Vadim reclined in his chair as he rippled the two halves of deck of cards together, the familiar sound of cards slapping against cards bringing a smile to his furred face as the deck settled into a single pile. On the folding table in front of him lay his old poker set, something the raccoon had picked up from a pawnshop within a week of arriving on the island some years ago. It was almost four o'clock in the afternoon on a Saturday, prime time to lure some unsuspecting sods into a game they would probably lose a lot of money on. While part of him felt bad for doing it, finding legal ways of earning money was getting harder with every rewrite of his résumé and so, rigged card games under the shade of a large oak tree it was.
As students and staff started gadding about the courtyard a few minutes later, Vadim managed to get a few to come over and play a couple hands; needless to say, the furred trickster was about fifty dollars richer within thirty minutes. "Better luck next time" was his only response to their griping as a couple of them got up and left, leaving their chairs open for another round as a cute grin, if a bit sly, crept up his muzzle. He was just getting started.
