Full Body Reference

Samara looks like the sort who would make an excellent Disney villain. Her fingers form into sharp claws, and her smile always seems more sinister than it should be thanks to her fangs.

Her hair is thick, straight, and would fall to her knees if she were a human. It is a dark purple that fades into a blood red toward the middle. The left side of her face is covered by her bangs, which she often pulls from her face.

Her serpent bits are purple like her hair but have a sheen of blue while her underbelly is armored and a bright purple to match her light lilac skin.

Samara has a nice body that she doesn't mind showing off, used to a culture where nudity and partial nudity isn't a big deal. She will become flustered if someone were to mention. She is still a fan of comfortable clothing from this world. Polycotton and silks particularly are her favorites.

Does have a hood that pops up when she's acting threatening or defensive.

Human Form

Her human form is very similar to her Lamia form. Her body shape is the same and her hair color remains a deep purple, although it lacks any of the red. Her hair is shorter in this form, but her eyes remain a deep amber, and her sclera is still black as a raven's feathers.

In this form Samara appears more Eqyption, even her bangs are different. Her skin is dark, she losses her claws and tail.

Samara feels much more comfortable when she has had time to think about the things she will do or say. She prefers having a plan to the point of obsession and abhors spontaneity. As you can imagine, she loathes surprises.

She likes things precisely in the places she puts them and becomes easily frustrated when anything of hers is moved or touched.

Samara fears most physical contact. She can't help but think of all the germs involved. Ironically, this does not apply to blood or dead bodies, which Samara is fine with due to long hours learning rituals with her mother.

Contrary to her appearance, Samara is a kind, generally soft-spoken Lamia. She has a sort of feminine strength involving creativity, kindness, and forgiveness.
Abilities
Actives Hexes: All of Samara's hexes now require her to incite to the person or people she plans on hexing in either verbal or written form what her curse to them is and a method for clearing the curse. She is free to use poetry and symbolic meanings to get the cure for her curses across, so long as she does not lie or the curse won't take.

Each of her curses requires a ritual in advance that she can do in private, but within the next twenty-four hours she must contact the person to give them the terms. When her hex is broken Samara will come down with a mild effect of what she gave someone else. Her ailments clear up anywhere from seven to fifteen days.

She can curse one person, a group of people that share something such as a surname, a cult, or something else of significant importance, or a small location.

Cursing a location is different than cursing a person. It requires much more work and energy from Samara. She must frequent this place and do multiple rituals, along with leaving some manner of shrine or symbol representing the curse laid there. A cursed location can only be one room large, or in a small clearing.

Misfortune: Being one of Samara's more powerful curses, this requires extra care and preparation. Her misfortune hex can only be cast on someone who has personally wronged her or her close family and friends. The curse will always relate to whatever offense the person has committed.

This offense has to have been damaging. It couldn't just an insult; it has to be slander. It couldn't just be a slap; it has to be assault. The kind of thing that could or would ruin/change someone's life for the worst.

Samara does not require anything physical or symbolic of their person.

Physical: This type of hex requires that Samara get something from the person related to what she wishes to do. Example: menstrual blood for infertility, spit for taste, eyelash for sight.

As for locations, Samara can twist a place to look gnarled and sickly, or cause the plants and grass to wither or die. She places a kind of dilapidated sign with symbols in the center of the area she wishes to curse with a physical curse. If the sign is torn down, she must begin anew.

Effects Samara can cause: Infertility, losing a sense, headaches, gaining an illness (never deadly), chronic pains, the feeling of walking on glass or nails, hair loss, rashes, etc.

Mental: With a person, Samara requires something of their's that is symbolic to the curse she wishes to cast on them. The stuffing or thread from a favorite shirt or toy to have them feel a sense of dysphoria, or a strand of hair for paranoia, or pictures/letters for the feeling of abandonment.

For a place, Samara creates an effigy relating to the effect she wants the location to have. This follows the same rules as her physical hexes on an area.

Effects Samara can cause: Dysphoria, depression, drowsiness, paranoia, loneliness/abandonment, infatuation, dissatisfaction with life, hopelessness/powerlessness, intensified negative emotions such as jealousy or anger, etc.

Human Shape: During her time on her home planet, Samara managed to get herself a human form while using magic. It was imperfect and hard to maintain.

She gets terrible cramps in her legs as if she were being burned and she loses advantages of her snake tail while keeping the disadvantages that the cold brings to her body.

