The door was wide open when Vince stood outside what was to become his room. Vince peeked inside and saw that the room was in a pretty good condition. The wall coloured a light purple was peaceful. The floor, white with a hint of orange, reminded Vince of his old home, which made him smile, although deep inside him he was slightly upset. He already misses home, but knew he musn't be distracted by memories. He walked in slowly, his black long hair fading slowly back to brown. He placed his bag on one of the beds and opened it. His sword somehow didn't make a hole on the bag, so he picked it up carefully and slowly, and placed it on the edge of the wall. It was sharp, so he took extreme care in case he cuts anyone. "Hopefully I won't need you" he said to the sword, as if it was a living, breathing creature. He looked outside the window. It was already coming up to sunset, so he started unpacking the rest of his things.

Kotah walked sauntered down the hall, his eyes on his feet. The quiet around him made it seem as if he was making all the noise in the world; his hair slapped against his leathery outfit which creaked in conjunction. His zippers occational let out a soft "cling." He glanced at each passing door, looking at the number above it till he came to room 206. He walked inside and stopped halfway in the door. He took a quick look around. He mostly ignored the other man already in the room, who looked very similar to himself. Kotah winced at the light purple and let out a verbal "tck..." when he saw the floor. This room needs some work... he thought. Then again, I doubt I'll be in here very often. The lounge looks really comfortable. He tossed his bag down by the bed across the room.

Vince was about to take his books out of the bag when he heard noises outside the room. He listened closely as it came closer. He wasn't afraid - it was nothing dangerous - he was just curious. He ignored the noise when someone entered the room, wearing a jacket very similar to his own. He was slightly suprised, but knew there were other people who wore that sort of thing. He calmly ignored him and continued unpacking his things. It was nothing personal, he just didn't have anything to say at the moment.

Kotah upzipped his bag and kneeled beside it. He took out a sketchpad and his pencil that had a kneeded eraser wrapped around it. After a minute of digging around, he took out four colored pencils and stood up, kicking his bag under the bed. He turned around to walk out of the room, his hair flew behind him to catch up from the sudden shift in direction. It slapped against his jacket as the legs of his pants swished together. It was odd, however, because his feet refused to echo with the rest of him. He exited the door with a small wave over his shoulder.

Vince briefly looked at his roommate to see that he was leaving. Why? He just got here. He also noticed that he was carrying a sketchpad. Ah, he must be an artist. I hope he finds the art room... because I still don't know where it is. He turned back to the attention of unpacking his books, then he selected 'Making Transformations More Human Vol. IV' By J. Silverwoods. He flicked to chapter 3 which started with:

Most people know that humans are related to apes. But most of them are unaware of how big the connection is. We are 99% similar to apes, the only differences being obvious. So some might think that transforming into an ape whilst keeping a human personality is easy. Not really. It is as complex as transforming into a bird with the ability to talk...

Kotah came back in the dorm towards the end of the day. With him were the sketchpad and pencils he took, but now carried a rather large book with him. With his arm blocking some of the title, all that was shown was "Blood... 101." He looked slightly different from when he left as well. Instead of his head up, his eyes were on his feet while lost in puzzlement rather than memories. He sat on his bed without a word and cracked open the book, almost literally. The book was old and the spine complained as he opened to the list of chapters. Running a finger down, he chose one and flipped to it.

While the earlier chapters discussed bloodlines, now their uses come to light. One of the more common techniques involves strategic placement of ones blood to cause an unbearable misfortune...

Kotah skipped ahead a few pages and skimmed.

... numbing the entire length of their arm...

He retraced his steps to the beginning of the paragraph.

Next comes a skill that involves weakening your opponent further through numbing sections of the body at a time. First, open a wound large enough to smear. The more you apply over a distance, the greater the effect. For example, if you were to open your hand and slide it down their arm, the effect is numbing the entire length of their arm. Duration is governed by area and amount. Multiple applications do not add the times together, even if linked...

Kotah sat back and reread, the moved on to a chart describing specifics.

Vince heard the other student enter the room, and kept reading the book. He was at the end of the chapter, which reads:

... Although it is useful to talk in ape form, the relationship between apes and humans means that talking as an ape is not necessary, though very useful. However, blending in with other apes so that nobody would become suspicious is another matter. You might think that you'd do what you did as a child, and act like a monkey. However, this is not effective as people will instantly recognise you, since apes are known to be friendlier than that. To be successful, you have to be more human than that. I cannot explain how to do that, you have to figure that one out on your own.

Vince quickly went over the chapter before closing the book, and stood up. He took a deep breath, and closed his eyes. Suddenly, he grew hair all over his body. His arms became bigger and his feet became opposable. He has successfully transformed into a gorilla... he hopes. He looked at the other student, trying hard not to look menacing.

Kotah glanced up from his book as the other student stood from his bed. As his apearence started to change, Kotah raised an eyebrow, void of any other expression. Looking to his own book, then back up, he had to ask, "...Why would you want to transform into a monkey?" True, it was kinda rude, but he couldn't help it. He hated asking stupid questions with obvious answers.

Vince attempted to speak, but alas he only made gorilla sounds. Rats. Still unsuccessful. He transformed back to normal, and started speaking again. "Disguise purposes. Name's Vince."

"Yeah, but..." He went back to studying his book. "Are there even any around here? Besides, a giant spider would look so much cooler." He shrugged behind the blood curses book.
