He presents himself with a slouch which makes him appear shorter, and makes it harder to pick out he's fairly physically adept.
He has generally clear pale skin, and it would be pretty easy for someone to look at him and say he just doesn't get a lot of sun. His hands, forearms, face and neck don't have any markings, but he has various different types of scarring on his body, legs and upper arms. This does include general slash scars, and some burn scars in small patches.
René has short, messier styled black hair with a few longer strands nearer the front. It is slick back so the few that could get in the way of his eyes does not. It's a pretty natural style and not hard for him to wake up without doing much to it. He has lighter stubble, but easily noticed.
He has peculiar coloured eyes which is definitively red, but has a lighter and dull look to them. Despite this, his eyes still carry a sense of spirit.

Although his body looks fleshy, touching him reveals it's actually pretty solid, about as hard as steel.

He doesn’t outwardly express a lot of emotions, and will avoid anything that could cause intense emotions. He likes to try and offer advice to others based from his own experiences, but knows he won’t be able to help everyone.
Internally, he has a pretty realistic view. He knows that not everything goes to what you hope, and he believes that it’s better to assume the worst and not be surprised, or pleasantly surprised. Although he has his coping mechanisms, he still has the occasional drink.
Active Abilities: Shifting - René has a lot of issues relating to his other form. He is able to shift into his other form willingly, but he has an extreme amount of trouble attempting to shift back. Intense emotions are able to possibly cause René to shift involuntarily, and is even harder to shift back from. He is able to partially shift his arms and legs, but rarely does all four limbs at the same time. Attempting to shift any other part of his body partially will either fail or cause full shifting. Partial shifting requires intense concentration from René otherwise he risks losing his added strength when he needs it, or fully shifting. Partially shifting his legs and arms boosts the natural strength of his muscles, allowing him to lift 910kg, and sprint 30mph, with increased jump strength. After shifting back into human form, it isn't uncommon for him to be unable to even walk or lift anything of much weight, and to also be able to eat his entire bodyweight in food. Sword - Generally speaking, René's sword is just a fairly standard heavy type sword, but when in use by René it becomes unnaturally light, allowing him to use it with much more ease. If someone else attempts to use it, they will find it heavy. If someone isn't sufficiently strong, it's unlikely they'd be able to even use it.
Passive Abilities: Monstrous Physiology - In human form, René is an average human aside from having sense of smell similar to a snake: he is capable of breathing through his mouth to smell.
In his other form, there are plenty of differences. He is naturally blind and selectively deaf, only capable of hearing someone who has a scent band. His sense of smell and taste are directly linked, so he's capable of breathing through his mouth to smell. His sense of smell is equivalent to a bear. His flesh is as hard as steel. He's able to regenerate severe wounds in a matter of days. Injuries carry over to both forms, meaning he can shift from human to his other form in order to regenerate injuries sustained in human form. He is extremely strong in this form, being able to lift 3830kg and sprint 45mph.
René's other form defaults to being stationary if no other living thing is nearby. If something living is near, he will attempt to kill it. Will not attempt to kill someone with a scent band.
Toxic - In his other form, his skin secretes a toxin. This does mean this is something exclusive to his other form, and does not appear in his partial. If someone touches his skin, their own skin could absorb the toxin and they could become varying degrees of poisoned. After a minute and up to 20 minutes, it'd be mild and would require no treatment. 20 minutes to 40 minutes, it would be moderate and a doctor should be visited. 40 to 50 minutes would be severe but easily survivable if a hospital is visited soon. After 50 minutes of contact with his skin, it is a lethal dose and can kill in 5 minutes. It is possible to survive, but the person would be ill for a while. However, this does obviously require someone to be touching his skin near constantly for 50 minutes.
The real risk is if his skin touches an open wound and allows the toxin to enter the bloodstream. Any dose is lethal and requires immediate attention to survive. Even those with toxin resistances and immunities will feel its effects, even if they don't require medical assistance. It causes intense fever, nausea, headaches, vomiting, unconsciousness, increased heart beat, sweating, shivering and violent muscle spasms.
Extended Age - René has an extended age, meaning he will live up to 600 years old. His body is designed to stay in its prime for as it can, meaning he's staying physically around his current age for a while.
Weaknesses: Scent Bands - In the world, there are a total of 10 scent bands with a scent very similar to René's other form. They cannot be recreated without taking samples from the other form itself, so simply having a band mean it cannot be recreated unless someone made a literal copy with use of an ability, for example. When someone is wearing this scent band, they are able to force René to shift into his other form. When he is in this other form, he will not attack the band holder. The band holder is in absolute control of the other form and can give instructions. The other form will follow the instructions with no objection. Placing the band on the other form will cause it immense confusion that can allow René to gain control and force himself to shift back.
Currently, René is in possession of three of the bands. He leaves one in his apartment, and carries the other two on him.
Fire Weakness - In both forms, René's body is a rather flammable substance. Simply put, his body catches on fire as easy as dry grass in the summer. This means a flame will spread over his entire body rapidly, and can burn through his entire body within minutes.
