While climbing the spiral staircase, Bel considered all her options and potential outcomes. And although a good number of them seemed really good, and provided a wonderful boost in popularity and in becoming a better goddess; there were also one or two possibilities that everything would be a complete disaster and things could go sideways oh-so easily.

Stepping outside onto the roof, Bel had no real idea if she'd find "Adriana" there again or not. She hoped that she would. It had been weeks, no, a good month or more since their last late-night rooftop encounter.

And as the days grew closer to the elections deadline, Bel ecame increasingly more anxious and began realising that she needed someone, who was objective, to talk to. She had a nagging doubt sometimes that she had jumped before thinking, that running for class President was a stupid thing to do even though it also felt like the right choice.

Adelaida had come up to the rooftop again. Most of her regular spots for venting were occupied right now, and the ones that weren't were just a little too inconvenient to get to at the moment. She'd come up here as the easiest, quickest option. Maybe get up, let out a bit of fire, and go back down.

What she wasn't expecting was for someone to be here, much less someone who she knew briefly, under what was likely a fake name.

"Wasn't expecting to see you of all people here and now. Alanna, wasn't it? Wonder what brings you here. People don't exactly go here unless something's eating away at them... like me."

She let out a small ball of flame, hovering above her head. Ever since her private lessons, she'd begun to appreciate various forms of venting, especially those that kept her mind busy with focus.

"It's Bel actually," she confessed sheepishly when Adriana recognised her. "Alanna is, well, it's my real name. The one I used to use before I took on the mantle of the goddess, Beltaine," she explained as she sat herself down on the ground.

"And yes to your question," she sighed. "Something is eating me, I may have possibly bit off more than I can handle... or I worry that I have," she admitted as she watched with interest and a little awed how her "rooftop acquaintance" controlled fire so easily.

"What about you? What has made you seek out the rooftop tonight?' Bel asked, wondering what had brought the two together once again.

"Bit of a shame... Alanna has a nice ring to it. But since you've said yours... My name's Adelaida. Adriana was my sister who's, well, no longer with us." Adelaida had plenty of time to grieve over Adriana, but to this day, it was the one thing she wasn't completely comfortable discussing. She stopped there, hoping Bel wouldn't pry further.

The fires flickered and danced in multiple colors as Adelaida attempted to bury the thoughts of her sister. Today had not been a good day, and she needed to relax and unwind a little bit.

"There are some days when grief catches up to you out of nowhere... and guilt. I just had to let the flame out, and everywhere else I normally do it is occupied..."

She sat down near the edge, dangling her legs through the railings. "Care to trade more secrets?"

Bel simply nodded in understanding. Losing a sibling was never easy, and she could fully understand Adelaida's unwillingness to speak about her sister or what happened to her, and Bel didn't feel comfortable asking.

"I think I would actually," Bel admitted as she crossed her legs in front of her. "I don't know why, but I find that I can talk to you more easily than most about my problems," she confided thinking back to their last encounter and how cathartic it had been for her.

Thankfully, there was no prying. Adelaida gave a deep sigh and smiled at her companion, grateful for the tact.

"I'm flattered. And of course, everything here is secret, so you don't have to worry about that."

Adelaida turned around to face Bel, now intently eyeing her companion.

"Well then. I'm all ears, if you'd care to start. See, I don't really have a lot of secrets myself, so if you'd rather I share you'd be better off just asking things."

"Thanks, Adelaida," Bel said, very grateful that they could still talk freely and not have to worry about anything getting out - especially now when she was running in the elections.

"I am not sure if you are aware, but I am head of the cheer squad, and I'm basically in charge of the routines and stuff. I also signed up - on a whim - to run in the elections for student council this term," she confided.

"And now, I am not sure I haven't bit off more than I can chew," she told her companion very truthfully.

Adelaida had shown little interest in the politics of the academy, so she wasn't aware that Bel had any involvement in the elections. Nor did she realize the elections were ongoing to begin with.

"Hmm... well, you chose to bite so it's your choice if you want to stop biting," Adelaida said thoughtfully, thinking of how hard the election could be. She had no clue what a small, school-wide election entailed, but at the least, the stakes were low enough that no one could fault Bel for dropping out.

"It also doesn't sound like it's all that important... not if you can go for it on a whim."

"I know, and I really don't want to stop biting. This election is important, very important. Maybe more than other years," she stated, not really wanting to give it up... she just was concerned that ... that she wasn't as qualified as some of the other candidates.

"And, well, I often do things on a whim," she admitted sheepishly. "It's how I actually became head cheerleader," she confessed, acknowledging that she often did things on impulse - which she had to admit seemed like a pattern Beltaine always seemed to take.

"Why?" Adelaida asked simply. She hadn't any clue what would be special about this election among the many that have been held before. "Why is it more important?"

The look on her eyes changed. She had a keen interest in knowing how minds ticked, and the switch was flipped. Her eyes were now sharp, paying attention to the smallest tells, and taking mental notes.

"Why would this one be any different? Is it because you're joining? Then... maybe it's important to you specifically... suggesting it has some emotional significance. Maybe you want to make some specific change happen... or prove you can," she began saying out loud, brow furrowed in thought.

She broke her own train of thought and stopped talking. "Sorry, do go on."
