.

"You don't have to go. You can stay right here with me."

She kissed Phaedra's forehead gently, letting her sister sob into her shirt the same way Phaedra had let her do since the two of them had started growing closer. Dalia's voice grew quieter into a gentle whisper, and it was all she could do to keep herself from crying as well.
"There's my big sis. I love you, Phae."
