Solitude...maybe

Myndy sat next to a window, using the light to read by. Every few moments she would stop and push her side bangs out of her eyes, but she was too wrapped up in A Wrinkle In Time to actually notice. She was so enthralled with Meg's story, that she didn't even notice someone come in.

He needed a break, he really did. After two hours of attempting to fly and with the replies of someone older than him, he really did need to break.

Haku walked into an empty room tiredly, where he was sure he'd be alone. His wings have vanished, but the pain that stemmed from the broken bone still remained. It was like being in intense pain, severing off the pain source, and still being in pain.

The instant he stepped into the room, he noticed that a girl was already there. She was reading, something he had hardly did. He decided to keep a respectful silence, because it didn't seem like she saw him yet.

Myndy stopped reading long enough to turn the page. As she was doing so, she looked up. And screamed. Her book went flying. After she regained her composure and her cheeks stopped flushing, she stood up and got her book.

"I am SO sorry." She apologized. She quickly retreated back to her seat with the book, but didn't start reading again, in case he was going to say something.

o_O

He stared strangely at her. First, she was quiet. Then, she screamed. And then, she said sorry, cause she screamed. Strange person, indeed. Then, she hurried back to her window chair, and stared at him expectantly.

"Uh, so, hi," he greeted, waving a hand weakly, "I was just going to...um. Sit, here?" he brushed some dust off a chair across of her and continued, "Um. Sorry for disturbing you, though."

[*shrugs* that's what happens to me when people interrupt me when I'm reading. : D]

Myndy blushed again. "Sorry, again. I just wasn't expecting anyone to come in here." She said calmly. "I'm Myndy, by the way." She didn't really care if he said anything after that or not, so she tilted her head and looked out the window.

"My name's Haku," he introduced, still staring at her weirdly. "I didn't think anyone would be here at all..."

He sat in silence, wondering what to say after. The words just came out though, "So, what are you reading? I don't read a lot, so there's a good chance that I don't know what it is," he added, a bit jokingly, with a light air to it.

Myndy nodded her agreement. "Yeah, same here." She said.

She tilted the small book so that he could see. "A Wrinkle In Time, by Madeline L'Engle. It's Science Fiction." Of course, she could have gone on with information about it, but she didn't want to bore him.

He wracked his brain. Unfortunately, he didn't read it, but he saw his sister reading it. Once. And he wasn't even sure if it was that book.

"What's it about? I heard it was something about an IT, or something. My sister likes telling me what she read, since she talked out loud when doing her book reports," he said, smiling at the memory of a five-year-old self listening to a rambling older sister. "It sounds nice to read."

"That's the one." Myndy said brightly, glad that he had actually heard of it. "It's one of my favorites. It's really sad in some parts, but I like sad stories...so yeah." She thought for a second. "So...have you been here long?" She asked finally. She wasn't much of a conversationalist.

He only nodded; personally he didn't really, so he didn't know what type of books he liked. He haven't even stepped into the library before.

Shrugging at her second question (and wincing of pain as well), he answered, "Maybe a month or so. I don't really keep track of it."