Extremely Fast Metabolism - René has an extremely fast metabolism which requires 5,000 calories intake everyday in order to maintain his current body weight. 4,500 will mean he loses one pound of weight per week. His father was a labourer, and too busy with his work to raise René. Despite this, he lived a relatively happy life until the age of 13 when the second world war started. His father enlisted into the army to fight in the war pretty quickly, and René's sister continued to raise him.
The next 3 years were rather troubling. In 1940, the place that René and his sister lived in had become occupied by German troops, and in 1941, they stopped receiving letters from their father. It wasn't long after that they were informed he had been killed. During this entire time, René had attempted to run away no less than 8 times to try and join the fighting. But luckily, each time, René's sister was able to track him down before he actually managed to go anywhere.
That was until 1942, when René was 16. He ran away again, and encountered some German soldiers. He attempted to fight them, but was very quickly taken care of. He was arrested, then taken away, and René's sister was powerless to stop any of it. That would be the last time René would see his sister for a decade.
Due to his age, and the fact that René was a pretty physically active 16 year old, he was brought to Germany to join an experimental group of soldiers. At the time, they were in the range of 11-16 year olds, with René being in the older bracket and new. Most of the other children had already been experimented on and brainwashed.
It wasn't long before René was experimented on, attempting to make him stronger than he was. There were a few other experiments who were strong, of course, but René's was to make him strong at any cost, even if it meant his sanity and humanity. Previous subjects for this type had seen them die in most cases, so they were thrilled when René got to a state where there was a noticeable difference and he was still alive. They crafted a sword to pair with this new strength, and he was trained to use it along with his ability at the same time. However, when he was sent on a mission, he refused to use his new found strength. When returned to run some tests, and to fight some the other experiments, René refused. Eventually, the researchers had enough and progressed the experimentation on René. The few that survived the first stage had all been attempted to progress further, but they died. They didn't expect René to survive, which was why they decided to do the test.
To their surprise, he did. He gained a second form that was a mindless monster with incredible strength, flesh as hard as metal, regeneration, and poison. After several deaths from soldiers who attempted to get samples from the monster, the researchers were able to manufacture 10 scent bands, that had a scent similar to the monster. They found that when the other form smelled the bands, it would hear whoever had it. It would listen to instruction with no question. The best part? René was not in control of this other form.
The most René could do was occasionally take some control. He was able to shift back on occasion, but those with the band could force him to shift right back. This lasted until near the end of the war, when one of the other experiments named Brünhild returned. She convinced many of the others to escape, and René agreed. But the day before the escape was supposed to happen, the order was given for all the experiments to be killed.
During the escape, René and another experiment became separated from the others while they both tried to find weapons. Instead the pair came face to face with a researcher who had a band. The researcher forced René to shift, and instructed him to kill the other experiment with him. Powerless to refuse, René murdered the other experiment. After the researcher ran away, René managed to shift back. He already had guilt from the murders he had committed, but this one added.
Eventually, René found the sword he had been trained to use and one of the scent bands, and fled. For the next 10 years, he attempted to track down any of the researchers to kill them. When he finally got a lead, he found it was the one who forced him to kill the other experiment. When he went to kill the researcher, he found that they had a new life and family. But revenge was too much for René, and he attempted anyway. To his surprise, the researcher still had the band. But all they did was shift René so he would stop attacking, disarmed him, then allowed him to shift back. He just... sat René down and they talked.
Although René couldn't ever forgive the researcher, or any of the other researchers, for what they did to him... he no longer wanted to kill them. As a parting gift, the researcher gave the band to René and gave him a pointer to where he could find another researcher. Not to kill them, but to find a third band. He did this, but found no other evidence on where he could find the nine other scent bands.
With that, he returned to France for the first time since all of this began. Now 1953. His sister who was only 23 when René was taken was now 34. She was married and had her own children. For the next few years, René spent time with his sister and her family. After that, he went to explore the world. Specifically, he went on a journey to control the ticking bomb that was his other form.
In 2002, he decided his journey of inner peace and self discovery came to an end. He went to university in England to gain the qualifications to become a student counsellor, which he immediately went into once he completed all of his qualifications. He moved schools accordingly under different names when it started to become suspicious from how he didn't age, and this system worked.

After school, being worried about the student, René visited the student's residence only to find the scouts already there. He was honest and told the scouts what he saw, but then also told them of his own nature. Because he hadn't broken the veil, he wasn't required to come to Manta Carlos but he was offered the opportunity. He decided he would agree, and that he would take upon a student counselling position at the academy. For the first time in years, he used his real name freely.
