Ganymede's assignment had a second part too, spanning another two chapters, which might seem unusual. Normally it took most of a week for a math class to cover this much content, but going by the dates Gany had written down, all of it was assigned and due on the same day. He grasped everything Caissa told him unusually quickly. When he was working out a problem he would be deep in focus, but when Caissa was speaking to him he would give her his full attention, smiling. And he had remarkably good posture.

"That's the last problem!" He would announce eventually. "Thank you for your help!" Again, smiling.

And then he would glance again at the magic book. He hesitated. "So, on another note... I'm not in any classes for magic, yet. But I still want to keep learning. And... I remember you know a lot about it..."

Caissa knew where this was going the minute Gany started talking. Her lips pursed together into a small frown and she did, in fact, cut him off with a single sentence.

"I don't tutor magic."

She sighed and clicked her pen back closed as she leaned backwards in her seat. Of course he wanted to learn magic. Magic was soooo cool. Caissa glanced over at Gany and sighed. He was a cute kid. If he had been older, he'd be exactly the kind of guy she'd bully and tease for a laugh. Be nice, she reminded herself. You did kinda lose your shit on this kid before.

"I can't do magic. At all. I can use some items that are already imbued with it, but spells and shit I work with always fail. And I get summoned a dozen or more times a year to help asshole wizards with their spells, so I'm not too keen on doing it on my own time."

Ganymede was clearly disappointed. And maybe even a little sad for Caissa. It seemed wrong, that Caissa would be such a genius, and she would know so much about magic, but she couldn't do it for herself. She even had to answer Paimon's calls for him, which seemed even crueler now that he knew about this.

But from this moment of despair came a glimmer of hope. He had an idea. It felt like a stretch, but he was willing to at least try. "...what if I did magic for you? I could come cast spells for you when you wanted."

Originally, Ganymede meant to offer a service like this to make things right. He came through that door thinking that serving her for a while in exchange for his safety would be an ideal outcome.

Caissa quirked an eyebrow at Ganymede's offer as she said back in her chair to stretch out her legs under the table. She spoke without thinking, a trait she actually very much enjoyed as one of those things that made her feel like she was still a person. "I think you're the first person to offer to do magic for me."

She contemplated that offer for a few seconds, chewing on her lip hard. "What kind of magic can you even do? I mean I can see some of what you're capable of, but that doesn't really give me much to go on."

"By myself, so far... I have flavoring spells, spells to keep food warm or cold, a spell to carbonate a drink, and I have spells for cleaning and tidying up. And since it's sort of magic, I have a power that a lot of people think is teleportation. I'm actually moving around like a spirit, sort of. But it's fast, so if you needed me to hurry to meet you somewhere I could do that."

He supposed that wasn't a lot. It was nice to have around, he was sure - his master always appreciated it - but he was suddenly self conscious about how little he could really do. How unimpressive it was, relatively. But he did come up with a selling point:

"...I'll also know whatever magic you would teach me."

Caissa grinned, her eyes narrowing at Ganymede as he concluded his little spiel. He really was just a house husband, given the magic he'd told her that he had. It was cute, in a weird 'this kid was definitely a slave or something' kind of way.

She tapped her pen against her desk a couple of times, considering his offer. "I'll tentatively agree. Hell knows I don't clean my dorm room as much as I should. But I gotta ask, kiddo. What kind of magic do you want to learn?"

It'd be easier to ask him what magic he didn't want to learn. But he had a few priorities. Things that were related to spells he already knew, so he could build off of previous knowledge. Things he had a good reason to want.

"Well... one of the top things i wanted to learn about was fire magic, because, fire can do a lot, and one of the people I live with now is a fire elemental. And I could probably..."

He would go on for a little bit about how the heating spells he already knew could help him learn pyromancy. It was fairly technical, and it made sense given the way he learned and practiced magic.

"I guess I could teach you that stuff," Caissa said after a minute of contemplation. She checked in her bag and looked at her phone briefly, seeing if she had any messages. None. Oh well.

"I'll probably also have some magic that I want you to learn for my benefit, since you're offering." Her violet eyes flicked to the clock. They'd finished his math in record time, but she really didn't want to deal with magic tutoring right now.

"Does that sound acceptable?"

So, he would get to learn and practice magic with an avatar of Paimon, with the price being that some of the learning and practicing would be for her benefit. That wasn't too steep of a price, as he saw it.

"That sounds acceptable." Smiling, nodding vigorously. His own master had consulted this woman on magical matters before - just think of how much he could learn! "Did you want me to help with your dorm room before I go home?"
