“May the forces of evil become confused on the way to your house.” ― George Carlin

First and foremost, Rhydian's eyes are his predominant feature. They're a striking, unnatural Irish green. His eyes are a definite almond shape, and paired with thick eyebrows they can make him come off very approachable or the complete opposite, depending on the expression he's going for. His nose is sharp, his lips are on the thinner side, and his jaw is strong and defined. He has noticeable laugh lines from long periods of smiling and, you guessed it, laughing. Yeah, he does those two things a lot.

Rhydian likes his hair on the shorter side, short enough that it naturally spikes when disheveled. He's the type of blond that falls more to brown, with just enough blond to put him in the category of dirty blond. Rhy is always sporting some form of stubble, though he has a leaning for lighter facial hair. When his hair is on the longer side (to the ears, usually), he sweeps it to one side; there's always just one long strand out of place.

His complexion is tan, but leaning more toward orange in color than brown. Body wise, Rhydian's build is athletic. Triangular, with a broad chest and a taper to his waist and hips. He could strike an intimidating figure, standing at six-foot-two and with enough muscle to be considered a force to be reckoned with. He could look intimidating, if only he weren't so goofy all the time and almost always grinning.

With everything else said, Rhydian is one hundred and ten percent Australian. He has a pretty noticeable accent but still has the habit of thickening it to stereotypical levels just to mess with people.

Standing at thirty-six inches (2.8 feet) to the shoulder, he's larger than the average fox. Most of this height is made up of his long legs. In this form, his form is lanky, built for agility and speed, rather than strength. Like most Kitsune, Rhydian has more than one tail. He's one of those rare nine tails. His fur is more often than not disheveled and remarkably soft. Rhydian's eyes in this shape are a deep red-orange.

In this Kitsune form, Rhydian is a unique blend of ashen and pale orange. His body is primarily an off-white; the color darkens to a deeper gray as it reaches his chest, sides, and underbelly. There are patches of orange to break up the shades of gray. He has a mask of bright orange down his snout and around his eyes, along with his inner ears, and all his legs up to the shoulders and hips.

When moving in this form, he comes off more like a living oil painting than he does something alive. All his movements are smooth and agile, otherworldly.
“I know all those words, but that sentence makes no sense to me.” ― Matt Groening

Rhydian is a trickster at heart. Most of his pranks are harmless and annoying; some are meant to teach people a lesson. He is incredibly easy to get laughing and almost always acts lighthearted. Rhydian isn't a fan of letting people into his deeper, more sincere emotions. He is very much a casual, laid-back person who loves pretending they have no care in the world. Of course, part of the is from the culture he grew up in.

Because of the way his magic works, Rhydian is careful about putting himself is positions that might spurn negative emotions. Regret and other such emotions like it cause him physical harm and can even kill him with large enough doses. As a person, Rhy is prone more to positive thinking which is helpful to his health.

Rhydian considers himself a good man. He's certainly chaotic and has no regard for the law, but he has no desire to hurt people emotionally or otherwise. He tries his best to be an unseen guardian for those around him and ensure people are on the right path. That's just ingrained within him. Despite that kindness, Rhydian has been alive long enough that at this point in life, he's desensitized to so much that he can come off apathetic.

Generally speaking, Rhydian is impulsive in his daily life. He's a free spirit, and spontaneous. He's the kind of man that would pick up and leave for a cross country trip with no idea where he was going. He despises planning and is easily distracted from one activity to another. While he's not selfish by Kitsune standards, he can come off that way to humans. The truth is, he neither feels nor thinks the way humans do, and so it's impossible for him to empathize completely with them. He finds them (and just about every other type of person) interesting.

He's charismatic and makes casual friendships quickly, but to get close to him requires a lot of pushing. That isn't a matter of him having terrible secrets or anything; he's just one of those people who'd rather spend time in a group than one-on-one. He treats his friends (and acquaintances) like royalty, showering them with gifts and praise. He doesn't think twice about doing something with someone if he finds the activity fun.
“A good joke doesn’t necessarily need appreciation from others. One can freely laugh at one’s own deserving jokes.” ― Pawan Mishra, Coinman: An Untold Conspiracy

“I have something that I call my Golden Rule. It goes something like this: 'Do unto others twenty-five percent better than you expect them to do unto you.' … The twenty-five percent is for error.” ― Linus Pauling

ILLUSIONARY ENVIRONMENT Rhydian can create environmental illusions, illusions which seem to change the environment around the people it is cast on. At most, Rhydian can cast this ability at a 120-yard radius around himself, though this is extremely tiring and takes him concentrating on maintaining the effect.

This magic doesn't so much target one or multiple people as much as it changes people's perception of whatever location Rhydian is channeling his magic on. The magic is very similar to glamour, almost entirely alike, except that it works on an area rather than a person.

This magic works best when used in smaller locations, such as homes or rooms, rather than large open spaces, where it can be hard to sustain. While the illusion won't cut off suddenly at the 120-yard point (rather it will just seem too far to view anything else), Rhydian does need to keep his world looking "alive." The more intricate Rhydian attempts to make an illusion, the tougher it is to keep looking real. For instance, he would have to ensure each blade of grass in a field is moving if there is wind and have to understand how things move to keep the fantasy alive.