Venomous: Samara is based on the King Cobra. While her venom may not be as potent as other sisters, she can inject something like thirteen milliliters (two point six teaspoons) of venom into a single bite lasting around one second. She can kill a person with a single bite in around fifteen minutes if they're left untreated. Her venom could kill a twelve thousand pound elephant in an hour and a half.

Her venom severs the connection between nerve cells resulting in dizziness, blurred vision, and eventually paralysis. Samara can control whether she releases her venom.

Passives Heat Charm: Has a sunlight charm that can be heated up. Has enough power for use two hours at a time with the same recharge rate. Makes Samara feel like she's near a fireplace to help with her cold-blooded nature.

Lamia Physiology: Being a Lamia has Given Samara an advantage in speed, flexibility, and swimming. She is an exceptional swimmer, using her tail to propel herself through the water.

Also a skilled climber, with use of her strong tail to act as a grip for vertically ascending trees and other surfaces. Samara has sharp claw-like nails and a completely prehensile tail.

As a Lamia, the advanced muscle structures at work that grant her the ability to move swiftly and accurately give her a great deal of strength in her core and tail.

With her tail, she can crush wood, and bend metals by merely wrapping around them and squeezing. To a human, this could be a death sentence. It should be noted that snakes half her size in the real world are capable of exerting 90 psi of continuous force, or the equivalent of a 9000 lb school bus parked on a man’s chest. Given that Sam's tail is much thicker than regular snakes, with a more substantial muscle build it stands to reason that she could exert even more force.

Samara is easily eighty percent reptile and as such she has an increased healing rate. She can recover from injuries at twice the speed of an average human. Broken bones can mend in half the time, lacerations can close up within a few short days, and even limbs can regrow over time. This durability and healing have led to Lamia developing a robust immune system, rendering them immune to almost all forms of disease and toxins. The average lifespan of a Lamia is around five hundred years, though it is not uncommon to see them living considerably longer than that.

Weaknesses Cold-blooded: Samara is cold-blooded and heavily dependent on her environment to maintain her levels of activity and health. In the cooler hours of the morning, she can be sluggish and unresponsive. On colder days she will rarely venture outdoors. She needs to be careful around pools; If she tries to swim in a body of water that is too cold she can run the risk of becoming too slow to stay afloat and drown.

Full Moons: During the full moon, Samara is more irritable and prone to acting on her instincts.

Size: People often trip or step on her tail, causing potential injury to herself and others. Not to mention she weighs in at almost half a ton, meaning that many things intended for ordinary people are by no means capable of supporting her weight.
History
○ One of the oldest Arore sisters, born to a mother who practiced the dark arts. This set her up for criticism immediately upon her birth, which happened to take place on the coldest, darkest night their world had seen in nearly a century. An ominous sign.

○ Samara was an unseen and terrible force in her land. Her magic was more understated than her sisters, but none of them ever seemed to doubt her ability. In fact, it was a matter of many rumors even among her family of the dark rituals she must have performed.

○ After most of her sisters left their world Samara had concocted an imperfect human form that kept her mostly out of sight of Naga for the sole purpose of checking on towns that went quiet. It was on one of these expeditions that she encountered the first dead Arore sister, mutilated with runes of Morgul carved into her skin.

○ During the latest full moon, Samara worked up her magic in the hopes of helping her sisters. However, something must have gone wrong and was interrupted by the blood sacrifice to Ishtar that the Arore sisters in Manta Carlos performed during the bonfire.
Resources
Lives with Gwyn Drakenhardt in a nice home and helps to pay some of the rent where she can. Most of her extra spending money goes to her sister, Tarana.

○ Samara has Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Notable Features:
  • Heavily based on a King Cobra. Even has a hood.

  • Comes off more Egyptian in her human form.

Physical Quirks:
  • Does in fact growl when frustrated, agitated, nervous, threatened, or afraid. It sounds even deeper than a King Cobra's. Strangely more snake-like than most of her sisters.
  • Has a tendency to hiss as she speaks.

Power Summary:
  • Can cast hexes and misfortune magic on people.

Reputation: None as of yet. At least not here, but back home there was an assortment of nasty rumors about her being evil or a witch.

Misc Information: Unlike her sisters who must use charms to become human, Sam has found an incomplete way to turn herself human via magic.
