Name: Reikiko
Age: 24
Birthday: 20 January, 1992
Gender: Female
Species: Bio-engineered
Career: School Nurse / Dorm lady (if both aren't an option, then just school nurse)
Appearance Description:
Human Disguise: http://oi44.tinypic.com/2j4vmmq.jpg
While retaining similarities to her true appearance, Reikiko is most easily identified as a young woman in her early twenties. Having a tall and slender build frame, few would imagine that this elegant looking lady would secretly be a man-made creation meant to pursue perfection. Her hair, long blond locks held together in a ponytail by an expensive-looking accessory, clearly show a careful maintenance and a habit of ensuring it is often brushed into the stylish look she prefers.
More easy to notice are likely her captivating eyes, pure azure-colored irises that seem to twinkle with a mixture of excitement and mischief, and often one can find themselves getting lost in the gaze of the lady. Aside from her eyes and hair, her well-developed figure is usually covered in a business suit, a detail that is most amusing to those who know her true form.
True form:
As a bio-engineered creature Reikiko seems to resemble a humanoid that takes most of the features of a female human, but adopt certain insectoid qualities, more specifically the carapace-like covering and long tail that ends up with a sharp-looking stinger.
It's interesting to note that the mask she possesses, is not just a part of her carapace, but also her species' ability to adopt a disguise, quite alike to a shapeshifter's magic.
Personality Description:
Those who seen Reikiko, and experienced all facets of her nature will almost certainly agree that the prosecutor they know is an enigmatic figure. Those who first meet her often label her as the female variant of a classic gentleman, the stereotypical nobleman who acts with a certain eloquence. Her cheerful and slightly playful demeanor tends to serve as an excellent means to interact with the younger crowds. Indeed, Reikiko usually appears as a cheerful and well-mannered young woman whose kindness and suave attitude that makes her easy to get along with.
To those who know her a little bit better Reikiko also shows a deeply ingrained sense of justice, the type of woman who is incapable of letting a crime go by unpunished. She's surprisingly mature and understanding, often displaying an aptitude for listening to people, and share in their emotions as if they were her own. But she also seems incredibly loyal to those she calls her friends.
But above all, Reikiko is an actor, and the earlier description is merely one of the countless masks she can put on if needed: The joker, the white knight, the kind elder sibling, the charming stranger and of course there's also the ruthless anti-hero. If there was a way to truly describe Reikiko, then perhaps the following might be the most genuine description of her true nature, at least if she still possesses that:
They say a lion doesn't know fear, and that the heart of a lion beats within Reikiko. Upholding with the descriptions of her heroic nature, Reikiko is a brave and courageous individual. However, this trait, against all expectations was not a natural thing for the woman to possess. Rather, it was born as a result of her nursing of her deceased creator, the constant struggles of the man motivating her to remain strong and brave at all times.
While her life might have unfolded in a way she had not desired, the fact that she has been given a second chance to make up for her failure to save her creator, as a school nurse at the Starlight Academy. She's the type of girl who is prone to travel to a foreign land, just to see what awaits her there. In the end, if she refused to explore the possibilities her new life has to offer then she would end up getting at a standstill, and everyone knows that in a world like ours moving forwards is necessary if you wish to survive.
Curiously enough her suave attitude is not a disguise; she truly is a confident and pleasant to interact with woman. The type of person you can easily converse with while she displays a relaxed and often delightfully social demeanor. Not only that but as a woman of her age she knows all too well that the right compliment at the right time can cause a situation to turn into her favor.
Having seen firsthand what sort of things can happen to a person when they are encouraged and helped one can say that Reikiko is often prone to take on a distant mentor-like attitude toward those she considers weaker than her, especially children. In the end, she considers it a mutually beneficial choice, because the weaker individual increased their chance for survival, and she herself obtains a potential ally. However, her method of encouragement might be a bit harsh, for she believes that people nurture the best on barren soil, and that means to improve from enduring hardships.
