Strike Commander DeShawn Franklin was not a man easily shaken. He had seen death and he had seen war. And in the last ten years, he had seen so much worse. Creatures he hadn't even fathomed since he was a kid afraid of the dark.

But DeShawn was not a scared little kid anymore. He had looked into the very face of darkness and found within him a resolve few he knew could match. And now, living in this den of monsters, he had his mission ahead of him. Retrieve the boy. Retrieve or destroy the hard drive. Make sure no copies exist.

Getting to the island had been the truly difficult part. Finding a way to contact these so-called "Veil" agents. Lying his way through the process of receiving their "pardon" had been easy. Pardon. What a joke. What did he need to be pardoned for? For protecting his people from monsters? No. He may have said the words and signed the documents, but DeShawn had no intention of honoring their "pardon." He was going to finish his mission even if it killed him.

"Alright men," he said, knocking back his shot of liquor as he stared at the soldiers who had come with him. He stayed quiet as he spoke, his voice barely a whisper. "Go about your business. Learn what you can. Don't stick your dick in a hornet's nest." The toast they all shared as they finished their drinks and parted ways steeled him.

"Semper Fi." He had plans to make.
