"Marnie, are you sure you're not going to skip school today? Your power class teacher is very worried!" An older woman with curly light brown hair looked down at her daughter with a very apathetic look on her face as if she was trying to convey emotion, but sadly failing. Marnie tried to look up at her mother, but she was paying more attention to two ants having a conversation.

"How are we going to eat this loaf of-- what's it called?"

"Bread! Gee, when will you learn you goddamn rookie? We call in the troops!!!"

Marnie stooped down and tried to pick up the loaf of bread, but felt her mother smack her across the shoulder and pick her back up by the hood of her jacket. "Marnie, pay attention to me! I'm trying to be a parent, but you just-- You just won't let me..." Her mother sighed, her mother was an elementary school teacher at the Starlight Public school for 'normal children' that had no powers whatsoever. Marnie was hurt by the fact that her own mother loved the normal and boring children more than she loved her. Her mother was a telepathic who hated her powers and wanted so desperately to blend into human society, her own parents were normal until they forced her to go to Starlight. Her mother met her father there, she was an average student who enrolled in yearbook and hated the fact that she had to take pictures of people who had more than two arms, pastel colored skin, and an appetite for human flesh. After having four children and settling down, she became a teacher in the normal public school. The children and some of the staff were the last things closer to average and boring than practically anything. Her mother grew up in self-hate and blamed it on Marnie, not her shy and perfect sister Serenity...

"Look, I have to go to umm... a teacher meeting! Please attend school, I know detention was hard and all but we just have to deal with things, Marnie. You'll know understand when you grow up. Bye honey!" Her mother stooped down and kissed her on the cheek before departing. Marnie let out a small sigh and walked over the two ants who now had a trail of other ants following right behind them, all of the rushed conversations about work and mating made Marnie's head hurt since there were so many of them. I guess I have to the what mommy says... The little werewolf thought, beginning to unexpectedly grow ears. Marnie's hat fell off, she quickly picked her pink rabbit ear hat up and placed it over her head to hide the ears. The little girl stopped in front of the iron gates, she has been skipping class for a week and hasn't returned ever since the best friend she 'saved' from a bully had a new best friend.

Marnie ran into the school and headed for the monkey bars, she almost ran into her teacher. Thankfully, they didn't see her and she was able to swiftly run outside. Marnie finally made it to the empty playground, everyone was in their respective morning classes except for the little werewolf girl. She slowly walked over to the monkey bars with a satisfied grin, before feeling herself slowly transform. Oh no! Marnie thought, and before you know it she was in her artic pup form Now she looked like a small wolf pup with a pink bunny ear hat on her head. She ran over to the monkey bars and started chasing her tail, hoping that no one would recognize her...

Summer was always tough on Hari. He personally didn't know what to do this time of the year. He didn't really like the beach or parties so he found himself with too much free time on his hands. He preferred to keep busy. It was unfortunate that his idea of keeping busy these days involved less schoolwork and more forays into the dangerous wilderness of the Manta Carlos forest.

Today wasn't any different. When the sun rose this morning, Hari left the dangerous cavern he was visiting and headed back into the city. The city and the forest had entirely different sounds and lights, even quality of air. In any other place, he might've looked odd walking barefoot and covered in dirt, but good old Manta Carlos never looked twice at oddities.

As he walked back from his expedition, a little dirty and a little out of breath with a knapsack filled with various shiny objects, he stopped by a nearby shawarma stall and bought one. He rested at a park bench, nibbling on his brunch when he caught sight of a small pup running over to the monkey bars.

It would be rude not to share.

He stood up despite his bones aching in protest and knelt nearby. "Come here, dear. Have you eaten?"

The wolf pup was too busy focusing on her tail until she heard a male voice. She panted and looked up, the boy was kneeling and he had food in his hand. Marnie took note of his barefeet and assumed that he was a homeless fellow, she remembered her father telling her that there are people that don't have a roof over their heads and clothes on their back. She didn't want the food since she has eaten but she couldn't control herself in her wolf form and tugged on the treat with her teeth.

Marnie snatched the treat away with her jaws, she tore into the brunch not really knowing what it was. She swallowed part of the food anyway ahd the brunch looked like it was sloppily cut in half. Marnie pushed the brunch over to the older boy's feet and nuzzled his pants leg as if to apologize for her behaviour. Her pink bunny ear hat fell of but she didn't mind, she hoped the stranger wasn't mad at her.

Hari reached out to rub the pup's head and the back of her ears with his fingers, humming in thought. He wasn't mad. He couldn't begrudge animals for their nature. Besides, these days, eating was hardly necessary because of photosynthesis. "It's all right, dear, I'm not mad but you sure made a mess here."

He used the tissues he got to pick up the mess and threw them in the trash. When he was done, he knelt in front of the pup again, gently petting her head. "An arctic wolf. We don't see your kind in the Manta Carlos forest because of the climate so you're either..." He stopped petting her. "An exotic pet or a werewolf. Either way, you're young enough that you shouldn't be left alone."

He stood up, clapping his hands. "Come on, girl. Come on. Let's head over to the police station~" He whistled, waving his fingers in front of her. He took a couple of steps to see if she'd follow.