An aspect of her personality that tends to naturally blend in with her pride, Reikiko is often rather arrogant in the sense that she overestimates herself. She might not think lowly of others; it's just that she thinks really highly of herself. As someone who often stood in the spotlight, only outmatched by her mentor caused Reikiko to manifest this trait. She often considers herself capable of doing more than people imagine she can, and often this manifests in her inability to properly calculate her own capacities when it comes to a battle.
Associated to the fact she failed to save her creator from the illness that troubled him. This personal failure has made Reikiko often become prone to seeing things a lot more negatively than they are when things turn out in a way she didn't expect them to be. However, it's also that regret that turns into pessimism, which serves as an unhealthy stimulant for Reikiko to move forward. In the end, with a regretful past it's not exactly like she has anything to lose by moving forwards.
The type of girl who lives in the here and now Reikiko is often prone to act the moment an opportunity shows itself rather than waiting to see things. While this might conflict with her deceptive nature the fact she’s impulsive also opens a certain sense of training in thinking on the move. However, most often this manifests as a negative trait because it makes her impatient and dislike the idea of waiting when the opportunity is there.
While she does not develop a grudge quickly, the moment she does one is pretty much guaranteed it will last until the day one of them dies. In the end something about them remaining unsolved only stirs an intense hatred within her. Of course, while she might be convinced to drop a grudge the saying ‘She might forgive, but she’d never forget’ applies to her. She might decide to forgive someone in the end, but the grudge for the event will always linger.
Powers:
1: A Dreamer's Requiem
The ability to manipulate a person's mind is always known to be a very potent power, but what if one was able to actually intrude upon an individual's mindscape?
A Dreamer's Requiem does exactly that: By having contact with an individual Reikiko is able to create a dreamscape and enter it properly (although she only needs to make contact to initiate the power, a fragment of her consciousness will enter the dreamscape.) Within this realm, Reikiko possesses the ability to stir the mindscape into various ways. She can make a person experience a memory of their past (although what type of memory has to either be one that she icly has knowledge of, or will be left to the other player's decision), or a manifestation of a dream or nightmare. She could even alter the dreamscape entirely to serve as a private talking ground.
However, this ability has some vulnerabilities. While Reikiko is considered a 'none-existant presence' within the realm, meaning the creations of the dreamscape ignores her, but the target of this power can still try to attack her, and suffering enough pain will expel Reikiko's control over the dreamscape.
In the meanwhile within the real world, the victim will be temporarily rendered in a trance, but if they suffer enough harm they will snap out of the trance, automatically ending the dreamscape. It's important to note that if used in combat the victim will suffer illusionary harm, meaning that although their body doesn't get hurt, their mind will still feel as if they have experienced it (for example being stabbed in the dreamscape, will still feel quite painful upon waking up). To think of a game term, imagine a damage over time spell that triggers right when you wake up.
Also, this ability can normally only be used on one person at a time, since any further dividing of her consciousness would place a too great strain upon her mind.
A final detail worth mentioning is that if either participant gets attacked, the dreamscape will collapse and the power will end.
1-A: Therapy
The first subbranch of her ability, this power manifests when a person allows her willingly access to their mind. Aside from making the experience a lot less exhausting for Reikiko, it also grants her a greater control over the dreamscape due to a lack of resistance from the patient.
If at any time the person starts to resist and Reikiko struggles against it, the power will shift to the ‘Treatment’ subbranch.
1-B: Treatment
A forced upon version of A Dreamer’s Requiem: First and foremost is the fact that in this subbranch Reikiko can be forced to end the usage of her power by suffering enough physical harm. It’s also important to note that due to the strain upon the victim’s mind, any harm done in the dreamscape will be given as a mental pain backlash. Also this tends to be exhausting for her to do, so Treatments can't be spammed repeatedly.
Power 2: Regeneration
A power related to her species, Reikiko is able to mend injuries, and at the pinnacle of her ability is even able to restore recently lost limbs. However, the latter is incredibly exhausting on her physically.
