"Turn left." Said the bland female voice of her map app. Delaney turned left, and Georgette resisted the turn. Nothing dramatic, just a lean against the pressure that signaled her to stop. The blind teen stopped and had a sneaking suspicions that. . . She reached forward and felt a solid brick wall. "Son of a Ding-Dong!" She cursed, her thick southern accent peeking in. "Stupid, useless, lady!" She shouted at her phone because there was no one else to yell at. Georgette was a good girl, and leaned against Delaney's leg to provide comfort. Dela carded her fingers through the long hair atop the dog's head. And did feel a little better.

"Ugh, this is dumb. Okay, so we go left, then right. Down a long alley. . . . then left?" Girl and dog were were deep in the city, away from main roads and community areas. Where the oldest businesses resided with barely marked storefronts. Or she imagined they'd be as much. Just how hard could finding a magic shop on a magic island be? She foolishly thought.

Delaney attempted the way back, guided by Georgette and memory but a turn brought her down a strange smelling alley. She hadn't smelled. . . burning meat? On her way over. "Crap. Crap. Frick. Crap!" She was lost.

Annoyed shouting had somewhat of an effect on Ida. It was like she felt drawn to it by some unknown force beyond her control. except the force was totally within her control and it was really just her wanting to laugh at something pitiful or get the number on her key to drop.

The imp stuck her head around the corner of a building to spy a teenager and a weird looking dog. Just as she did, the girl shouted in frustration. What exactly had her so frustrated was still a mystery though. Hopefully not for long, Ida walked on over and began to talk to the girl.

“Hey, weird dog lady, what’s the problem?”

Weird dog lady? Who, her? Delaney looked towards the unfamiliar voice. They asked what her problem was, and Delaney had no qualms sharing. "I'm lost and my dog is not weird. She's a poodle and she' perfect." Dela said, puffing her cheeks in annoyance. Georgette was a good girl, and not weird looking at all! Georgette didn't care about this, the dog focused on comforting Delaney.

But, Dela realized, if someone was asking what the problem was then they wanted to help. "Could you? Help me, I mean." She held up her phone, the stupid map app still open. "This thing is useless and I'm not familiar with these streets. I'm looking for some shop called The Overflow." It was somewhere back here. She's not giving up on finding it!

A poodle. That was such a stupid name for an animal, Ida had to hold in a snicker at that, but she didn’t really even do a good job. This was good news though, at least for her, a lost child who was just looking for some random store would be a relatively easy mission.

“Yeah yeah yeah, I’ll help ya. The Overflow... haven’t heard of that but I’m pretty good at finding stuff. Much better than that device would be.” She snorted. “You know those things are for talkin’ to people right? They aren’t maps.” Ida was pretty amused by the idea of a person holding a phone and trying to find something with it. As far as she was concerned that was a crazy idea.

"I mean, lots of phones have maps on them these days." Delaney said with a small shrug "Maybe you just haven't seen the right ones." She had a nicer one as it had a text-to-speech app and the maps app was handy for the major streets and popular businesses. Juuuuust, not so much for twisty back-alleys and obscure shops. She pocked her phone and smiled towards Ida.

"I'm Delaney, and this Georgette. Nice to meet you." From what she could tell Ida was shorter than her, her voice coming from somewhere just below shoulder height. "Well, I'll follow you then? Just make sure you call out when you turn and which way so I can follow." Maybe between the two of them they can find this place.

The imp looked from Delaney to Georgette as they were introduced. "Uh, yeah alright." She didn't bother giving her name back, it wasn't really something she bothered with when she wasn't going to be planning on seeing the person again later.

"Sure, I guess. It shouldn't take very long." Letting her know when they were turning was odd to say the least, kinda tipping Ida off as to why finding this place was so difficult. She let out a sigh and asked rather bluntly. "Are you blind?" She looked up at the girl, waiting for an answer before beginning to search for the store.

No name back? Okay, weird, but Delaney can work with it. She'll come up with a nickname for her little store-finding angel. Heh, that would work! The blind question was expected, so Delaney didn't bat an eye at the bluntness of it. "Yup. Can't see a thing. Unless you count darkness as a thing." She added with a light chuckle. "Georgette here is a trained seeing dog. She helps me get around." Delaney gently shook the lead that was attached to Georgette's bright red vest.

"So, which way first?"

"Well that explained that." Ida walked forward a short ways before coming to a stop by a corner. They could go straight, left or right... But she didn't really have a clue which way was going to be the right way.

"Uhhhh." She didn't see any sign of The Overflow in any direction and after getting a solid look at each road she made up her mind.

"That way." She pointed her finger to the right and continued on to walk in that direction. It was a complete guess, there was nothing at all that could've even classified it as an educated one.

Delaney followed the sound of her little angel's footsteps. Georgette stopped her before she could bump into Ida when she stopped at the intersection. When Ida said, 'that way' and started off towards the right Delaney had to roll her eyes. "I can't see if you're pointing or whatever!" She called after, but was able to follow.

"So, what's a little guardian angel doing wondering the backstreets?" Delaney said with a grin, happy for an excuse to use her nickname for Ida.

Ida admittedly didn’t know her lefts and rights very well and didn’t want to look like an idiot. “Just tell your dog thing to follow me, it’s smart enough to do that, right?”

A realization set in as Delaney called her a guardian angel. She couldn’t see her and therefore couldn’t tell she was an imp. Delaney also couldn’t have any preconceived notions about her since even if someone told her to watch out for a scrawny red imp, she wouldn’t be able to. This was nice.

“Oh, ya know, just makin’ my rounds. And also I was kinda out to buy one of them circle pastries with the hole in the center? Got a lot of money recently, so figured I’d reward myself.”

She continued. “But of course, angel duties come first, so I saw your sorry face and figured I’d step in and help.”
