Thiul's first reaction to the declaration that Liun was alive had been denial. There must've been some mistake. There was no way that Liun would've just left, without a word, and let his family and friends think he's dead. But then Thiul had smelled him on her siblings and then there had been only rage. Rage, that she had kept contained for more than 24 hours now. So she could keep it under control for a few minutes as she looked for an isolated place that was large enough for what she needed to do. And for her screaming and crying, because Thiul was using all her willpower to keep those under control too.
When Thiul found a place she was sure no one would interrupt them at she turned around to Liun, sure he had followed her.
And without any warning Thiul winded around and kicked Liun to the side with all her strength, roundhousing him.
Thiul didn't feel any pain but her legs near immediately gave out. They could not handle such an impact, and Thiul had known that. She collapsed to the ground but kept glaring poisonously at Liun.
"You slimy piece of shit! I swear if I didn't have this fucking spine injury you would be half dead by now! How could you?! I trusted you! I believed in you! And then you just fucking up and took off?! I was sure you were dead!! Do you have any idea how that fucking felt like?! I tried to kill myself, for fucks sake! And for what?! For someone who didn't even have the balls to own up to wanting to see the world?!! Shul had infinitely more guts than you could EVER have!!!"
Thiul articulated each word clearer than day and yet she was screaming. Halfway through she started crying bitter tears, and her anger slowly faded towards the end. But all the while Thiul kept glaring and though she was on the ground she looked a foot taller than Liun.

Liun knew what was coming. The moment he discovered what seemed to be a small migration of his family coming to the island, he knew that Thiul would come. Out of all the people he left behind, he worried the most about her. She hadn't been in the greatest state when he left, and he would never blame her for her reaction.
That still didn't change the fact that although he knew something was coming, that he'd be hit in some way... he still wasn't prepared.

With no brace or armour usage, it got him directly in the ribs. He clenched his jaw as he fell to the ground, already clutching his side. He would not at all be surprised if he had a few cracked ribs, but those should heal without any issue. After all, he has had the exact same injuries, if not worst, with no complications.

He had to take a while to breath as he listened to Thiul. Every word made him flinch, every word filled him with regret and grief. He felt tears prick the corners of his eyes, but he held them back. He couldn't cry. He didn't deserve to. He had abandoned her, in a time she needed him. "Thiul... you're right. You're so... so right. I'm selfish, I'm horrible and I could never ask you to forgive me. I know Shul is braver, he faced banishment honourably. But I... just ran away. I'm so, so sorry Thiul." He stared down at the ground, head and shoulders slumped with shame.

Hiatus
After Thiul finished she lowered her head as well and let her tears flow, clenching the grass in her fists. She listened to Liun's words and though she was mad at him Thiul felt her heart ache because of regret. She denied it, Thiul didn't have any reason to feel guilty because of this asshole. But as Thiul looked up and saw how defeated Liun looked she gasped and hit the ground hard.
"Stop it! Stop that right now! Stop making me care about you again! You don't deserve it! You left us! You're, you're-"
Thiul gasped again as her tears kept flowing. She gritted her teeth and let out a frustrated shout, hitting the ground again.
"You had reasons, you always do. I won't ask them because they will not excuse the fact that I could've died. Because I thought that when you were gone no one else would bother with me. So what was the point? But you weren't gone. You just ran, despite knowing that I..."
Thiul lowered her head again, starting to sob.

Liun felt that, really. He didn't deserve to be cared about after what he did. But seeing Thiul break down broke his heart. He gently attempted to place his hand on her shoulder. He couldn't offer words to console her, and he couldn't bring himself to even attempt to speak words. So he tried to offer his support that one way. "Thiul... I know. I have regretted it the day I left, but I realised some things and I just couldn't go back. I should've stayed. I shouldn't have gone to the colony... I should've been there for you, but I wasn't. I should've, but I abandoned you and I am so sorry." He prevented his voice from shaking as he spoke. He didn't deserve to feel sadness at this time. "You are so, so incredible. I don't even know half of what you've been through since I left but I know you had to be strong. I'm so proud of you, and ashamed of myself."

