The jellyfishboy was shaken from his daze, when Ryuk took his hands from his tentacles. He looked up, rather stunned looking, as Ryuk replaced the tentacles with a lollipop. He never realised it, but he was actually pretty hungry, which allowed the lollipop to completely redirect his attention. "Oh, Thanks" He started licking the lollipop, revealing a purple tongue, as he listened to what Ryuk had to say.

It was comforting, the way Ryuk spoke, but he was fairly confident there was no way of falling back asleep. "Back to bed? B, but I just woke up, and I don't even know how long I was sleeping before that..." He didn't know it, but he'd been asleep for three straight nights, thanks to a drug given to him by the unknown scientist who mailed him. Now he was wide awake, and only getting worse as he licked away at the lollipop.
"I don't think I can go to sleep again..."

Breathing underwater was an odd idea. He wasn't quite sure how he felt about it. But that wasn't the point Ryuk was trying to make. He was basically telling him to embrace being a jellyfish. The only issue was that he didn't see any real advantages to it. He was short, slow, got dehydrated easily, looked weird, was missing a bunch of important information, and had absolutely no clue how it even happened. But it didn't matter, so long as Ryuk said it was going to be alright, he chose to believe it. "Alright, I'll try."

He wanted to go figure everything out right away, but frankly, it was the middle of the night, and they wouldn't be able to do anything. It was hard, having so much energy so late at night; and he proceeded to lick his lollipop, slowly getting more hyper.

Ryuk couldn't help a giggle as the lollipop actually worked. It kind of reminded him of a kid honestly... well, they kind of were kids. Well, he was. Actually... "Um.." He began, biting his lip- but then realized he might not even remember his own age, which might trouble him again. So instead of going down that rabbit hole again, for now he just offered a smile. "I'm glad you like it."

It didn't seem like sleep was an option, though, and he could see that the candy, while effective in calming him down, was only making his blue friend even more awake than before. He frowned in a thoughtful manner, brow furling as he attempted to find something of interest on the carpet as he thought. He didn't usually spend the nights up, but they had slept a while before... It took him a moment but as an idea came to him, he bore an excited smile, one equivalent to a kid in a candy store.

"Well!" Ryuk thought to the jellyfish as his gaze returned to him, "We could make ourselves a night of fun, then! We can bake stuff, read stories... um.." He paused a moment, before pulling out his phone, from his pocket. It was a medium sized, albeit pink, smart phone. "The school gave me this.. I'm not entirely sure on how to use it, but I heard it has the internet inside of it..." He gave a half shrug, almost sheepish as he continued, "So we have options. It'll be like a sleep over, with lots of fun times, like friends do."

The jellyfish boy looked around the room while he slowly made headway on the lollipop. He didn't want to sleep, but he wasn't sure what exactly he was going to spend his time doing in the room. Eventually Ryuk started talking, and he redirected his attention to him.

Baking, stories, and a phone; normally he considered baking to be a lot of work, but at the moment he was hungry, so anything involving food sounded like a good idea. "I don't really know how to bake, but I guess we could give it a shot." It wasn't like he was busy or had anything left to lose.

He was admittedly pretty doubtful that he'd be able to have fun, especially after everything that had so recently happened, but Ryuk's night of fun or whatever idea involved food, so it was probably at least a bit better than sitting on the floor all night. He stood up, ready to do whatever Ryuk had in mind. He almost fell backwards as he got up, his bell made his head oversized when compared to his body, and it was proving pretty impractical time and time again. Luckily, he caught himself this time, quickly moving his foot back to stop himself.

He wore a subtle smirk as Ryuk pulled out a pink phone. He took a little enjoyment out of the fact that Ryuk's phone looked almost exactly how he would've expected it to look, other than it not being covered in stickers. "That could be useful, I don't know what you have for food and cooking stuff, but you can probably find some easy recipe on the internet with it." It could've also been useful for finding his home, if only he knew any of the names of the places he'd been. Oddly enough, he remembered his house number, 53, while having no idea what street or city it was in. It was the same for his age, he knew how old he was, but had no recollection of his actual birthday date. He sighed, shifting his focus from his situation to Ryuk. "So did you have anything in mind? For baking I mean."

As much as this was about Ryuk wanting to have fun with this person, there was more to it. He wanted to distract him as much as possible, and help him make new memories on the island. It'd give him something to focus on, and perhaps make his first day here not completely horrible- even if it was already close to the end of that day.

