Cocking his head a little to the side, Malakias turned the name over in his head as he peered at the were weasel thoughtfully. His name, Cikňi, sounded Romanian, or Bulgarian. It was not Russian, or not from where he hailed from.

"Why wouldn't I talk to you?," Malakias asked the young cub, truly surprised by such a question. "You are alone in the forest like this, obviously scared or very wary of something. Anyone with a bit of compassion would want to know if you were alright or needed assistance?" he told Cikňi very calmly.

"I was not being scared..." Well that was never exactly true, but he'd been no more afraid than usual until he'd smelt the werewolf. "I like outside. Away from hospital. Away from persons."

Cikňi squeaked a bit, unsure whether he wanted to laugh or cry at this situation, and pretty much unable to do either while shifted. "I come alone... You are still smelling like bad wolf. And have same voice." Finally, Cikňi worked up the courage to move closer, keeping his arm spikes up. "I see wolf one time. See man many..." He whimpered at the thought. "You have big family? He is maybe family?"

He still stank of fear, always would, but there was some anger starting to creep into the little weasel eyes. "More than me was he ... taking. They say two years... or more years."

Malakias sighed as much as a wolf could actually sigh at Cikňi's insistence. "I am not the bad wolf, I promise you," he told the young were-weasel, slightly amused when Cikňi came a bit closer but with his spikes at the ready just in case.

"I have, well, the Volkov's actually, have a rather large wolf pack," he admitted, "and maybe, just maybe, it was one of the members who were expelled a few years ago," he mused thinking back to some stories he had heard about a half-uncle or a distant cousin being banished, but only knowing a few of the broader details... something about unnecessary cruelty and disobedience rung a bell.

"I honestly do not know, Cikňi, but I'd like to get to the bottom of this somehow," he said as Malakias half-stood, bent forward and stretched his front paws in front of him.

"That is if you'd like me to?" Mal asked him, having already decided that he would delve deeper into it no matter what, but he wanted Cikňi to feel he had some say in it.

Cikňi nodded slightly. Now that he'd calmed a bit he realized the bad wolf wouldn't be talking like this, and there was some difference in smell. He wasn't used to being able to tell people apart by scent, though, and he wrinkled his nose wishing he could get rid of it for a bit.

And this wolf pack sounded like more than just a couple people. "Is like home. Roma people have big family. Big group and sometimes... punish ones who act bad." Cikňi made a soft sound, suddenly missing his people. "I can not be home."

When Malakias moved again, Cikňi watched warily, but he didn't move back. He almost couldn't believe the wolf wanted to help him. Except it also made sense. If one of the Roma did something so wrong, they would be punished more harshly than an outsider. "I am not knowing how you can help. It is being a thing finished. You can be trying. The scouts say they did rescue... I do not have... a lot memory."

In his wolf form, Malakias often picked up on a lot more things than in his human form. It was funny how that worked since in both forms his senses were equally as enhanced. However, his animal form was just more attuned to things in general, and therefore he immediately detected the hint of longing in the were-weasel's voice, and in his body language.

"Maybe in time, I can help you go back to your home?" Malakias offered Cikňi. It was not impossible to co-exist with humans, the Volkovs did. However, great impulse control was needed as well as the ability to think on one's feet - all of which he doubted Cikňi had at the moment.

"We can teach you how to live among humans - or at least be able to spent time among them once in a while if that is something you'd like to undertake," Mal explained patiently, wondering if that might be something that might interest him.

Cikňi squeaked, frowning slightly at the wolf's offer. He knew he was a werewolf, but he still wasn't quite used to thinking of himself as not human either. And besides that was what the hospital, school, therapy was for. He'd been, mostly, normal and now he was a frightened animal with barely any control - Cikňi hated it.

The idea of getting help from a werewolf clan on top of that.. He made some soft sounds, managing to mutter out some indecisive words in Romani that were mostly for his own benefit anyway.

Watching Malakias closely, Cikňi tilted his head examining the wolf. "Am not a lot having trust of wolfs.." Even his mental voice was unsure. Plus the fact that he was obviously still scared of them - he wasn't going to say that out loud though. "School is help."

Malakias let a little but loud huff, which was probably the equivalent of a human sigh. Beyond the urge to grab the little guy by the scruff, and drag him to the Volkovs so he could see for himself, Mal couldn't really offer or say much more. The were-weasel still seemed mildly agitated and quite scared, Mal could smell his fear, and he just wasn't sure what else to say or offer.

"I can only say to you that if you ever need or want it, the Volkov clan offers you our full protection," Mal said as he stood up, stretched and shook his coat, "I will not force you to come with us, but, if you need my help little one, just ask for Malakias at the House of Volkov," he said as he started changing back into his human form.

Cikňi hesitated, reaching out an arm before he thought better of it and lowered it again. "Am thanking you for your help. Is good to know." If his fear annoyed the other werewolf, we'll there was nothing he could really do about that. He was sure he hated it more, after all it had hospitalized him and he was only just recovering, slowly.

"I am being in hospital for.. a long time. Other wolves I not know but the little ones with me..." He backed up a little, watching Malakias shift back to human. The man made it look so easy. Cikňi, even though he had probably calmed down enough to shift as well and didn't particularly like being a little weasel, was holding it off for a little longer until he'd have to. It hurt, and he still didn't want to be vulnerable.

He was going to let Mal go without asking anything more. Then he thought of something. "Is much .. different being wolf or human? Your clan they live like humans or different?"

Mal raised an eyebrow just a fraction and turned to look at Cikňi when he spoke out. He was quietly but also pleasantly, surprised that the young man had found the courage to do so. He even smelled less fearful, props to him. Mal thought with a small smile.

"We live, in public, mainly like humans here on the island," he replied, "although we do have compounds and forested areas in Russian where some of us live like wolves," he told Cikňi. "And is there a difference? Yes. There is. Being a wolf is an amazing feeling, so much freer, but it's not as comfortable. Humans have warm beds, baths, TVs to entertain them, and they can make food almost instantly." he explained.

"It's basically all about balance, and knowing what you want," Malakias told him with a tiny grin as he cocked his head to the side in a dog-like fashion as he regarded Cikňi.

Cikňi listened to Mal thoughtfully, not having much to add. He'd never found any of this freeing - chained for a couple years, moved to a strange island of monstrous beings, trapped by his own fear. But maybe it could be different. If he wasn't still so on edge, he might've laughed at the wolf's description of humans though. His people were poor travellers, without many luxuries. They'd had no television, and the cooking was hardly instant. Most of the conveniences had come from school.

Then again, this island was full of rich things. Cikňi didn't blame the wolf for any misconceptions. Aside from being a hospital room, the room he'd stayed in once he'd been conscious of it had seemed so large, the dorms practically luxurious.

He didn't laugh though, just nodded seriously. "I do know what I am wanting... Am thank you for answer." Cikňi hesitated then added. "I will talk you again. If I am more ready."