Thiul was too busy trying to collect the pieces of her pride to slap away Liun's hand. She felt it's warmth and remembered all the time he had offered his unwavering support. When Thiul had raged over not being able to walk, when she had cried over losing another fight. Did all that really mean so little to him?
No. Thiul knew Liun was more than that and for a second felt ashamed for thinking otherwise. She heard his words, felt the deep regret and shame behind them. And she felt warmth inside her chest as well when Liun said she was proud of her.
But Thiul didn't complain or make excuses. So she wouldn't agree.
Thiul lifted her head and looked at Liun. Her cheeks were soaking wet but she wasn't crying anymore. There was determination in her eyes.
"At least you know what you have done, and what it did to us and the rest of the clan. People loved you, Liun. And they still do. Including me. But losing you left a very deep scar. I need time to forgive."
Thiul gently removed Liun's hand from her shoulder, but it wasn't to push him away. Thiul put in turn her hand on Liun's shoulder and squeezed.
"I have a son now, you met him. He is very precious to me, Liun. He is one of the reasons I live now. So, if you're going to be his family and love him as well you need to promise me you won't hurt him. I know my son, I know he will like you. So, please, don't hurt him."
Thiul squeezed a bit harder.
"This is the only time I'm asking nicely. Remember that."

Liun didn't deserve this. He didn't deserve any kind of forgiveness. But, he was thankful. He wanted to be involved with his family's life again. He had spent so long far from them, and now that he was back, he didn't want to let go. He couldn't let go... he wouldn't let go.

He nodded. "Of course... I can't ask you to forgive me. I wouldn't even be upset if you never did." That was a small lie. Of course he'd be upset. He loved all his cousins. Even the ones he wasn't legitimately related to. As she spoke about her son, he ached a little. He had been gone so long, and everyone had moved on. Both Thiul and Hwuun have children, Shul had gone ahead and done so much. Fweiu and Quie were making efforts to make changes, and even Sifa got involved. He couldn't even imagine some the changes other members in his family have committed to. He nodded, firmly. "Of course. I won't even abandon my family again. I swear to you, Thiul. I won't hurt him... and I won't hurt you. I'm here." He was genuinely levelled and determined. "I will die before I do anything that would hurt our family. I promise to you, from the bottom of my heart." He spoke completely truthfully.

Thiul listened to Liun and frowned a bit. She believed him, part of her did, but another part now had a deeply rooted distrust for him. Liun would have to unroot that part by himself, with his actions. But for now Thiul also nodded firmly and wiped her cheeks dry.
"I know myself well enough to realize I will forgive you some day. Because you were able to shove yourself into our hearts pretty damn thoroughly."
Thiul smiled a bit, just for a second, before becoming serious again.
"I know most of me believes you, Liun. I can tell you feel bad, I'm not blind. Now you just need to prove yourself to be worthy of that trust."
Thiul punched Liun to the chest and left her hand there, looking Liun straight into the eyes.
"But if you actually die then I will never forgive you. I assure you that."

Liun nodded, a determined look in his eyes. He looked right back into Thiul's, not wavering the slightest. He felt happy that one day, he could be forgiven. But he knew it would take time, and he would gladly do that time to earn her trust again. "I will." Then he got punched squarely in the chest. He got a bit winded for a moment but he didn't fall over. His determined look softened the slightest at Thiul's last comment. "Don't worry. I don't plan to." He chuckled a tiny bit.

Thiul let out a small exhale at Liun's words, one she had been holding in for a while. This was what she had always liked about Liun. You could clearly see when he was sincere. Thiul was very well aware she was mostly an open book as well. That she was emotional. Although after having Hal she had become a lot better at holding herself back.
"Good. Then I can rest at least slightly easier."
Thiul pulled her legs up and started massaging them. She felt the power coming back to them slowly.
"I would also not rather have to kick you again. It takes a big toll on my legs."
