That wonderful gent over there
It was hard for the jellyfish boy to grasp the fact that Ryuk came from the water. It would've been so incredibly different, and it still felt so impossible. Almost all electronics would be out of the question, it would probably get really dark every night, and people would have to swim everywhere. To make it even harder to understand, it seemed like there was an entire civilisation that lived like that.

When Ryuk started with about that, the jelly already knew he didn't actually have everything. He didn't appear angry or surprised, thanks to a combination of him caring very little and sort of expecting it. Actually, the part that got his attention the most was the Home Ec. room. He gave Ryuk a dazed look. "Wait, are we at a school or something?" He wasn't sure what Ryuk's current situation was, but he'd mostly been assuming that he was living alone in a hotel. The school thing put a lot of sense to a few of the things he'd said earlier.

"Would that room even be open, I mean, isn't it a little late?" He was still rather hungry, and while he didn't care much about baking and whatnot, he still wanted to eventually eat some cookies. He didn't know anything about the school, so he naturally assumed that something like that would be closed so late at night.

"If it is open, I guess you can go get them." He starting changing colour to purple, as he realised that he didn't want to be left alone. "But... if you do, can I come too?" Was he actually scared of being alone? He'd never been like that before, he used to love being alone. Everything was really getting to him, it was as if a scientist was going to pop up and steal him if he was left alone for a few minutes. He couldn't let Ryuk know that was the reason though. "Just to, er, make sure that you don't grab the wrong stuff..."

Ryuk did feel a tad mean for giggling when the jellyfish inquired as to if this was a school, but he couldn't help it. It'd just sounded so cute. Regardless, he looked apologetic despite his tiny bout of laughter. "I'm sorry. That was adorable- Yes, we're in a school. The entire island isn't a school, but.. I'm too young not to, so that's why I'm attending here. This is the dorms, specifically."

He did pause a moment, when the suggestion that it might be closed came up. However... "I don't think so," He thought to the boy, offering a tiny smile. "There's nocturnal students here, so most of the classes are a 24/7-type deal. It shouldn't be too late." He paused, before giggling. "And if it is.. I have some cupcakes in my drawer." There was clearly food available- Ryuk had simply chosen to go on this more difficult path of resistance regarding getting that food. Whether that was wise or foolish, who knew?

Honestly, he was surprised, at first, that the jellyfish wanted to come with him. He know he'd claimed it was to make sure he grabbed the right things, but.. it made sense. He was still in an entirely alien place to him, with no one he knew and no recollection of who, or what, he was. It made complete sense that he'd be scared to be along in the room.

An all too knowing smile came to the merman's features as he walked over to give a few, gentle pets to his bell. "You can come with. And don't worry- I'll keep you safe. This place is very safe, you know," He thought to him, the smile never leaving his features, "The security is top notch. They wouldn't let anything happen to you, even if they don't entirely know you're here yet." He then pulled back, giving an excited twirl as he pointed to the door, as if suggesting they go now.

The jelly boy noticed Ryuk giggling and saying that he was adorable despite the fact that it was just a normal question, but he let it pass in order to listen to what he had to say about the school. After Ryuk confirmed that they were in a school dorm, all he let out was a small "Huh." He wasn't sure what to make of it, it didn't change much, but it was still surprising to learn.

What came next was rather unexpected. The Home Ec. room was probably open? And it was because some of the students were nocturnal? Ryuk really wasn't kidding about being able to find stuff from fairy tales there. "A, actually? Like a whole bunch of people sleep during the day and roam around at night? it isn't just because they're teenagers? I always stay up pretty late... or at least I did." He wasn't quite sure if he'd be as compelled to stay up late as before, his sleep schedule was off to a bumpy start, so he still had no way of telling.

He didn't like the way Ryuk smiled and then reassured him that he'd be safe. It was either a coincidence, or Ryuk was on to the real reason he wanted to come with. Was he really that easy to read? As much as it bothered him, it did make him feel slightly safer. Although the last part was true and slightly discomforting, nobody in the entire area would know who he was or that he even existed in the event that something happened to him. He played it off as if he didn't care, but in doing so, was still pretty easy to read. "Alright cool, let's go then."

