So Far, So Bad

Allie was wearing a black shirt and black cullottes she looked rather emo that particular day. She wore a hat that kept her eyes out of view. She looked at the sky, rain fell around her. At first look a person would think she was a angry type of person but they didn't know she was smiling lightly at the rain at first glance. She sighed, she had been going to the academy for a while everything was so lonesome. She knew she was particularly new to SA but she also knew she wasn't the type to become friends instantly. She wasn't open to people, she was closed or cracked but never open.

She gazed at the forest deciding to walk in, she soon lost her good cheery mood remembering a 'friend' she had who left her. She sighed tugging her hat down a bit more so she wouldn't be discovered or have to talk to a person. She was glad it wasn't a thunderstorm or she'd probably have ran back to the nearest shelter and hid. She wasn't good with lightning, she did have the power of wind, but in a time like that she probably wouldn't be thinking logically.

She let the rain fall against her skin, she liked how cool and refreshing the rain felt. Even more so how just standing in the cold rain could ease one's emotional suffering. She wondered if she should just go to town and busy herself with something. But she wasn't in the shopping for electronics or movie mood. She sighed sitting against a tree letting the rain just run down her skin and slowly drench her clothes.

She wasn't depressed but she wasn't happy. She was in a inbetween mood, not in the mood to dance in the rain. And not in the mood to cry in it.

SKittles looked rather the opposite of Allie on the rainy day. She'd decked herself out for the rain. After all. It wasn't every day you got a thunderstorm, and she aboslutely loved them. So she wore bright green puddle boots, a black and white stripey rain coat, and a bright pink rain hat. Over, of course, her customary jeans. And who knew what shirt?

However, all of her clothing really did nothing. Or rather, it would have done everything, had she not been lying down in the growing puddles of rain, looking up at the sky, blinking now an again when a raindrop got in her eye.

However, when the other girl entered Skittle's range of sensing, there was no mistaking it. It was like an elephant of emotion trample on top of Skittles and then trumpeted at her. She sat up and spun around, facing Allie, who was hiding beneath a tree.

"Hi!" she called, waving her hand cheerfully. She blinked quickly several times to get the raindrops out of her eyes as she hopped up and trotted over to the other girl. "Did you know that it's safer to be out in the open then under a tree in a thunderstorm?" she questioned cheerfully, squinting blurrily at the girl, since getting several high speed raindrops in your eyes can do that sometimes.

As usual, in the presence of somebody who was hurting, Skittle's personality altered slightly, and she exited her own shell to make the other feel comfortable. "I'm Skittles." she introduced herself, smiling softly.

"Hi! Did you know that it's safer to be out in the open then under a tree in a thunderstorm?"

Allie's eyes widened, "Th... Thunderstorm?!" She nearly jumped with fright, 'There wasn't supposed to be a thunderstorm today!' She thought with a bit of panic, she composed herself trying to look like any normal person without fear of thunderstorms with lightning. She nearly missed the girl's name because her mind was racing about the thunderstorm.

"I'm Skittles."

Allie looked at the girl and offered a weak smile. "I'm Allie." She said extending her hand, she wasn't unpolite if someone had already introduced themself. She'd return the introduction, she wasn't good with conversation that's why she stayed by herself even moreso. She didn't know how to make friends well.

She looked at the sky feeling the wind to see how far the lightning was from them. She growled inwardly, how could she be so dumb to not check if lightning was around when she had the power of wind and could easily have checked. She wanted to hit herself on the head for being so ignorant.

Skittles cocked her head to the side as she shook Allie's hand. "Welll... Lightning always strikes the tallest thing around. Something about electrons and..err.." she grinned sheepishly, "Forget that. At any rate, I think we're safe."

She took her hand back and giggled a bit. "Besides. The lightning'll go for me first." She changed it from a suggestion about the other girl's height into something funnier though. She did a piroette. "Lightning likes brightly colored things, don't you know." she knew she sounded horribly Canadian, but one can't just shove off one's roots.

And she was determined to make this girl laugh at least a little tiny bit before she'd even bother considering her work finished.

"Welll... Lightning always strikes the tallest thing around. Something about electrons and..err.. Forget that. At any rate, I think we're safe."

She looked at her with a 'how did you know that' look. She decided to not ask, she guessed it was a power. She didn't know exactly what the power was, but she guessed the girl could read minds or something. She looked at her, "Um... does the lightning really just strike tall things?" She said with a shifty look, she really wasn't comfortable with the idea of lightning. Well nature's lightning, if it was a person's power she knew she could aviod it. Whereas natural lightning she wasn't so sure about.

"Besides. The lightning'll go for me first. Lightning likes brightly colored things, don't you know."

Allie raised her eyebrow, "Um... I highly doubt lightning has a preference in colors. If it did everyone would wear whatever the lightning didn't like." She said wondering why the girl was acting so pecular. She seemed a bit hyper, she didn't know the girl could sense her inward sadness. She imagined the girl had to be a bit odd, but she wasn't gonna laugh at her seeing she didn't know the girl was trying to make her laugh she figured the girl was a wee bit touched in the head.

She looked at her watch, she never usually had one on. She noticed the metal on it, and immediately took the watch off and threw it on the ground. She wasn't about to have metal on her incase lightning was attracted by metal. She knew it sounded illogical but it helped her not hover in a corner cowering when there was a thunderstorm. She had some illogical fears, she also was afraid of germs. Not to the extent that she wouldn't touch a person's hand but she was the type of person who could never wash their hands enough.

She was looked at the girl, "Are you always so bright and erm... cheery?" She asked out of nowhere. She really didn't want to hang around some freakishly happy person that made her a bit freaked out from the extensive extent of un-emoness in this girl's attitude. One would think the girl never had anything bad happen to her seeing that she was a bit erm... overly happy?

Skittles nodded. "Yeah. I'm positive. It always strikes the tallest thing around." she grinned, then rubbed the back of her neck, hoping the other didn't ask HOW exactly she knew. She didn't voluntarily put the information that she read encyclopedias for fun out in the open.

For a moment, Skittles walls went back up, and even though she was still smiling, her eyes went dull. Then she shook her head. "No... Normally I'm not. The rain makes me happy." she smiled and cocked her head at the girl, "In fact, I'm probably going to regret ever being this hyper around somebody." she shrugged.

She failed to mention that she already did, and was, at the moment, resisting the urge to take her leave and leave Allie alone in the storm. The rain grew harder, and made little plastic patter noises on her coat as she stood a bit of a distance from the tree.

"Yeah. I'm positive. It always strikes the tallest thing around."

She looked at the sky unsure, she still was scared of it. But she decided it was better to not let on that her fear wasn't gone. She wasn't very sure of the girl's words, but she moved away from the tree incase she was right. She could sense the storm was moving closer.

"No... Normally I'm not. The rain makes me happy. In fact, I'm probably going to regret ever being this hyper around somebody."

Allie smiled lightly, "I see... Rain is pretty isn't it? Someone once told me it's tears of God for the people of the earth." She said looking up at the sky. She could sense the girl's change, she didn't mean to make the girl feel like a idiot. She guessed she made a boo boo, she decided to try and fix it. "You know..." She was about to try to cheer her up when a flash of lightning shone in the sky. She jumped and clung to the girl she was white with fear. She heard the rumble of thunder and the flash soon followed making the girl cling moreso.
