Searching for a Past

Milton wandered the aisles of the library, looking in vain for a familiar title. He looked down at the list he held in his hand. A careful, practiced script (his own) listed names which he had through careful recollection and tedious meditation found vaguely familiar. He sighed, wondering at the lack of matching between his written list and what he can find in the building. Suspicions play in the back of his mind, but he dismisses them quickly as absurd and sits down at a table, pen in hand to try and extend his list. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.

A chuckle, and a smooth whisper, Judas Anderson.
"Looking for hidden tomes, fellow classmate? Or simply searching for meaning in such a droll place?"

Milton opens one eye and looks at Judas. "To one with no memory of his past, it is one." In what appears to be a sudden revelation, he writes a single word at the bottom of his list: 'Alhurizan'. "So, Judas, what brings you around here? Anything in particular, or is it merely some happy accident?" he asks, completely tonelessly.

"Oh just a happy accident really. You know, I'm searching for memories too, memories information, certain manuscripts and registers. You won't find much in this library, it's quite limited to what Moor approves."

Milton nods, sagely. "Well, a pearl is only an annoyance to an oyster, as they say. And yet," he pauses, almost lost for words, "I feel that even the most fastidious records keeper wouldn't help me. I feel almost as if..." I don't belong in this world, his mind finishes, as Milton falls silent, staring off into space.

Judas smiled.
"Oh there are records they keep, the origins of all students on campus, most unknown to the students themselves, even amnesiacs, it also, incidentally, lists the powers of 'special' people possibly suited for the academy, all over the world."
