"Gods above... Who would even wear any of this?" Bel wondered aloud as she pulled out another very bright item - this time a yellow and lime green pullover type sweater from a rack of discounted clothes. Glancing at the price tag out of curiosity, she just rolled her eyes. It was still way too expensive, even being on sale for half price, she mused. Shoving it back on the rack, Bel chose another sweater, this one was mustard green. It was a little better perhaps, but still, sort of awful, in her humble opinion.

Shaking her head in dismay, deciding that this shop was definitely not for her, Bel decided instead to look for Agnes. See if her roommate had had any better luck finding something to buy, or if they should just go onto the next shop and try their luck there.

Christmas has kinda been a bit of a vague holiday for Agnes. When she had still been in her parents' house it had been just another day, aside from there sometimes being a tree and the whole family eating the tensest meal anyone had ever seen. Which usually resulted in a fight and a beating. But one thing Agnes had always done, and that was gifts for her little siblings. This year though Agnes didn't have little siblings to give them to. Mia loathed her, and Oscar...who even knew where Oscar was.
And yet Agnes was here, shopping presents with her roommate and kinda friend Bel.

Agnes was skimming through some accessories, like belts and gloves and hats, and tried to avoid all the clothes like the plague. Agnes' dressing style was along the lines of old hoodies and flanel shirts from flea markets, these kind of shiny, hip clothing stores were very much meh for her. But these beanies were nice, Agnes could see how someone would look good in them. Like Kadir...
Agnes frowned a bit to herself, why Kadir? She put the beanie back, she wasn't there to buy anything for Kadir, or anyone for that matter, she was accompanying Bel. Which in itself felt strange, Agnes had never been present shopping with a friend. Thus far it hadn't been that bad.

Agnes saw Bel heading back towards her and when the girl got close enough Agnes cracked a smirk.
"Done being a brand slave?"
Agnes joked, since many clothes in this store were from big, famous and expensive brands. Even the beanie Agnes had been looking at was some brand she had never even heard about.

Bel rolled her eyes and made a face at Agnes's question, "Hell, yes, let's blow this joint," she stated as she looked around her at other shoppers looking through the racks and making silly comments about "being on trend", "it's just so (whatever designer)", "fashionably forward"...

"I mean, I just can't understand how wearing THAT is considered "in"." she said snarkily gesturing to a very expensive and ugly designer dress that was a horrible fuschia with mustard yellow stripes.

Bel was good company, and Agnes snickered when she suggested they "blow this joint". Agnes followed after her, very much standing out in her more...shaggy appearance. There were days when Agnes felt like trying but today had been a meh day. Bel was helping with that though, and Agnes had a small smirk on her face as the other girl commented on the clothes aroud them and Agnes answered with short sarcastic remarks.

Agnes didn't have much style sense, but even she could tell the dress Bel was gesturing to was hideous. Agnes shrugged and let out a bored huff.
"You know, there are those days when you just don't want anyone to look at you and do it again. That dress is perfect for that, makes me avert my gaze. Must be some magic."
Agnes snickered a bit, and put on her sunglasses as they stepped out. She didn't need protection from the sun, it was snowing and clouds covered the sky, but Agnes' eyes were still weak.
"When are we gonna go to a flea market?"

Bel looked at Agnes and grinned wickedly at her comment, "That's not a bad idea, for those days when you want to be invisible, wear a designer horror and people won't dare to look at you," Bel laughed as they left the shop together.

"I mean, if you don't mind a bit of snow, we could definitely head over that way now? Maybe grab some hot chocolate or coffee too?" Bel suggested as she pulled out her wool gloves, bored with the mall and definitely not finding anything she'd want to give anybody for Christmas. Maybe the flea market would be a better bet?

Because of her lack of any kind of gloves Agnes just shoved her hands in her pockets, away from the cold. Recently Agnes had stopped wearing her long gloves, since their primary use had been to cover the burns on Agnes' arms and hands. But Agnes had stopped burning herself and thus she didn't really need them anymore.
"Oh yeah, snow, my only weakness. What the sun won't do to me snow does."
Agnes said with a smidge of a sarcastic tone and smirked a bit at Bel.
"But what wouldn't I do for coffee? Let's go."

"Really? I did not know that,"Bel said as she peered at Agnes mischievously, "So, like me ambushing you with a snowball is not a great idea, then?" she asked innocently. Bel would never do such a thing to a friend, but it was fun to joke about it.

"I could definitely use some coffee and maybe a cranberry scone or a piece of gingerbread cake," Bel said as she stuck her gloved hands in her coat pockets, remembering that there was a coffee shop near the market that sold pastries with their coffees and, to boot, they didn't really need to walk outside too much to get there.

"So this whole time you've been aiming at my life? Curse your sudden but predictable betrayal."
Agnes said in a very much unenthusiastic tone and stuck her tongue out and Bel briefly before lifting her jacket's hood up just in case the clouds decided to crack.

Those treats sounded fucking delicious, but Agnes knew she wouldn't be able to get the full satisfaction of them now unless they had blood mixed in them. And she doubted they did. Nevertheless Agnes shrugged.
"Sounds good. Lead the way, I have no idea where anything is."

"Not you, your bedroom," Bel stated very seriously, "I'm gunning for your bedroom, I think, it's like three inches bigger," she told her deadpan. Almost all the dorm rooms were the same size, but it was fun to joke about who had the bigger room. A common run-on joke around campus and its residents.

"It's this way," Bel said to Agnes as she pulled her jacket closer around her. Manta Carlos was definitely cooler than where she was from. "I actually think, they have specialise in baked goods for people with special diets," she told Agnes as they walked quickly to get out of the cold.

"I am not sure what they have though, it's been a while since I've been there, like just before the ball. The place I bought my dress from is just around the corner from it," she explained as they passed a few shops with overhangs and awnings so Agnes wouldn't get wet.

When they reached the coffee shop, which was just a few yards from the market, Bel pulled her gloves off as they entered the establishment. Glad to be back inside, she looked at Agnes, "Table or booth?" she asked.

"I need the bigger room for my drums. Even the electric ones take space, you know."
Agnes explained with a slight eye roll and stuck her tongue out at Bel. Besides, it was true. Agnes played drums, and had recently bought electric ones that could be played silently and took slightly less space. Though Agnes had still kept her old acoustic drums, she was attached to them and they had a better sound.

"Oh yeah, that ball where you met Mr. Hunk or whatever."
Agnes said with a small teasing smirk. Bel didn't know, but Agnes had been go the ball too, though briefly. She and Kadir had proceeded to make out and do some other stuff in the garden soon enough, after a brief dance, so Agnes hadn't gotten the full ball experience.
"I trust your judgement though, as long as they got some kind of food with blood in it I'm good."

Agnes pulled her hood down and slipped her shades in her pocket as they entered, and as an answer to Bel's question she walked over and slipped into a booth at the back wall, in a nice shady spot.
"This'll do."
