"Ralf. Ralf's nice. I mean, he's like, sixty times as old as me because he's a dragon, but he acts like he's twenty one tops. The dragon that's always falling asleep in the community center. Did I tell you he can talk to Giltenn?"

The disappointment was plain on Janelle's face. What Jude said wasn't boring, exactly. Janelle just expected something like, him getting flirted with by a beauty goddess or a vampire threatening to suck his blood. Wait, was thinking that racist on this island?

"That's all? So not a lot of drama. That's boring. Anyways, I've met Erione. He is nice, and I really like his hair. He's like the main character of an anime. The cute peppy one of a boy idol group or something. Don't know Ralf though, or I don't remember him. How does he talk to Giltenn though?"

"I mean," Jude said, getting a better idea of she wanted. "There was this giant like... bug person... who kept inviting me to go into a back alley and get eaten or whatever."

Was that what she wanted?

Janelle squinted at Jude. Was he just saying what she wanted to hear? No, that wasn't like him. Still, that was not what she was expecting.

"Okay, Ralf being able to talk to Giltenn is really cool and all, and I'd love to hear how Giltenn feels about that, but did the police get involved with the bug person? That sounds like... uh... That sounds like harassment if they kept asking you. But you're not dead so I guess it went fine."

"They were... I don't know. They were like a kid? Like, ten. Maybe ten. And probably didn't know any better. And when I told them it was 110% not happening, they backed off... eventually."

He paused, staring into space for a moment.

"Giltenn doesn't care that much. I think they find him a bit annoying."

And the squinting continued. So Janelle had to watch out for giant bug children with a taste for human flesh. She now reached the point of this island where she was both surprised and not by this stuff,

"At least they backed off. And, well, Giltenn acts like everyone's annoying. Pretty sure they're just tsundere." She laughed at her comment as she moved some more of her stuff into her room.

She stepped back to get a look at everything. All the stylizing could be done later. "I think we got everything. You think it'd be okay if I got my walls painted?"

Jude gave a very firm uhhh in response to her question. Painting the walls? Maaaaaaybe?

"I don't know," Jude finally said with a shrug. "But I'll go ask Officer Genovese." He'd wait for acknowledgement, and then he was off, heading down the stairs to go check and find out the answer.
