He conservatively shook his head and said, "I took them as simple rumors, nothing to really look into. And as far as any rumors I've heard about me, this didn't seem concerning. The only property I own here is this lot, and unfortunately I don't have any surveillance systems installed." He thought for a moment, feeling a little disappointment. "I did consider it, but perhaps a little late now. Nonetheless, I suppose I can look around the grounds." He knew he wouldn't get much. After all, the maid and the butler never reported anything strange. And Helmut himself didn't know where exactly this alleged property was located. Perhaps Kon knew? "Do you happen to know where they said the deals happened? Something less vague than 'one of my properties'."

Konpeitō shook his head. "That's all people are saying. If this is your only property, then it must be referring to your house. Unless there is another lie within the rumor about how many properties you have. If that is true, that would certainly make your rumor more complicated. It goes against the in-character aspect of my theory too" So the doppelgangers could even get into homes? Kon would need to get some security systems for his own apartment.

"I recommend that you bump up security. But... I don't know how relevant it is here. Do you think it would be obvious to passersby that people are entering and leaving your house? You might need to question your neighbors... Or mayhaps the perpetrator is starting these rumors."

"Well unless you consider everything outside the island, then yes, this is my only property. Never really the one to needlessly hoard land, nor build up businesses. It's just out of my expertise." If whoever was impersonating him was indeed toiling about his home, then he was worried about the safety of both Celia and Duke. Capable as they may be, they weren't trained for combat. It would be clear that he was thinking deeply about something, a morsel of worry appearing on his face. If something were to happen to him, Helmut truly wouldn't mind the hassle, but that was a different story when it came to the people under his employ. "I'm unsure. Given who owned this property before, my neighbors would possibly, by habit, not pay too much attention to the goings on in this property, but they might, precisely for that reason, take special interest. Perhaps I should ask them myself when I get the chance."

A small part of Konpeitō felt bad for bringing this kind of news to Helmut. This was the kind of stuff that could cause paranoia. But that's how these rumors were. It was good that Helmut was considering the seriousness of this.

"I think you should talk to your neighbors, yes. Take note of others who come around this neighborhood frequently too. But I think you'll be safe. So far, the rumors are either people acting weird or people acting weird and committing a crime. Nothing about someone being the victim of a crime... unless you count the possibility of identity theft and framing. So, er, not a victim of a violent crime. Other than that, I don't have any more advice to give or information to share."

Kon wrote a few more notes into his tablet. "Is there anything more about this that you want to talk about? If not, I think I should take my leave and let you get on with your day. Also, I'd love to share my notes if you if you plan on doing your own investigations."

Paranoia was like a scar to Helmut at this point. After leaving Germany the first time, he had always been looking over his shoulders, and had massive distrust of other Germans, and it was even worse with Russians and the Polish. But over time, that paranoid feeling was lost. Partially because he wanted his life to end, and recently, the people who would have wanted him dead would have already been incapable of doing so. Still, he wouldn't have gone down easy. "Well, I would like to know who have been affected by these rumors, and what those rumors were. And I appreciate the offer."

That would be a long list. Kon nodded his head and pulled a binder from his messenger bag. In that fold was a lot of blank notebook paper. "Give me a minute, please," he said before writing down the names of everyone affected until he last checked, which would be today.

The information Kon provided included what their rumor was and how much evidence they had. The one surrounding the plant boy Carmin, for example, did actually have an insect person get attacked. Alma was another, more obvious, example. One with video evidence. The one surrounding Thabisa was all hearsay. The same thing could be said about the rumor revolving around Jazz.

When finished writing, he unclipped the paper out of his binder and handed it over to Helmut. "I'm all done now. I tried to be as accurate and clear with my information as possible, but I advise you to go over everything I have written down. You never know if I missed something or misunderstood some details."
