"Well, there are wood nymphes, elves, tree herders, as you said, werewolves, hunters, shapeshifters... the list goes on." She replied alittle less warmly than she had been talking to Catherine.

Of course there was the little white lie that they would mostly not attack them if left alone, but hey, if they indeed attacked a vampire, any of those species would be a godd match to a vampire, maybe not an elder like she was, but not much would dare take on an elder.

"So you were lost? That must not be fun." She said to the seven years old fledgeling.

She'd have to talk to Jira about turning children, they were too young to be vampires. Child-vampires were different because they actually born like that so there wasn't adjustments needed for them.

"I am Rayana, but you can call me Ray, just you though." She replied warmly to the young child.

Kristin could easily tell by the tome of voice that Rayana didn't like her even close to as much as the little one. She hated it when people judged by appearance! She glared at her a moment, then looked down and Catherine. "Catherine, honey, we'd better get back to the school. We wouldn't want to get in any more trouble." She spoke anxiously.

"So you were lost? That must not be fun."

Catherine shook her head, a few locks of her blonde hair swinging out slightly as she did so. "Nope," she agreed. "But Kristin was helping me to get back to the school. Are you lost too?" she asked the older vampire, wondering if Kristin could help her get out of the forest as well.

"I am Rayana, but you can call me Ray, just you though."

"It's nice to meet you Rayana!!!" the seven-year-old said excitedly. As the elder said that only she was allowed to call her Ray, her face brightened quite a bit. "Does that mean I'm special?"

"Catherine, honey, we'd better get back to the school. We wouldn't want to get in any more trouble."

The little girl turned to Kristin. "Can't we stay and talk to the nice lady for a little longer?" she asked, a slight pout on her face.

"All right, but only for a couple more minutes." Kristin reluctantly agreed. She really wanted to get back, but wouldn't leave this girl behind.

((i know, i know... pathetically short...))

She smiled to the little girl, she had always had had a soft spot for children, especially young children.

"No, I am not lost, I was checking the state of a little cave not far from here." The elder vampire said. "Children are allways special Catherine."

Yes, Rayana, the cold hearted vampire elder who had seen other things in her life was acting nice... But anyway, she tuffled Catherine's hair a bit, the gesture affectionate.

"I was about to get out of the forest anyway, I can accompany you to the school if you want." She said.

It was adressed more to Kristin than to Catherine, but nonetheless...

"I'd prefer if the both of you weren't in this forest for too long."

"All right, but only for a couple more minutes."

Catherine frowned. "Aw, alright," she said, though it was obvious she wanted to stay. With the two nice ladies around she wasn't as scared anymore.

"No, I am not lost, I was checking the state of a little cave not far from here."

The little girl nodded. "I see! So how's the condition of the cave?" It was conversation, not her being nosy. She was kind of young to be meddlesome... she may have been curious, but knew when not to pry. As Rayana mussed the girl's hair, she laughed softly — she liked being shown affection, but what little kid didn't?

"I was about to get out of the forest anyway, I can accompany you to the school if you want."

"Yes! Come with us, Ray! Please? Pllleeeaaassseee?" The seven-year-old looked between Rayana and Kristin, hoping Kristin would say it was alright. She liked Rayana and wanted her to come along.

Kristin smiled. "Alright, its fine with me, as long as Rayana is sure she doesn't mind." Actually, I'm not okay with it... But obviously I have no choice. She's too cute to say no to... And Ray is too... um... I just don't want to say no.

Rayana smiled to the little girl, the laugh of the child was like music to her ears. As was said, she had a deep liking for children, especially those under the age of ten. Laughing was a good thing, joy always brought a smile and a laugh and laugh is good for someone’s health.

‘’It’s good, but there were a couple of geese that had decided to make themselves at home there.’’ She replied with a smile. ’’I decided to let them have it.’’

It’s not like she needed their cave now that the manor was open for living once again. She had left it as it was, she did not want to disturb the memories residing there. She had lived great moments of her latest life there.

‘’Alright Catherine, and no, its no trouble for me.’’ She replied to Kristin shrugging off some dirt that had gathered on her knees.
