Kristin sat on a big rock. She wanted to leave this school, she wanted out and to pretend that it was all some dream then. She threw a rock into the water. It was night and she hoped a certain someone would show up but that was a long shot.

The rock burst back out of the water and landed beside her as if the lake had spat it out in disgust.
Then, a familiar, smooth and snide voice behind her.
"It seems that mother nature doesn't like the taste of rocks..."
Judas Anderson stood beside her, floating a few inches off the ground, his eyes foggy and distant. Then he smirked.
"Who were you expecting? Bob Dole?"

“Not you that‘s for sure.” Kristin said. Kristin didn’t care anymore. She wasn’t going to argue with him. She wasn’t in the mood to play games. Kristin felt horrible and she was on the verge of tears, not that he would care anyway.

Judas sighed.
"Tell me, your problem to a fellow human being. What pains you? Everyone in the academy feels pain, a sublime agony, because we are special, because we left our homes, our families, and often, never had any to begin with."

Kristin stared at him, "Do you really think I'm going to tell you?" Kristin asked him honestly. Kristin didn't let him wait for a answer, "Well your right, I am going to tell you....I've been thinking about my dead sister." Kristin said truthfully.

Judas nodded to himself, floating.
"Yes...it usually is death of the family...I'd usually come up with something to reassure you, but I haven't anything I can say, my family passed long ago. I suppose apathy is the answer."

“And it‘s all my fault that she‘s dead.” Kristin said. Kristin threw one of her ‘balls of light’ in the lake and watched it sink to the bottom of the lake as the light of it faded away.

Judas smiled sympathetically.
"Ah, I'm sure it's only a misunderstanding or the human way of placing guilt on yourself. I doubt that you literally killed her. At least be glad she's in a better place now. Nothingness, the afterlife, whatever, it's all better than this damned existence."

Kristin threw another ball of light into the lake. “Maybe she is in a better place, maybe she isn’t who’s to know?” Kristin said. Kristin would have gave anything to see her sister again, Kristin never figured out why someone was after her sister.

Judas turned away, peering out into the horizon with dazed eyes.
He spoke suddenly, not looking at Kristin.
"I'm sure your sister is somewhere better than this place...let me...let me tell you...something I have never told another human being. I feel it may comfort you."