Species Abilities:
Flight: While Reikiko is able to fly in her true form thanks to her wings, she likely won’t be earning any speed records.
Countless Masks: Able to adopt a disguise based upon the genes she has, this is often used out of preference to make her work a bit easier by changing her form into that of a female human.
Biography:
If there is one thing, one ambition that has lasted throughout the passage of time, then it would be without a doubt the pursuit of perfection. In the end perfection is quite a peculiar state of being. What is the perfect being? Is it a person without flaws, or perhaps someone with so many capacities that they are considered supernatural, to the point that they might be even considered beyond humanity? If there is one way to describe perfection, then it would likely be the fact that the only ones capable of being considered ‘Perfect’ is those who walk the domain of divinity: gods and goddesses.
For Jonathan Grimm the pursuit of perfection was not just a goal or an ambition, it had become a reason for living. The young professor was quite an ordinary person.
He wasn’t the offspring of a supernatural creature, or blessed by the powers of an extraterrestrial entity, he was merely a young man who had long pursued his passion for sports. Although the Grimm family were famous as scientists, researchers and scholars alike for generations, Jonathan had found a passion in martial arts, and since his childhood combined his studies with a diligent training program. However, shortly after his nineteenth birthday misfortune struck for the promising lad. An incident during an exhibition match led to the diagnose that he had a terminal disease that would escalate and lead to an early death if he continued his career.
The young man was heartbroken, and for days he spend brooding in grief. Why did this have to happen? Why was someone like him, a well-meaning and proper denizen of the world being punished so unjustly? Why didn’t the gods save him? In the end the answer became clear to him. It wasn’t that the gods were cruel, but they were silent… because they were non-existent. The young man started to firmly believe in the fact that the reason people suffered like he did, because the throne of the gods, the domain of divinity had been left unclaimed for so long. He wasn’t arrogant enough to believe himself worthy of taking that throne, but…
Although he blindly pursued the quest to create a deity, the truth was that all he desired was to create someone who could help erase such suffering like he had experienced. In his eyes a true goddess was one who could erase all the pain and suffering a person felt, or help them overcome it.
Perhaps that was why Reikiko was not born as a biological weapon, but as a simple companion, a treatment for Jonathan’s suffering. The first and most obvious aspect of Reikiko was without a doubt her ability to adjust her way of acting to fit his mood. If he was depressed she would show an upbeat and encouraging behavior to help lift his spirits, and if he was sick she would show a worried and caring nature. She was in a way a perfect actor, but even more impressive was without a doubt the unique ability born as a result of his research: The ability to interact directly with a person’s mind.
Every person, at least those with a mind of their own were capable of dreaming, whether it was through a brain or through the programming of their system, every being was capable of dreaming, or at least to possess the potential to dream. Those dreams took place in a small realm, a small personal dreamscape, and Reikiko was able to influence that realm directly.
Oh how fond he was of the days where Reikiko helped him forget about the hardships of reality by making him experience dreams of himself being a famous martial artist, but in the end there was also a certain emptiness within his heart. Had he strayed from his path? Would Reikiko be able to be described as the perfect being?
When he voiced the thoughts to the bio-engineered girl, the response made him break out in tears.
“I might not be a goddess, or an entity that reached perfection… But perhaps the fact that I made you happy means I’m the perfect companion~”
Indeed, she might had not been a goddess or a entity who reached a state of perfection, but she had made sure his health didn’t get worse, or that he felt sad… In a way, she might had been The Perfect Nurse.
As Reikiko learned more and more about taking care of others, a tragedy came in the form of Jonathan’s death, and while she was left to wonder what purpose she had left, a scout of the Starlight Academy approached her. They told her of a school in a distant place that had all sorts of people that required help and comfort, confused, troubled and often even endangered individuals who could possibly only be saved by the help of people like herself.
It was just like that, that Reikiko became appointed the role of a school nurse at Starlight Academy
Additional Information:
Although Reikiko serves primarily as a school nurse, she is known to often be asked to assist in psychological treatment by usage of her powers.
