His growl like snores filled the air, his tail wrapped around himself as he slept. The young dragon had found a clearing between trees to nap in, one of his wings occasionally twitching slightly. He was dreaming odd dreams, of snow and the forest, he was lost in that forest, the scents and trails he used to find his way were twisted and wrong.

Then his nose twitched as it picked up a scent, it brought him back to the waking world. One of his eyes opened, the yellow glowing orb looking over at his visitor. A human girl, probably a few years older than him.

Eein would yawn, his head raising and glancing at her, said head tilting catlike in curiosity. "Watcha doing?" he'd ask with a raised eyebrow, "don't think anyone's ever come to watch me nap before."

The wind was cold on the side of her head, where the hair was not even an inch long. The wheels of the skateboard rolled smoothly, and every time the speed slowed down even a bit she kicked the ground and flew again. The ground was smooth, but that was because of the ice coating it, and even a small wrong move could send her flying. But Thabisa didn't care, she had confidence in her balance and skill. Maybe a bit too much, since she refused to slow down. She wanted to go fast, that was an obsession of hers.

This island was whack, in both good and bad ways. There were lots of freaky people and ways and those were Thabisa's style. It was cool to see a crowd, where there was no way the faces became a blur. Not when one dude had a mouth with tusks and some woman had six eyes. Thabisa had no idea if these thoughts of hers were racist, but she didn't really give a fuck. The diversity inspired her, and she had already filled two sketchbooks with illustrations.
And then there were the bad things. Like shops selling human meat, that really made Thabisa's skin crawl. And the fact that she felt she got buried in the sea of weirdness. Thabisa liked to stand out, flaunt her uniqueness, but on this island she felt really...ordinary. By human standards Thabisa was weird, but on this island she was a nobody. And since she was over 6 years away from the timeline she was supposed to be on Thabisa didn't want to be a nobody. She didn't want to float and get forgotten by time. But at this rate it looked like that was going to happen.
That pissed Thabisa off and terrified her at the same time.

With frustrated huff Thabisa kicked the ground again, and made a mistake. There was a bump on the road, and Thabisa moved to dodge it too late. The skateboard flew from under her and Thabisa flew to the side of the road, on a grassy spot by the trees. She hissed a bit, when her ankle ached, and let out another frustrated huff and stood up. That was when Thabisa heard a weird sound, like a monster growl or something. She looked behind her and saw something in between the trees. Thabisa frowned, went to pick up her hot pink and black board and sneaked over to the sound to see what it was.

What Thabisa saw was pretty fucking awesome. A dragon, just casually napping. Thabisa gasped silently, and quickly took out the space gem. She tapped each side of it once and then reached into the pocket dimension she had made long ago, pulling out her sketchbook and a pen. And then Thabisa just put her skateboard on the ground, sat on it and began sketching the dragon, not really caring if it woke up or not. No way she was missing this, Thabisa had not ever seen a real life dragon.

Thabisa was in the middle of finishing the dragon's wing, when it woke up and talked to her. With a quick movement Thabisa looked up, was it pissed? Nah, it seemed chill, pretty too chill considering someone was just casually sitting near it when it slept.
"I'm not just watching, I'm not a creep. I'm drawing, you've got some real nice aesthetic there."
Thabisa gestured at the dragon with her pen then, her South African accent very clear in her voice.
"Ain't never seen a dragon before. Could ya do me a favor and let me draw to the end? Shouldn't take long."

"Drawing?" he'd ask, one of his hands coming up and scratching his cheek, followed by another yawn. "Nice aesthetic...," he'd chuckle, which of course sounded growl-like, "yeah, I'd say I'm pretty cool looking." His tail would unwrap and stretch a bit before resting loosely around him.

He'd let out a thoughtful hum, "new to the island eh?" he'd ask, "well you'll see lots of here, big family groups...though with our human forms you may not always know when you see us." He'd chuckle, relaxing, not in any hurry to get up.

