Painter lies in the bead in a coma from excessive internal bleeding. His rib had cracked earlier and dug into an organ, cutting it open and making blood spill within his body. The area on the skin surface is several ugly colors, made up of purple blue and red, and his breathing is labored. On his right arm there is an IV hooked up into his wrist, pumping drugs into his body and keeping him alive. However, within his mind he is haunted by a new dream, one that is both peculiar and frightening at the same time...
He stands in a graveyard in the middle of a full moon night. He's alone and afraid, the graves around him looming and intimidating. He begins to wander around quietly, his wings spread out on either side of him, creating an intimidating shadow.
After walking a few yards, he sees a freshly compiled grave and walks over to it, reading the tombstone hanging overhead:
Allie Corellaz
Wingless Wonder
Enemy to the witch
and all her followers
Painter steps back, suddenly frightened. He begins to look around, frightened and afraid. Suddenly he notices another tombstone, right next to Allie's, with his name on it. He walks over to it, shaking in disbelief and runs his hand gently over the inscription. He looks up, just in time to see a man materialize from the shadows.
"Hello...," the voice says to him, "I see you found your gravestone.." The man smiles darkly, letting his words sink into Painter's head before continuing, "You and Allie fought valiantly against the witch..but fell nonetheless. She was more powerful than you and Allie anticipated because she had grown more powerful over the years since Allie's demise. This is a warning to you, when you think you're ready to fight the witch, you're not. Find a man names Axel and try to convince him to train both you and Allie, only when he finishes will the two of you be truly ready.." With a glance at the tombstone again, the man sighs, "Now return and tell this to Allie, so she can be prepared as well.."
Suddenly, the world around him seems to shift and...
Painter opens his eyes, lying in the bed. He glances down at his shirtless body, the wound making him close his eyes painfully.
