It was Saturday, in the middle of the day, and the sixteen year old had arrived to Starlight Academy more than halfway through the school year. He had moved from family to family—and school to school—so many times that it didn’t even phase him anymore.
<p>

He wore his backpack slung over one shoulder and lugged a suitcase behind him as he walked from the administration to the dorms. Although he had often gone from school to school (and had skipped his classes most of the time), the teenager had never actually been to a boarding school before.
<p>

This wasn’t the same old, same old. He had been enrolled into the academy by his mentor and, he supposed, adopted ‘father’—Rosco. Rosco was the first person who had ever meant anything to him. He respected him, looked up to him, and believed him when he told him that Starlight Academy was the right direction.
<p>

Still, he was not a people person. Gareth Wise had never been a people person. In fact, he hated people and couldn’t stand the sight of them. So, in other words, this was going to be hard. This was going to be harder than ‘hard’—this was going to be ridiculously difficult. And he was not looking forward to having to share his personal space with another student.
<p>

He had never gotten along with the other boys when he was living in the foster home. Well, he had never really gotten along with anyone.
<p>

Gareth stopped as he reached room number 304 and released his suitcase in order to retrieve the key ring with a set of keys hiding inside his jacket pocket. He picked the key to the room then unlocked and opened the door to step into his new living quarters.

Sitting on his dorm room bed, Skyler was reading through his textbook. It laid neatly on his lap as he wrote down small notes on the clipboard that held a sheet of paper. His eyes gazed at both papers with focus. It was only midday, but he wanted to get a bit of studying done. To just catch up on what he may have missed, or so.

Skyler let out a sigh, pulling his head back to lay on his bed, letting the book fall to the ground once he did. He looked at the sealing above him. He didn't mind his room as much anymore. It was quiet, somewhere he could escape from all the people outside. A place where Skyler could just be alone. It worked perfectly because his roommate moved away. Which sucked sorta, but he looks at it more like a gift, then much of a problem.

Slowly Skyler eyes began to drop closed. Maybe a few minutes of sleep couldn't hurt The thought seemed nice, sorta. To be able to take a small nap, and just relax in the quietness.
Through the window the sun gazed on the floor where Skylers feet stood still, as he slumbered. The heating ray of the sun warmed his toes in a short matter of time, but it being there for a while made his feet burn of warmth, to the point where Skyler picked his feet up and placed them on the bed with him.

His nap wasn't long, because in a short matter of moments after getting back to sleep, the door creaked open. I wasn't a silent creak ether. Jerking awake, Skyler looked wild eyed at the stranger that stood in the doorway of his room. Skyler's tail patted the bed softly as his ears pointed up towards the man in surprises. He didn't say anything, but Skyler was kind of shocked by the entrance of him.
He didn't expect anyone coming in to his room. It had felt like he was forgetting something, when he looked at the guy. But what had it been. It had to be something important, but he couldn't quite remember what it was.

Laying it off, Skyler took a deep breath and sighed, letting his eyes blink softly as he did, to calm himself down. He looked at the dude once more, to see if he might jog his memory, since after all, he was the one that made him feel that way. It didn't quite work until the small sticky note that was pinned up on the wall beside the guy, read "New roommate coming soon." He felt stupid, how could he have forgotten about that? Getting up from the bed, Skyler walked over and helped the guy out with his luggage.

Gareth’s silver gaze immediately caught sight of the black haired male sitting on the bed—and, more importantly, the large cat ears swiveling toward him in alertness as well as the long black tail moving about behind him. To be honest, Gareth wasn’t quite sure what his first thought was as he stared at the apparently half-human, half-feline breed.
<p>
He supposed it was: What kind of sick bastard breeds with a cat?
<p>
The two of them seemed to have a brief staring contest where neither of them made a move—Gareth standing in the doorway and the guy sitting on the bed. But, after that first, brief, initial moment the kid stood up and came to assist him with his luggage.
<p>
Holy—this guy was tall!
<p>
[color=BA0009]“So, ah, name’s Gareth.”[/color] Gareth offered a moment later as the two of them brought his luggage into the dorm room. Gareth closed the door behind him and found himself glancing toward the bizarre set of ears on top of the guy’s head.
<p>
This was going to take some getting used to.

Picking up the luggage the guy had, Skyler moved his way over to the other side where a bed laid that use to be his old roommates. It was clean. The blankets were straightened neatly on the bed, with the pillow full as ever. It wasn't like his last roommate stayed long to really sleep on it anyways. So really the bed hadn't been touch so badly.

“So, ah, name’s Gareth.” From behind him Skyler was able to hear Gareth's voice. His ears twitched at the sudden broken silence.

Skyler reached the bed and stood the luggage up right and looked at Gareth. He nodded his head, his hand on his chest.
"Skyler..."
Skyler noticed the guy was looking somewhere besides directly at him. He kind of seemed distracted by it too. Skyler didn't know where, but he moved off this topic after a few moments of thinking about it.

Skyler only looked at the guy a few seconds more before he walked past him towards the slip of note of the wall. Taking the pin off slowly, he crumpled up the paper and throw it out, into the trashcan on the other side of the front door.

The guy introduced himself as Skyler and Gareth gave a subtle nod of recognition after they both exchanged their names. But, seriously—he couldn’t get over it. When Skyler turned around from the garbage back to the guy. He notice we wasn't just now looking at the sky's, but now more at his butt. He felt disturbed by this. What is my Roommate doing? The questioning thought creeped Skyler out. He didn't know what Gareth had in mind, but what ever it had been. It was sure making Skyler feel really uncomfortable.

He backed up a few steps with an awkward face. His foot hit the garbage knocking it over as he did. The trash spilled across the floor. The crumpled up paper Skyler throw out not to long ago, rolled its way over to Gareth.

Skyler didn't do anything about it. It wasn't much of a secret anyways. Nothing in his room was much of a secret, really. It didn't mean he had nothing to find though.

“So, uh… how did that happen?” Gareth gestured to Skyler's cat-likeness. Where his sleek black ears stood tall on his head, and his thin, soft, tail waved around his behind.

Finally understanding what Gareth was looking at the whole time, Skyler felt a little upset about it. It had to have been coming after all. Skyler was odd with his catness. You didn't see many cat-people walk around these parts, but he didn't really expect someone to really be surprised about it if they were in this kind of school, where there were many strange people with all kinds of powers that make them different from one another.

"Mother was a Neko... Father was Human..." Skyler was kind of straight forward with his answer. He took more from his mother side then he had from him fathers.

Skyler bends down to the ground so he could reach the trash on the floor. He picks up the garbage and places it back into its spot. He glances at the crumpled up note, but doesn't say anything of it as he cleans up the mess on the ground.

"If you need anything. Just ask..." Skyler stood up from the ground and looks at Gareth with a straight face.