He watched Ryuk point him to the door, and walked up to it, quickly feeling very small as his eyes were only a couple inches above it. His height may have been just over the four feet mark, but that was thanks to his bell. He really looked like a kid who was a couple inches over three feet tall, wearing an oversized hat. He stood there for a second, just staring at the door knob, before sighing and reaching up a little to open it. He stepped outside and stayed put, waiting for Ryuk to guide the way.

Ryuk's giggling persisted as he listened to his friend, nodding to his words. "Yes, yes," he thought to him, winking, "They're up because their daytime is our nighttime. It's really cool, but.. I prefer the daylight, myself." He always loved the sun- it felt nice, even if sometimes it dried him out quicker than he wished it would. He did hope this didn't scare the jelly boy, though.. it had to be weird, knowing some creatures really did go boom in the night. But it was okay! He'd look out for him!

It was a bit funny to see how this boy tried to hide his emotions, to Ryuk. Land walkers tended to do this, and while he did it to some extent, full-on masks were frowned upon, where he was from. Exchanging thoughts was such an open, unrestricted form of communication that made it hard to hide feelings to begin with- so typically, they just, well, didn't. That said, he felt this was important to the boy, so he decided to let it go. He'd let him play it cool, at least in this moment. He gave him a few more tiny pats as he smiled at him. "Of course. Hopefully this doesn't take us too long.. you're probably hungry."

He did look a bit.. worried, though, as he noted the pause once his friend reached the door. He almost was about to go open it for him- so when it was finally opened, he sighed with relief through his nose before bounding after him, practically leaping out of the doorway with tiny, excited squeaks. "Come on, come on! This way!" He thought to him, already trying to tug him along- without even bothering to lock the door.

The jellyfish boy looked down at his stomach at the mention of being hungry. The lollipop from earlier had helped with that, but it also made him realise that he was hungry in the first place. He wasn't starving or anything, but he was definitely still hungry for something else. "Just a little." He wondered how far the Home Ec. room was from where they were, it didn't sound like it was far, but it was possible that Ryuk was just being optimistic and it was really a ten mile hike away. He never really knew.

"So how far is this Home Ec room?" After asking how far it was, he realised there were a few other things that could prove important to clear up. "Oh, and are you positive that it's going to have the things you're missing? And is it really okay for us to just take it?" The only problem with his questions was how capable Ryuk would be at answering them. He wasn't sure how well Ryuk knew the school after all.

Once again, Ryuk brought his attention away from his problems. He was feeling pretty down after simply opening the door, but Ryuk tugged him forward and it fell seamlessly into the past. "Okay, okay, I'm going." He sped up to keep up with Ryuk, basically speed walking. He took note of the walls. Everything seemed, oddly normal. "Huh, I kinda expected something a little more... you know, magic-y. This just looks like a regular dorm." He never would've believed this was a school for the supernatural.

Ryuk showed clear concern as his slightly shorter friend assessed his need for food. He insisted it wasn't by too much, but it had been a while since he'd arrived here. Regardless, he'd shove such worries aside, for now. He'd just encourage him to eat when they returned to the dorms, if push came to shove.

"Alright- we'll have cookies later, anyway," he thought cheerfully, bouncing on his heels just a little, "Home Ec. isn't too far, but we will have to go outside to get to it. It should be fine... you'll love the island. It's so pretty~" A happy little squeal came from him at the thought, and image of the jellyfish seeing the outside world for the first time.

Regardless, he was quick to playfully wink at the boy. "Don't worry about taking things, either... it's fine. They're for our use in class, so outside of class shouldn't be too big of a deal. They were okay with it last time!" This was before the near fire- but he was sure that wouldn't change things.

There was clear bounce in his step as he tugged him along, skipping once or twice- he didn't pay attention to his speed, frankly, but luckily for the other it wasn't overly fast. For all the moving and wiggling he did, it didn't effect his overall speed in getting there by too much. Giggles erupted from him as he listened, though, shaking his head.

"That's the thing," he thought to him, a warmth unintentionally radiating from him. "We all expect each other to be so.. vastly different. And on some levels, we are. But we're also so similar. I wish.. more people could see that." For a moment, a glint of something came into his gaze. Perhaps it was sadness, perhaps it was sympathy. Either way, it caused him to pause, before smiling at the other. "I think you've done very well so far, though.. in being open and understanding."
