<div align=center>Ania was probably right, they could go soon if she wanted to, but Hadrian was enjoying it here. It was a warm day and he liked wasting time with Ania. She was nice to be around even if they weren't really doing anything. However, would a phoenix set his house on fire? He really hoped not. He didn't know if he could cope with having his house burned down. "It won't... Y'know.. Burn my house down or anything, will it? Hypothetically speaking..." He let out a trail of nervous laughter. Maybe he'd have to invest in a few fire extinguishers and a longer hosepipe.

Hadrian reciprocated the kiss, reinforcing it and placing a hand on the back of the girl's head. He whimpered softly as she pulled away again, "never had a pet before?" He asked, tilting his head to the side, he was glad she got her first pet with him. He laughed at her suggestion. "Aw, don't you think the momma would be sad if we took her baby?" He asked, nuzzling the girl softly and pressing a kiss underneath her jaw. As if the mother duck had heard her, the bird shot a wary look back at the two and shuffled steadily closer to the bank of the river, her babies hurriedly flocking around her.</div>

Hm. Would a phoenix accidentally burn a house down? That was definitely something to think about. "Ah... Um. Maybe if you ... Put a fire resistant ... Sweater on it...?" Dousing a fire-bird in the extinguisher foam probably wouldn't be very heathy, and might just make the poor animal miserable. Perhaps it would be a little safer if they stuck with a less hazardous bird. At least until she could get the hang of pet ownership.

"Sad...? Naw, I doubt she'll miss it." The mother duck seemed to disagree strongly, however, as she waddled to the river, her children following obediently in her wake. "See, ah, they're just having a goodbye party." The duck plopped herself into the water, herding her ducklings away from potential danger. "Ducks would make awful pets, anyway." Turning away from her potential targets, Ania began fussing with Hadrian's hair, running her fingers through it as her fingers patted and spiked his hair into funny new shapes. "You look like a bit of a duck, yourself. Perhaps I can just keep you as a pet."

<div align=center>The image of a bird in a sweater wasn't something Hadrian had ever thought about, perhaps it was best they got a pet that wasn't liable to get his house on fire, at least until they knew how to prevent that from happening. There were countless other birds you could keep as pets, perhaps he could even get Ania an owl, he wasn't sure if she liked them or not. He didn't see why she wouldn't though, even he thought baby owls were cute. They were so ugly and strange looking that he couldn't help but laugh at the poor creatures. There was also the option of... Was that a bad idea? He didn't know. "What about a dodo?" It'd be fun to have an extinct pet, especially one as funny looking as a dodo.

Weren't they really aggressive though? Surely not if they raised it from a baby. Maybe that was an idea, he wouldn't have to pay for it either. He could smuggle a baby one away. He let out a little unappreciative noise as she began fussing at his hair, though merely pouted instead of pulling away. He didn't really mind, on the contrary he liked the attention. "Whaa?" He frowned, "why am I a duck? Does that mean I'm terrible?" The boy feigned hurt, and hunched his shoulders, "m'sorry. I do my best."</div>

Ania caught her breath in a rush when the suggestion of a dodo was mentioned. They weren't particularly clever birds, but she was sure they were precious little things. Usually the dumb animals were the sweeter ones. It was definitely an idea that she relished; having an extinct little bird waddling around with her. If she managed to learn to knit, she could even teach the thing to sit in little outfits, and maybe dodo birds were the cuddly sort. That would be fun, a little cuddle with a seemingly extinct creature.

Smiling contently, Ania continued playing. "A duck is much better than one of those penguins, though. Ah, but maybe not a duck, after all. I'm happy just having a Hadrian." Pressing an affectionate kiss onto his forehead, Ania pulled back to resume toying with his hair.
"A dodo bird would be fun, though. But would it be too taxing on you? I don't want you getting hurt over a dumb chicken bird." She had already gotten worried enough about him after that trip to Rome. Being close to someone who time traveled was far too convenient. She would have expected a guinea pig or something more common than a dodo as a first pet.

<div align=center>Hadrian laughed softly at the memory of the penguins, he seldom showed fear when it came to anything, but at the moment that little black and white bird had waddled steadily toward him all he'd wanted to was turn tail and run as fast as he could, and that was exactly what had happened. At least he'd never see any of those people at the zoo again, and it didn't really matter how much he embarrassed himself in front of Ania, he felt comfortable enough around her not to worry all that much. Besides, all she'd do was giggle at him.

"It'd be okay. They were alive not all that long ago." He leaned forward a short way and pressed his forehead to hers. The trip back to snag a dodo wouldn't be half as taxing as going back to Ancient Rome. Dodos were alive around the 1600s, that'd only mean Hadrian would sleep for a few hours or so, or at least wake up later in the morning that he usually did. "You wanna head off?" He asked, shifting and nuzzling the girl softly, pressing a trail of little kisses up her neck. "We could go back to my place, if you wanted to."</div>

Relaxing visibly, Ania tried not to worry so much anymore. It would be a lot of fun to have a dodo bird, and if they only died relatively recently, it shouldn't be too hard to look up their diet and other needs. Shivering pleasurably into the kisses, Ania had leaned further into Hadrian without noticing.

Clutching at his upper arms, she nodded enthusiastically. "Okay, let's go." She didn't require too much convincing, especially now that she had a new power suppressing toy to play with. Besides that, she enjoyed the time she spent at her boyfriend's home. It was much more comfortable over there, to say the least.
