Shin walked along, his shinai over one shoulder, humming a random tune. He'd yet to find a sparring partner, so he trained on his own, not that he particularly needed to.

Then out of the corner of his eyes he saw something, something that displeased him. It was a group of kids, clearly bullying a girl. Sighing he turned and approached the group. The group of bullies didn't seem like they were going to let up, and the girl with sheep horns didn't look like she was going to defend herself.

It was time for him to step in, "excuse me," he said in a calm smile, "I'm going to have to ask you to leave her alone." He didn't want this to break out in a fight, but he'd do what he needed to do.

Ai had been on her way to her dorm room when she had been surrounded by the three man pack of bullies. They were her regular group though and in a way she had to act the meek lamb for them right now. Sure she had faced much worse in the streets fighting by Aedan's side some nights.

But Ai still refused to hurt those that tormented her. If they were bothering her then they couldn't mess with some other poor kid. Off to the side though Ai saw another guy coming towards her. Was he going to join in or... no his gaze only briefly looked at her, he was going for her bullies.

As she watched the new comer though she couldn't help but flush. He was kinda cute... But he got the attention of the bullies now. They all turned to him, they saw his 'weapon and they moved to pull out their own. Ai's eyes went wide, where had they gotten those.

She couldn't stand by now, she had to act. In a series of well practiced set of motioned Ai hit them in areas of the body ment to stun. Open palmed strikes to many of these areas and in just a brief segment of time her bullies were no more.

So turned to her would have been savior. "U-um.... s-sorry if.... If I kinda.... ruined your whole... um... b-be the h-hero um... thing." Ai's hands were running over themselves in embarasment as she was also beet red in her cheeks as she was trying to look anywhere but at him.

It all happened so fast, one moment he was prepared to defend himself, the next there was no need. The cute sheep girl had quickly taken the attackers down, as if she had never been a victim.

He looked to her, and smiled kindly, "nah, I'm no hero, just couldn't stand by while someone is bothering a cute girl." He leaned on his shinai a bit and watched the bullies run off, tails between their legs, literally in one case.

Turning back to Ai, his smile stayed kind, but became a bit playful and curious, "seems there's more to you than meets the eye." He chuckled, "anyways I'm Shin Arakawa," he bowed in greeting, "just arrived on the island."

The bullies ran away after they recovered from her assault. Ai watched them for a moment to make sure they weren't coming back before she was startled back to the man in front of her. He....he called her cute.... Ai began to blush, and it just got worse. Soon her face was beet red. "I-I-I...I'm not cute.." She burried her face into the collar of her turtle neck.

"I-I'm A-Ai Shenxiao... N-n-nice t-t-to me-meet y-you." Still burying most of her face in her collar still she bowed not quite gracefully. "H-how have y-you been a-a-acclimating to the island?" Ai was still bowed as she said this trying to hide her face from this man. this was a very embarrassing situation.

"On that we disagree" a reply to her claim to not being cute. "It's a pleasure to meet you Ai," he said, his smile never leaving his face. This whole thing was an interesting turn of events, saving a cute girl, only for her to prove she could defend herself. Some would have been confused, Shin was intrigued.

"The island has been interesting," he said with a small chuckle, "so much to see and do." He set the tip of the shinai on the ground, letting the training sword lean against him, "just got all my things moved into my apartment and already have an urge to see it all." Shin might have had the soul and memories of an ancient warrior, but he still had the energy and curiosity of a college student.

"All the magic," he said grinning a bit, "it takes some getting used to." He had only arrived a few days ago, "in fact, besides a few teachers, you are the first person here I've talked to."

He was still calling her cute, it was just making it worse as she blushed a deeper shade of scarlet. Though Ai hoped that with her extended bowing would keep her face hidden so he wasn't seeing her blush so much. When she heard him change subjects her face was cooling down so she stood up, but her cheeks were still rather rosy. "I-I agree, the i-island was v-very d-different then f-from where I use t-to live."

When he said that he really hadn't talked to anyone else other then Ai so far it made her blush but just a bit more then what she already was doing. "I-I'm s-surprised by that a-actually. T-there are a lot of friendly p-people around... I-if you ignore the b-bullies o-of course. Do y-you w-want t-t-t-t...." Ai covered the lower half of her face again. Did she really just try to ask him out? He just got onto the island, why would he want to go out with her. He probably was lying about her being the first person to talk to her and some other girl had asked him out. "I s-should g-g-go..." She began to bound away heading to the dorms, maybe she should talk to her roommate.
