Michael rocked back and forth on his heels a few times and tried to think of what to say. He wasn't used to a one-sided conversation like this, usually he had quite the opposite; the voice in his head butting into his thoughts and talking to him. On cue he heard a little voice say
Well, she's a shining beacon of joy, is she not?
Michael frowned, annoyed by the interuption to his thoughts.
Oh, come now get over it, here I am and here I'll stay.
Yes, I know.
Replied Michael dully.
He looked to the girl, realizing he'd forgotten her for a few moments.
"Sorry, i drifted off there for a minute. So, um...well, what are your powers."
He smiled, hoping she'd reply.

"I can cancel the power's of others."
Klay was surprised at her own voice. She had not spoken for so long. She had forgotten what it sounded like! She smiled softly as she watched the water.
"Please don't be surprised by my appearence. It only happenswhen the moon is full."

He smiled and nodded, wondering what she looked like normally, and glad that she'd answered. "I can summon shadows, and well, have a duel personality...sorta." He didn't really no how to explain it, but thought it was best not to go into it too deeply. He looked out across the water and began drifting off, then realized he still didn't know her name.
"So...what's your name?" He smiled at her, glad that he'd seemed to have made another new friend.

Klay smiled softly.
"Klay."
She looked back up at Michael. She smiled back and shifted her wings a bit. A light snow started to fall and coat her hair. The moon was starting to set and Klay looked at it thoughtfully.
"I must warn you though, when I turn normal, I put on a mask and close up completely. I don't say a word. And never will."

Michael frowned, and turned to her. "But why would you do that?" He smiled kindly and said, "You have a nice voice, and a don't doubt your pretty as well."
Oh, please do give it a rest lover-boy. A harsh voice sounded in his head.
Quiet you, He replied, I'm making a new friend here, if it was up to you I'd just sit around in the shadows all day.
The voice grumbled but didn't speak again. Michael sighed, wishing he could simply put on a mask and leave his other side behind, but it wasn't that simple.
Coming back to reality, Michael said, "Maybe we can hang out some time tomorrow, if you don't want to talk to anyone else that's alright, we could be alone...as friends I mean." He smiled, hoping she didn't find it creepy that he wanted to talk to her. He just wanted to be her friend, he wouldn't try anything else.

Klay's eyes had a wave of sadness.
"Its... complicated."
She wasn't ready yet to tell him of her swear to her sister. She wouldn't break it. The sun tipped upwards, its tip leaning over the horizon. She quickly put on her mask. As daylight hit her skin, it lightened, leaving only creamy skin. Her hair turned to it's normal blue color.
She waved softly, as she stepped back. Back to the academy. She couldn't be late for class.

Michael didn't say anything as she left. He watched her blue hair move as she walked away, and looked at light color of her hands. He tried to fit the two on the face he'd seen before, but suddenly realized he hadn't even seen it clearly. He frowned, wishing he knew what she looked like under that mask, and hoping he could talk to her again sometime. Or even just see her.
That would be nice.

Michael put his hands in his pockets and walked back up the dock, Klay was already out of site, but he followed the path she'd taken to the school, wondering what new things would occur this year at the Academy.