The dragon would nod. "Yeah go ahead, I don't have anywhere to be," the tip of his tail swayed very slightly. "Aren't you cold though?" snow was finally not an issue but it was still chilly. "Oh, I'm Eein," he'd give his introduction with a nod, since shaking hands wasn't an option.

Thabisa raised a brow at the dragon's self-praise, amused but not showing it, and she managed to finish sketching the wing.
"Guess the stories 'bout dragons being vain ain't just for show. Don't let your aesthetic get to your head, pretty boy."
Or at least Thabisa assumed the dragon was a boy, maybe all dragons had deep male voices like that, she wouldn't know.

"You guys got human forms? No wonder I haven't seen any, I'm bad with human faces. Sometimes they all look the same."
Thabisa was done with a rough sketch, now she began adding some other illustrations and patterns to it, forming a rough tattoo design. It was all about the composition, really. How she framed the dragon in the middle, and what pose it should be in.
"This island is new for me, sure, but I've lived this time already. I swear, I forgot how shitty phones were back now."

This dragon was bit too chill, but guess you could be when you were a dragon. This dude could easily bite Thabisa in half.
"Shouldn't you be a bit more suspicious of a random chick that suddenly wants to draw you? What if I'm some witch that curses people through drawings. You'd be in deep shit."
Thabisa stood up, and began circling around the dragon, wanting to see it from another perspective. She blew some hair off her face and did a sketch of just the dragon's head.
"Anyway, I'm Thabisa, and don't worry 'bout nothing, pretty boy. I've got myself covered."
Literally, she opened her jacket zipper and showed she was wearing multiple layers, not getting cold anytime soon.

Oh she was a fun one, he could tell that already. He'd snort a bit, "don't worry about it going to my head, buy yeah, we dragons are proud creatures," he'd chuckle, "so make sure you're getting my good side," he was joking of course, enjoying their banter.

"Lived this time?" he'd ask, squinting a little, "you a time jumper?" He'd met a few, had class with one, time travel sounded like a complex thing.

He'd laugh, "not good with faces? You're going to go mad when you start seeing our human forms." He'd snicker again, "there are two big dragon groups on the island, the Drakenhardts and the Alpine group, I'm a member of the later." He'd tilt his head, "all the Drakenhardts have red hair, and most of the Alpine group have blue."

"Careful with the witch comments," he'd say with a chuckle, not angry at all, "witches are common here, and I've seen stranger things than someone drawing me while I nap."

His eyes followed her as she circled her, "what I'm interested in is why you're doing it? Well....besides me being nice looking...newcomers usually won't approach a dragon until they've lived on the island longer."

"I'm not surprised you're not surprised, I bet if you threw a rock in any direction here it'd hit a time traveler."
Thabisa clicked her tongue a bit at that, they had said that she shouldn't have to worry, there were others like her on the island. Yeah, but none of them had been fucking kidnapped by a space-time-wizard, and even though the authorities had said Thabisa was safe here she didn't trust anyone one bit. For all she knew this could all be a big scam, so she stayed on her toes.
"More like dimension jumper and time got all messed up while I was doing that."

"You're colour coded? That helps. Do you come with pre-packaged instructions as well?"
This guy was a real chuckler and a nice guy, not what Thabisa had expected from a dragon. Maybe she had expected more, you know, edge. Not a pretty boy who chuckled at stranger's snarky comments. Well, there was no way all dragons were going to be the same just like every human wasn't the same.

"Sure you have, Chuckles. Wouldn't be surprised if you were cursed already with that attitude."
Thabisa sent a look at Eein over her sketchbook, her pierced brow elevated. She wanted to see this guy angry or something, like, dragon angry. Roaring or something. Thabisa wasn't about to piss off a dragon just to see him angry, but little poking hurt no one. Except Eein, but he could take it.

