He'd opted to leave the community center with Noli, things seemed rather awkward. The past week had been particularly taxing with Lae which finally came to a head when they broke up at the cabin. He wasn't in a decent enough head space to even considering dealing with the angry Prax woman. It was depressing, really. With that being said he was just fine with dealing with her twin sister.

He needed someone to tutor him in Oleti now. The more docile sister was the better qualified one to teach him anyway. He would make it worth her while at least. There was a cafe not too far from the community center where they could get out of the cold.

"I hope this place is alright," he said as they entered. "At least it's out of the cold. And we can discuss this thing in peace."

Things always seemed awkward when Noli went to the community center. She wondered if she should just stop going entirely, although she did like picking up books for her Papa to read…but then again the library was an option, too.

She was relieved when Kenny asked if she’d like to go somewhere else. It was interesting, her…friendship? With Kenny. They were friends, right? He had dated her sister, but he was also friendly too her. Noli was so used to people ‘choosing sides’, and normally they chose Lae’s side, that having someone be friendly with both of them was…weird.

Noli looked around when they got to the cafe. It was quiet, not many people around.

“Oh yes, this is fine,” she said with a nod. She went to grab a free table, not really even thinking about getting a drink. She was more focused on what Kenny wanted.

“So, um…” Noli fidgeted with her scarf, before realizing she should probably take it off since she was indoors and all now.

“Where do you want to start? How much do you know already?”

Kenny rubbed his chin, giving the question a bit of thought. He was arguably making good progress all things considered. But of course he had no familiar root language to base it in. "I've gotten to that point where I can piece simple phrases together. Calling it broken would be generous though. Reading it is a bit easier, but that's only because I can cheat and scrutinize things."

He was beginning to feel a bit awkward now. The whole speaking with his ex's sister whom she wasn't on good terms with was rather surreal. Maybe he just had trouble letting go. Well, dragons are inclined to greed, pride, and destructive fits so that just went without saying. Noli was on the opposite end of the spectrum than her sister in just about every way. Which made him think maybe he was asking for more than he should be.

"If this is too much just let me know. I don't wanna put you in an uncomfortable position."

Noli nodded as Kenny explained his level of comprehension. She reached into her bag to pull out a notebook and pens. But she paused when Kenny asked if the situation made her uncomfortable. She wasn’t sure. She knew it might bother Lae, but she kind of thought Lae would be more annoyed with Kenny than with her. She’d just shirk and apologize and probably cry, like always—but Kenny was stubborn. Two stubborn people butting heads made things more complicated. More difficult.

No, it didn’t bother her, but she couldn’t help but feel the situation might be a bit…hopeless. He wanted to learn her language so that he could better understand Lae. But Noli spoke the exact same language as Lae, and she still didn’t understand her at all.

She put the notebook and pens on the table.

“N-no, it’s fine. If Lae finds out and gets mad, well…”

Noli leaned against the back of her chair and let out a breath.

“Everything I say and do makes her mad anyway. So it doesn’t really matter what I do.”
