House arrest was surprisingly fine. Shay felt like it was almost an adolescence duty of hers to complain about it, or act as if it were some big inconvenience, but in truth, she couldn't have functioned outside. She couldn't return to school. See his stupid smug face. Hear the jeers. She couldn't do those things yet.
So, she was stuck in the mansion with Rosales gang members, her family, and at times friendly visits (between Alain, Vincenzo, and Valentine). She'd gotten to have a tea party with Klaus and Vince, and anytime she went out, she was accompanied by Ardos, Rin, and often times Klaus himself. All in all, it wasn't a bad time.
Shay fluctuated between moments of more or less normal behavior, to hiding away in her room with the door shut and music on a low constant stream. She went from complete alertness to zoning out and losing herself in books, television, or --worst of all-- her own mind.
Shay figured it was the illness going around, but she felt fucking great. No coughing up blood. No aches. No headaches. No intense stomach pains. She had more energy than she'd had in awhile. While her sleep schedule was still a mess and nightmares were constant, things looked up. She could see through the storm and the darkness to a light above. She might not have been able to reach it yet, but it was there, and it gave her hope.
This particular day, with the mansion basically on lockdown from the bug going around, Shay sat in one of the Rosales living rooms, flipping through stations on the television and wearing a face mask to prevent any further spread.

It was unclear on just how Cordelia never got sick.
She figured it might be genetics, given that Vito had yet to get sick as well - but neither really knew. The young demon was grateful that it had not infected her as well as it gave her a chance to help around the mansion. It seemed everyone was coming down with something, the entire home going almost on lock down. Cordelia had to wear a mask and gloves to avoid getting sick even if she doubted she would catch it - if she hadn't caught it by now, how could she, right?
Helping around the house was demanding, and trying to keep up with all of her other activities felt draining.. But this was her family, and she would do whatever she could to help. As of right then, the redhead had been scampering between rooms and floors trying to change sheets and make sure everyone was eating. The headcount was difficult to keep track of but it was a good thing she had years to memorize them all.
Passing by a room on one of the slower points in her day, she noticed the flickering lights of the television. Cordelia poked her head in to find a familiar head of long dark hair. There was a smile that naturally came on her features, glad to see her sister back in good hands. The elder demon had been given the information late in the game, which always drove her crazy when she had no idea of what was going on, with what happened to the other. With the recent chaos, there was not much time she got to spend with her sister save for the party - and even then.
The daughter of pride entered the room, giving a light knock on the wall to announce her entrance more out of habit than anything else. Cordelia walked in, smoothing out her shirt as she approached the other Rosales daughter. "Shay, glad to see you out and about... How're you doing?" She asked, taking a seat on the arm of one of the couches. Cordelia always did that when she was never sure if someone would take well to her presence, so it was as if she could get up and leave at a moments notice. With all of the changes recently, she had been more on edge with people than usual.
"Are you sick too?" Despite not being sick herself, she wore a cloth mask over her nose and mouth. More of a precaution than anything else, but she found it bothersome since it got too warm or too stuffy.

Shay looked up as Cordelia entered. To her credit, she didn't jump when she heard her sister's voice. Then again, the Rosales Manor was the place she felt safest. Heavily guarded and with people everywhere. No, no one would hurt her here.
"Bored, mostly," she admitted somewhat deadpan before raising a hand to show Cori the so-so motion. "And yeah, but only with the Riddle Effect. So sick-not-sick. It's nice but strange being the not sick one while everyone else is all over the place."
Of course, the Riddle Effect just meant many of her unhealthy coping mechanisms were gone. The disassociation and the like. Curiously, Shay was doing better than she had been without it. Minus all the vomiting up blood bullshit, she didn't feel quite as many emotions as before.
"You can sit if you want," Shay said offhandedly when she noticed Cori seated on the couches arm. "Plenty of room. I take it you aren't sick? I don't think Quin is either. Or Vito. Everyone else, though? Sick and grumpy. This month fucking sucks."

One of the nice things about the manor, most everybody knew everybody. So getting around was pretty easy - unfortunately Cordelia theorized that was how most of the house got sick. It felt like everyone crossed paths at some point, even if it was just rushing by to get things done. But it made it easy to keep track of who was sick and who wasn't - the list was fairly short in terms of those who weren't contracting some disease or another.
"Better bored than feeling awful." Cordelia admitted and looked her sister over. It was nice to see her at the very least looking better, even if it was because of some other disease. "I would say you got lucky with what you contracted but that's not good to say either." She admitted with a small chuckle, nodding slightly to the other. Taking a seat, she smoothed down her skirt.
Shaking her head, she looked off to the flickering screen in front of both of them. "No, I'm not sick. Vito just has me wearing this stuff just in case... I've been trying to take care of those who are incapacitated from their illnesses." Cordelia explained. Though not physically sick, there was definitely a toll being taken on the demon from her frantic trying to keep up with everything. Now that classes were cooling down from the epidemic and jobs slowing, she still tried to get work done. And take care of the house.
"Hopefully the house arrest and all of this doesn't keep you bored forever. Is there anything I can do for you?" Asked the redhead, looking back to her sister with a small smile - the only hint of the movement being the movement around her eyes due to the mask covering her nose and mouth.

