Clèment opened his jaw into smile again and let out a laugh of his own, his shoulders shaking in time with his chuckles. "I am glad you like the idea. I may just do that then, I'll keep you informed so that you can come watch if you have time."

His laughter dying down, Clèment crossed one leg over the other and rested his coffee cup on his knee, keeping one hand on it while he gestured with the other. "Beyond your work in biology, how are your magical studies coming? I have admittedly let myself slip, focusing on more mundane topics as of late." He absentmindedly traced some of the lines etched into his skull as he spoke, reminding himself that he might need to touch some of them up.

"Oh, I've been slacking as well. I haven't come up with anything new this past century in fact. I've kept most of my work on golems, expensive work if not done properly but fullfilling once a long term build is completed." Trent paused on a paper in front of him and brought it closer looking at the pen markings on the page.

"I tell them not to use blue ink pens, I can't see blue ink on white paper I said." Letting out a soft sigh of mild frustration as he put a finger to his temple and tapped it twice gently and a red lense glasses Manifested there. "I don't like wearing these. They make me look ridiculous."

Clèment nodded along again. "All good magic takes time though. The sigils I keep around my phylactery took months for planning, sketching, and preparation to get right. But it's worth it, knowing that it's safe. Regardless, golems are very practical as well. I remember we had several in my old cabal for menial labor."

At the mention of the glasses, Clèment says, "Being in this form, do you get any phantom sensations from your draconic form? I find that occasionally, I will feel the need to blink or to scratch my nose. It used to be quite unsettling."

Trent nodded at the comment on magic being better when it takes it's time. Though the next question did make Trent look over the rims of the glasses at the lich before writing a mark on the paper giving it a lower grade then what it could have been because it used a blue pen. "Yeah, though for me I feel as if I'm overly compressed and and I need to stretch my wings." Giving another smile though he put the paper down and retrieved a new one before continuing.

"I'd have to say that the hardest part is as I get older it's harder and harder to breath being this small. it honeslty shouldn't feel lke there should be any real issue but even with my magic I can't seem to shake the feeling I am harming myself if I'm 'human' for to long. and I can't be dragon form here, I'm just to big for it any more. People would think some sort of Kaiju is assaulting the city if I did." There was a harsh laugh of self deprecation at that.

"That is something I'm envious of you actually. You get to stay the same size, while every once and a while I have to practically eat an entire nation out of it's livestock." Trent was of course exaggerating, he in fact had his own special fomuli to keep himself alive with only the occasional need for a meal.

Clèment looked out the window, checking to see how late it was getting. He knew his alarm would go off when it was time for him to leave for his next class, but he disliked relying on technology.

"Ah... Kaiju. Those are... the monsters from Japan, yes? I'm still so terribly behind on popular culture. I really should take some time to familiarize myself with it."

Clèment visibly cringed a bit when Trent finished explaining how he was jealous of the lich. He took a moment to relax his shoulders and laugh off his momentary loss of composure. "Immortality seems to have its price for everyone. It's not terribly unpleasant most days. But I will say that my one most vivid memory is of the ritual that made me this way. It was... frightfully painful, to put it mildly. The only book I've ever burned was that one. No one else needs to go through that.
I suppose everything is a trade-off though. There must be somewhere you can go to stretch yourself out every now and again. One of the islets, perhaps?"

"Oh I have my lair under one of the larger mountains nearby. It's large enough to accommodate me for now, and if needed I can dig deeper for more space." Taking the final sip from his tea he also pulled over the last few papers to grade and seeing them both satisfactory he marked them both the the proper grades. It was then that it seemed like Trent finally relaxed and sat back fully and stretched his back a few vertebrae popped.

"Though I'm pretty sure that you have your own ways to feel more alive." Trent leaned forward then and looked at the lich with curious eyes. "Don't want to pry but I'm thinking I need something new to stimulate my brain. but I'm curious, what sort of sigils do you use? I want to see if they might be similar to some of the other runes and sigils I use myself." He wasn't asking for stuff that the lich used for his phylactery, he was curious about what the lich used for his magic.

"Yes, of course. To be truthful, I have sort of fallen into a rut with my sigils, having found formulae that work for me well enough." Clèment likewise leaned backward in his chair, placing his coffee cup on the window sill next to him so that he could rest both feet on the ground, and so he would have space on the table.

He then simply plucked his head off his neck and sat it down on the coffee table. He noticed a few other patrons stare momentarily at this action, but he paid it no heed.
Carefully, he began pointing out the complex circles and symbols carved into his skull. "When I first started utilizing sigils for my magic, I found that many of them were based on Goetian imagery and the supposed Seals of Solomon."

"Those served their purpose, but I found that by supplementing those formulae with Rune magic found among the ancient Scandinavians and some of the image of modern vodou, I could strengthen and refine the sigils themselves."

"These you see here are quite strong, but they only really protect against magic that would affect my mind. Mind reading, domination, that sort of thing. I don't really have enough surface area to protect against things like physical damage, andaking the sigils more general purpose would only serve to weaken them overall."

Tapping his skull as he finished, Clèment turned his eye sockets back to his companion, leaving the skull where it lay on the table. He folded his finger bones together thoughtfully. "You come from a different world though. Are your magics similar at all to those used here? It would be interesting if such a commonality existed, and would speak volumes to the nature of the multiverse."

Trent looked at the sigil that the Lich had drawn on his bones, it was complex but still had its short cuts into simplicity. Usually that made a rune or sigil more stable because it was able to take more adjustments to it's magic then a more complex rune that even a simple misplacement of a line might shatter the whole of the rune. "I do see a couple of similarities in it's simplification, but I'm not seeing a lot that is similar."

Taking a moment to draw one of his own runes for deterrents for divination and domination types of magic, though not on his person like the Lich, His were a myriad of circles and sharp lines going in and out of the circle with a few sigils in his native Draconian tongue of the Copper dragons. It made a compact and complex rune circle which once in place allowed him to remove the unnecessary lines simplifying the structure now that the magic knew which arcane lines to run across. "Now with my own studies I've been able to 'compound' runes and sigils into rune circles. This allows me to make more complex runes that can do more in a smaller amount of space."

With a motion of his hand the run placed itself on the table glowing for a second before fading into a background glow that was overpowered by the rest of the lighting in the coffee shop. "This one in particular is now preventing magical and mundane forms of eavesdropping on our conversation."

"Interesting. Very interesting, actually. I must say that I'm impressed with how quickly you are able to create such a powerful ward, and with such little space too. My own skull runes took me weeks to plan and just as long to actually carve, not to mention the surface area required. Though I suppose there are likely limits on the advancement of magic in this world that your didn't experience."
As the lich spoke, he picked up his skull and placed it on his spine with an audible click. Once in place, he rolled his shoulders and twisted his neck back and forth to make sure that everything was put together properly.

"My own runes also have the unfortunate necessity of needing to be drafted on sturdy material, such as bone or metal, to really have any oomph behind them. Perhaps we could compare notes sometime, really delve in and see just what similarities there might be. Your method is clearly more efficient, and if you wouldn't mind I'd love to try and incorporate some of those formulae into my future protections."

He paused, tapping the arm of his chair and looking off as if he were remembering something. "One can never be too careful when it comes to 'That Which Mortal Men Were Not Meant to Know.'"