This magic is strongest against sight, but weakest to smell. People with a good sense of smell can cut through the illusion and feel the magic. When focusing on the magic rather than the artificial scents, the illusion will be broken.
TENACITY (Passive) This power is very simple. Rhydian has a strong resistance against mind and behavior altering magic. He's not completely immune to it, but it's extremely hard for it to get through his magical barriers. This ability is always active, and Rhydian cannot turn it off in any way. Unfortunately, it also reduces or completely stops even helpful and neutral mental magics, such as telepathy, emotion manipulation, any mind like sharing/bonding, etc.

The only magic unaffected by this power is the binding magic when hs Cosmosphere is stolen.
SPECIES INFO As a Kitsune, Rhydian is agiler and more intelligent than the average person. He isn't immortal in the sense that he is ageless, one day he will die of old age, his lifespan is just so long that a few hundred years aren't going to be the end of him.

Rhydian is prone to trickery and mischief. Being a Kitsune, he just can't help himself. Sometimes, his pranks come with a lesson attached, other times not so much. On rare occasions (when he really likes someone) he will attach himself to a home or family and primarily prank, tease, and watch over them. When attaching himself to a home, he may very well bring the people who live there money or items he has stolen from other places, as his morality is not one of a human's.

Rhydian's human form is nothing but glamour, so his senses are as advanced as real foxes would be, rather than a human's. Due to this, when drunk or careless, his tail has a tendency to show.

Cosmosphere:

Rhydian's Cosmosphere must always be within a five-mile radius of his person. It contains his magic, lifeforce, and free will. When stolen Rhydian is put under the thief's command and forced to do whatever it is they tell him. He cannot deny them any wish. However, if a Kitsune can find and retrieve their star ball, the servitude is broken, and they are free to do as they please once again.

But, when given freely, the Cosmosphere is the ultimate sign of trust and love for the person it is offered. This method is known as bonding. It takes a prick of blood, which is mixed into the Cosmosphere. This is as much a spiritual connection as it is a magical one and tends to grant gifts to both involved. The process is rare, and can only be done to one person at a time, as such the benefits awarded from the experience aren't well known, but they're varied and heavily dependent on both people involved. They are small things, such as the ability to vaguely feel where the other is.
WEAKNESSES Cosmosphere: Rhydian's Cosmosphere is by far his biggest weakness. The Cosmosphere is a fist-sized cosmic ball of magic and Rhydian's lifeforce. It's the Kitsune version of a phylactery. Unlike a phylactery, however, the Cosmosphere cannot be broken, nor does it need to be to kill Rhydian. Rather, finding and obtaining the Cosmosphere is the only method of taking Rhydian's freewill.

When someone has stolen the Cosmosphere, Rhydian is theirs to command as they see fit. He cannot resist an order given to him, no matter how much he dislikes it, and he is always at their beck and call. With the Cosmosphere, Rhydian's Fox half sees the person in question as the ultimate master and love. So, while Rhydian may hate them, there will always be a part of him that loves them so long as they have possession of his Cosmosphere.

Fear of Dogs: Rhydian has an intense and instinctual fear of canines, and they tend to have an instinctual need to chase and hunt him. It's very common for even well-behaved dogs to snarl, growl, and bark at Rhydian, and even try to lunge at him. When he sees dogs, Rhydian's tail becomes visible and he goes on high alert. If he can, he runs as fast and as far as he can. Full panic mode.

Negative Emotions: Most negative emotions affect Kitsune more than is normal. Notably, regret and depression, which make Kitsune increasingly sick until they die.
Anxiety/Fear/Powerlessness: When experiencing any of these emotions, Rhydian's magic is harder to work, channel, and control. His true form is difficult to hide, making his glamour weak and he is likely to revert to his fox form.
Depression/Grief/Regret: These emotions make Rhydian physically ill. The longer or more intensely he's feeling any of these, the sicker he becomes. He can even die from experiencing these emotions. Broken heart syndrome has never been more real.
Hatred/Rage: While feeling anything in this category, Rhydian's magic is chaotic and likely to express what he's feeling. His powers act all too eager for a fight, to break loose and destroy anything and everything.

Pride: Rhydian, as a Kitsune, is extremely prideful and thus, is unlikely to seek people out when wounded or upset. He would sooner curl up somewhere and leave his life to the hands of fate. As a Kitsune he cannot accept aid from those who are not willing. People who wish to help a Kitsune must do so of their own free will. He is unwilling to ask for help, and as such, most aid must come from another's initiative.

Kitsune Honor: Honor and promises are important to the Kitsune. As such, Rhydian cannot break a promise he has made or a debt he must pay. He will always follow his word, but always be careful how he says things, like most mythical creatures with this downfall, they have a lawyer's version of the truth. If a promise is ever broken, Rhydian becomes self-destructive to the extreme and if someone breaks a promise to him, they have created a lifelong enemy.

“Can you define "plan" as "a loose sequence of manifestly inadequate observations and conjectures, held together by panic, indecision, and ignorance"? If so, it was a very good plan.” ― Jonathan Stroud, The Ring of Solomon

Rhydian is an indigenous Australians, born to the land before European colonization with his mother and several siblings. Most of Rhydian's past isn't talked about. He doesn't like speaking of the past, and most of his were filled with casualty and pranking, so there isn't much he would consider noteworthy, though others might.

There was a point in his life (at around five hundred years) where he traveled the world for a decade or two, but he grew bored and returned to his homeland. In recent years (the past twenty or fifteen), Rhydian studied to become a doctor and it wasn't long until he received a letter from Starlight Academy, offering him a job, which he happily accepted.