Shay stopped flicking through channels on the television to give Cordelia her full attention. Lately, with the sickness in effect, Shay didn't have dreams of people's deaths, or her own, but she had plenty of nightmares.
She often saw Nick's face. Heard his stupid fucking laughter or the way his eyes glinted. It was downright terrifying how much she knew about him, all the similarities she could see between him and Logan, the fact that she'd been attracted to those things before in Logan.
Shay reached up and scratched her forehead, pulling herself back to reality and focusing again on Cori. "I don't think so. Not anything off the top of my head, anyway." With more concern, Shay said, "Hey, you look pretty tired yourself. Can't be easy, taking care of everyone. Is there something I could do for you?"
She shifted on the couch to face her sister. "We could... I don't know, play Jenga or cards or something to help you relax?"

The young womans cheeks twitched, like she had meant to narrow her eyes or squint at her sister but decided against it just a split moment after the action was done. She stared at her sister as her mind wandered off into itself, distracting her conscious with images of the man who haunted her. It was in these kinds of moments were people ignored reality unscnsciously that the demon had been told they were the weakest, the easiest time for hellions to play their game. But instead of wanting to set out her aura of pride, she felt only concern for her sister.
"Nothing good is ever easy, and nothing easy is ever good." She quoted, giving a smile. But it did not answer the question, and some may argue that she did not even address it. There were a number of things she knew she neede - but there was the irony. The responsible one was rarely responsible with herself. She could argue she was not taking care of everyone, not by herself anyway. But she figured it easier to skip past it.
She gave a smile. "Though I would love to play something with you. Anything in particular?"

"You avoided my question," was the first thing Shay said to Cori's saying. "I know that, but you have to remember that if you're drowning yourself, you can't save anyone else."
And what a hypocrite Shay was for saying that, or all people. As she trod water endlessly, but still tried holding everyone on her shoulders, drowning time and time again only to be resurfaced and revived.
But on the subject of games, now that was somehow more challenging a question. Shay rubbed her jaw as she thought on it before getting up and walking to a shelf that lined one wall and looked over the vast selection they had there.
Most of the choices she had on the top of her head Shay knew she didn't have the patience or thoughtprocess for right then. She picked up one of the first Guess Who which was one game she recalled playing plenty in the orphanage.
"How about this?"

Perhaps, in that way, the two had been the same.
Both had always been the one to let herself drown, if it meant pushing her family to the surface. The responsibilities flooding into her lungs and the weight of her world on her shoulders. But Cordelia would only smiled at her sister, as if she knew something the other did not. Whether she had her siblings, her world, or nothing on her shoulders, the daughter of pride refused accept the burden of the truth of her own demise.
"I know. I have everything under control, Shay. Don't worry about me. I'm just focused on helping you all get through this virus." Cordelia stated with a surprising amount of calmness despite her own exhaustion. She knew she could be called any moment to help get food to someone or get someone to calm down from their overabundance of energy. But taking a few quiet moments to sit with her family and play a game was likely what she needed.
Nodding, she made sure there was room for them to play before taking a seat. "Sure. Set it up, though I might have to read over the game rules again. It's been a while.."

"Uh, you choose the person on this board, and you don't tell the other person. Then each person takes turns saying 'Does your person have a red hat?' and you answer and then the person who asked puts down the head of everyone who doesn't or does have a red hat. Understand?"
Shay set the game up, putting each piece upright and focusing on the faces on the board. None of them looked like any people she really knew. They were all comical cartoons. Safe. Safe. Safe.
Eroshay had no real interest in talking about deep things. She wanted to relax. She wanted to forget.

"Right." The young woman chuckled and nodded. It was such a simple game, but the amount of time left her nearly clueless. Adjusting her seat, she brought her sock-clad feet up under her so she was a bit more comfortable. She took a moment to look at the entire board before deciding upon a face - A cartoony looking face of a man with white hair and brown eyes. She put the image of him down at the bottom of her side of the board.
Giving a smile to her sister, she waited for her to look prepared for their game. When she looked like she had made her decision, the golden haired woman asked, "Would you like to start us off, or shall I?" This seemed like a good break from the day... Something simple, lost in the background.
