Dr. Bryndísarson's smile made Remi suspicious. Did he think she was being silly? At least try to look like he was taking her seriously.

Then Remi tensed. She had done background research on all potential therapists to make sure she was getting the best one for her. And what she found about Dr. Bryndísarson seemed linked to what he was saying now.

Her eyes darted towards the floor and she began knotting her hands together. The topic wasn't on beauty like it was before, but she wanted nothing less but to toss herself out a window at this very moment.

"A-Ah... Like, uh... Just, when Ilada changed us to be a better fit for any elementalists we served, our strength was lowered too. So we wouldn't think we could be... Er..." How to best word this without having Dr. Bryndísarson be concerned with her species' mental health. "So we'd be more reliant on our partners while still being strong. A lot of the elementalists here are, like, naturally super strong anyways, so we gotta be strong, but not too strong. "

"My strength was one of my best qualities and now I'm so weak. I've been training, but our cap is, way, way lower."

The discomfort was obvious, and so was her sudden focus on strength. It wasn't quite a change in conversation, considering he'd brought it up, but it was fairly clear which half of the conversation Remi would prefer to talk about.

He could make his point on either, so he let it stay with strength.

"It sounds frustrating," Valli said, "to suddenly have it jerked out from under you. To have something you considered a core part of your identity taken away from you."

"It's definitely frustrating, yeah, complaining won't change anything. I just gotta deal. Though, I've been researching different types of magic to see if I can buff myself past my limits. The Regalia stuff would've been easier, but," her frown grew taut for a moment, "I'd rather not bond with a stranger. That's not my place."

Valli was, thankfully, fairly familiar with the 'Regalia stuff'. Gask had been involved, and that had given him a general idea.

"That would be a very hard clash of culture," Valli said. "Oricenta place a strong focus on the bond, so bonding with someone you just met would be uncomfortable. But-"

There was a soft chime from Valli's desk, one that Remi would know all too well: That the session was nearly over.

"I think we covered a lot of ground," Valli said after a moment. "But it might be best to stop there and digest, since this seems like a decent stopping point."

Remi became noticeably more alert when the clock chimed. She was absolutely horrid at keeping track of time during sessions, or, well, anything where she got too emotionally invested. "O-Oh, right. Yeah, I have a ton to think about, but this helped a bit. A lot, I mean. Thank you."

After settling on a time for their next session, Remi pushed herself up from her seat and headed towards the door to leave.