A laugh came to him as he listened to his tiny friend mention he had no baking skills, whatsoever. "I don't either," he thought to him, smiling sheepishly, "But we can learn together!" One could only hope this wouldn't result in more fires- which had already occurred for Ryuk before, quite a few times. It wasn't really about the baking so much as doing it with his friend this time, though. He only hoped he wouldn't put the other off if he messed up too badly. The more he thought of that possibility, the more anxious he felt.

This was shoved aside for the time being as he stood up after the other- he'd noticed the slight stutter to his step, but trusted him to be able to handle himself. He was far more focused on how amused the other had looked at his phone. Why would he be so happy over it? Did he like phones? He did mention one earlier.. He would talk to the staff so they could get him a phone! And it would be just like his, maybe, and they could be matching phone buddies!!

However, his expression turned slightly.. embarrassed if not a bit nervous as the boy spoke, as if troubled by the thought of actually using the phone. "Maybe," he thought to him, purposely in a quiet tone, "I... don't really know how to access the internet on it. Or how to do much with it at all except call people.. They expected me to just know how it worked when they gave it to me. Sorry..." The more he thought about it, he figured the other would have far more use for it than he would. So, instead, he tried to nudge it towards the blue boy, thinking to him, "You can have it. Um.. I'd really like if we could bake cookies, though." He offered a tiny smile, hoping to distract from that previous- albeit self deemed- social blunder.

Ryuk also had no baking skills, the jelly boy couldn't wait to see where this would end up going. "Do you have the stuff we need for baking in here?" He didn't know much about baking, but he did know that you needed something to bake with and something to put under the thing you were baking while it was being cooked. If Ryuk didn't have that stuff, then they weren't going to get very far.

Ryuk really didn't know the first thing about using a phone, perhaps that had something to do with being a mermaid. Either way, if neither of them could bake, they were going to need to get instructions from somewhere, and right now, that phone looked like their best shot. "Did you get some kind of WiFi password or something? Or is there no password for the internet here?" Jelly boy was sort of hoping that Ryuk knew the password for the wifi, if he didn't, then they were out of luck. Unless of course, he got to the WiFi connection and found it without a password.

"Cookies?" He was fairly sure that cookies were one of, if not the easiest thing to bake, so he didn't argue against Ryuk's decision. Although, he was just a tad curious as to why Ryuk wanted cookies so intently. "Alright then, cookies it is, let's see how many ovens we gotta burn down to make a cookie."

Now, Ryuk may have nod had internet, nor baking skills- but he did have the necessary materials. He'd read up on it at the library and made sure to get them- most of it was in his mini-fridge, which was set up right beside his bed. This thought caused him to feel slightly.. embarrassed for a moment, as he had returned that book a while ago. He hadn't intended to try baking again, but.. this was a special occasion.

"I do!" The merman thought excitedly to the jellyfish before bounding over to the mini-fridge, giving a pat, followed by an almost-hug and nuzzle, as if, for that moment, appreciating its existence. He for a moment wondered if the fridge would appreciate that hug if it could talk- he was distracted from such thinking as his friend spoke to him, though, so with a sympathetic, final pet he got back up and bounded over to him. Confusion momentarily hit him as he listened.

Password...? He remembered them giving him something- he just wasn't sure if he still had it. He held up a finger, as if asking the boy to wait as he rummaged through old clothing, eventually picking out the pair of light-pink shorts he'd worn when they gave him the phone. With some success, he pulled out a piece of paper with the code '3B6KH=4v9' on it- the wifi password- which he ran over to the jellyfish to give him, bouncing excitably and clearly proud of himself.

They had the password and they were making cookies- this made him extremely happy. "Thank you!" He chirped into the boy's head, grinning like mad. "We're going to have fun, I think! They'll be good cookies, the best cookies ever!" Despite himself, he ended up hugging the boy with a small, excited squeak. "And don't worry, I'll protect you from the fires! I won't let anything hurt you." Now, this had to be taken with a grain of salt, considering such a tiny merman was saying it- but it was said earnestly.

The jelly boy was a little surprised to find that Ryuk had everything they needed for making cookies. He honestly expected him to be missing something, it was almost as if he'd been planning on making them. "Alright good, then we just need a recipe..."

He looked down at the phone, finding that the internet required a password. It wasn't a huge deal to him, but it looked like they weren't going to be doing any baking after all. He was about to tell Ryuk the bad news, but it looked like he may have actually understood what the jelly had been talking about. Sure enough, Ryuk pulled out a piece of paper with the password written on it, after just a little bit of digging around. "Perfect, thanks." He found it easier than ever to type the password in, his fingers were so tiny that he didn't have any trouble with tapping the wrong number by mistake. The password worked, and with that, Ryuk's phone officially had internet access.