"Why? Dude, I'm a normal human who has never seen a dragon, of fucking course I'm going to sketch you. Dragons make the most rad tattoos. Though for you it'd probably be like tattooing a face shot of yourself on your skin. Though you'd like that wouldn't ya?"
Now Thabisa grinned a bit, and it was her turn to snicker. Maybe she was being a bit too rude towards someone who was letting her sketch him, but Eein just seemed to beg for some teasing. That attitude kinda rubbed Thabisa the wrong way.

"Interesting," he'd hum in thought, "I hear time magic is tricky stuff, easily twisted and confusing." It was a subject his mom had studied, one of many things she'd studied. "Assuming it's magic and not tech you deal with," could be both, could be a lot of things.

"Color coded," he'd laugh at this, a laugh that almost sounded like a roar, "definitely, most of the red heads are fire users, pretty much all use blue haired dragons are ice users." It was strange that they were like that, an odd genetics thing he supposed.

"Attitude?" he'd ask curiously, "we're you expecting Smaug? All roary and gold hoarding?" Some would find that thought racist, but Eein knew that there actually were a lot of dragons that did that. "I could roar a bit if you'd like, breathe a bit of blue fire."

He'd snort, "I'm not that vain," he'd say, "though getting a tattoo could be cool." He'd look over her, down at the sketch of him before moving back to his spot. "Not bad," he'd scratch his chin, "you a tattoo artist?" she looked a little young for that, but she could be older than she looked.

It wasn't exactly the kind of roar Thabisa had wished to see, but she took it and started a new sketch, suing the expression from just now as a base for an angry dragon, curled up around its treasure. Cliche, yes, but you gotta start somewhere.
"Well, that's handy. And must be annoying for anyone who's got blue or red hair and nothing to do with those dragon families. I got to remember not to dye my hair red or blue."

"Smaug? I have no idea who that is, but I assume it's some popular dragon from this era. I was a little brat last time I was here, so I wouldn't know. Well, guess I'm still a little brat."
It was all just fucking confusing, and Thabisa shrugged. She just...tried not to think about it. She should just get through 5 years, catch up on high school, return to her proper time and for the rest of her life pretend like this all never happened.
But she would definitely keep these designs.
"And save the fire breathing, I'm not about to ask you to burn the whole damn forest down."

When Eein came over to look at the sketch Thabisa let him see it, why not, it was a picture of him after all. And whether he liked it or not didn't really matter, Thabisa was pretty happy with it.
"Wait 'til you're tall enough for that ride. For some reason I get the feeling you still don't got enough years under your belt."
Maybe it was the way Eein spoke or acted, Thabisa got the feeling he was younger than her.
"And I'm not, at least not yet. But soon, and if you pay me I'll get that face shot on your skin when you get old enough."

"Basically yeah, Smaug is a popular dragon from movies and a book," he'd yawn once more and finished his stretching. "The most stereotypical fire dragon you can imagine, guarded a mountain full of gold and everything," he had no hatred of fictional dragon stories, he even enjoyed some, they were written by people who didn't think dragons existed afterall.

"My fire would freeze the forest, not burn it," his tail would brush some leaves from his back. "So..eh," he'd blow a puff blue flame that quickly vanished.

"And how old do you think I am?" he'd ask curiously, "haven't seen a dragon before, so it can't be by how I look."

"And you're saying normal dragons don't got mountains of gold? There goes my retirement plan, guess I gotta rob a bank like a normal person."
Har har, she was so funny. But despite joking Thabisa had a straight face, as she kept sketching. The page she had open was already full of simple quick sketches, this would be useful later.

The blue flame did look pretty awesome, though Thabisa instinctively took a step back since normally blue fire was the hottest fire in nature. But nothing got set on fire, and Thabisa got to witness a cool visual. So she was also like eh and just did a quick sketch of a dragon heard spewing fire. When she'd later colour it the fire would be blue.

"You've got the vibe of a teenage boy. Around 16 or 17. And if you try to claim you're over 25 I'm calling bullshit."
Thabisa took pride in being perceptive and good at noticing these kinds of things, so she was confident in her estimate.
"But don't become human or anything, I'm not done yet."