The jelly boy gave Ryuk a rather sarcastic look when he said that the cookies were going to be the best ever. He muttered rather quietly. "They'll be something alright..." Cookies probably weren't the hardest thing to make, but still, he was fairly sure they were going to get something wrong.

He squeaked right back when Ryuk hugged him again, surprised by the out of nowhere hug. "I was kidding, we aren't going to actually burn down the room... hopefully." He squirmed a bit, trying to escape the hug. "What type of cookies did you want to make anyway? As long as you have the ingredients, we can find a recipe for anything online."

Ryuk stared with a sense of awe as his friend knew just what to do with the code he'd just presented him. It was all confusing to him, but here was the jellyfish able to just.. input it, with no problem. A happy little squeal escaped him over this as he wiggled a bit, clearly delighted over the new possibilities they had with it unlocked. "You're amazing! You knew just what to do... you must have been a genius back home!"

The sarcasm went right over the merman's head, really- if anything, the words made him think the boy agreed with him, and thus, he became even more excited, happily nuzzling his face into the other's bell. It was only when he felt the squirming that he pulled back, looking quite sheepish and embarrassed. He'd been doing the touchy thing again. "Sorry..." He thought quietly, offering a shy smile. "You're very cuddly. It's hard not to cuddle you sometimes. I hope we love these cookies!"

However, he brought up a good question- what kind of cookies were they making? Of course, there were plenty of options- but not many Ryuk actually knew of. He only knew of sugar, and chocolate chip. However, he had other ideas. He looked to the boy, beaming. "We could do cookies with different candies in them! Chocolate, skittles, even cotton candy! I think the last one would be really really good!" One normally would think cotton candy on cookies would be a disaster, but perhaps there was some hope to be had. Probably not, though.

The jelly boy was surprised at how technologically impaired Ryuk was. "I was pretty smart, but this isn't anything special. Everyone I've ever met has been able to punch in a WiFi password." Even his parents knew how to do that. He wondered if all mer people were so out of the loop when it came to things like phones. They lived underwater, so he figured it would make sense. Something like a laptop would be pretty useless underwater.

When Ryuk let him go, he looked back at him with an unimpressed face, but let it go at that. He was getting used to it now, and it wasn't annoying him as much as it did initially. It seemed that Ryuk genuinely couldn't help it, and that was something that he was going to have to learn to accept.

Cotton candy cookies? That sounded like biting off more than they could chew. The way he saw it, just baking regular cookies was already a bit of a stretch for them. "I don't know about cotton candy cookies, that doesn't sound like a real thing. But I'll have a look and see what I can find." He typed it into Ryuk's phone, then glanced over the results. "Hmm, might actually have something." He found one recipe "Alright, it says you need sugar, butter, vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla, salt, baking soda, flour, and tartar. I don't know what tartar is, but if you don't have it, I doubt it would make a difference." He half expected the recipe to call for cotton candy, but was surprised to find that it wasn't on the list. "Do you have everything here for that?"

Ryuk's face reddened ever so slightly with embarrassment as the boy mentioned everyone being able to do this. He'd figured it was something that people on the land just did. His brother had made a few nasty comments about it as well, talking of how something was lost, when people depended so much on technology. He.. personally didn't agree, but that didn't change that they simply had never gotten into the loop under the sea. Especially since he'd heard from the people who gave him the phone that if he got it wet, it would break. "It must be a tradition.. we.. don't use such things down below. We just talk to each other normally."

The red only intensified as he noticed how displeased the other seemed. It wasn't as angry as it had been before, but clearly not happy, either. He really needed to work on that, before he scared his friend away. He offered a tiny smile to him, though it was somewhat apologetic.

It seemed the cotton candy cookies were going to be rejected, but when he actually began looking them up, the merman began bouncing with excitement and making tiny squeaks, as he stared onward. He soon, however froze in his tracks at the mention of baking soda. He didn't have any. In fact, he didn't have the vegetable oil either. He squirmed in place a moment, ashamed. ".. About that.."

After quelling some brewing nerves and embarrassment, he looked down. ".. I don't have some of those.. but the Home Ec. room might. I could go get them. I'm sorry!" He felt horrible, for disappointing his friend- but there was still hope! They could still do this!

((A/N: Sorry!! I wasn't alerted of this and missed it until now. >_< ))
