Really, I fell out of a tree...

"I fell out of a tree."
He'd thought his alibi was flawless. The splinters, the bruises and the cuts could all be explained by falling out of a tree, couldn't they?
"I'm sorry, boy. The fact you haven't broken any bones make that hard to believe."
Why didn't I think of that?
"Uh...maybe I was just lucky?"
Okay, Felix. Think fast. Why didn't you break any bones?
He couldn't come up with a reason for the life of him. He'd have to go through who-knows-what if he said he's been in a fight, but he couldn't think of a good excuse.
This would be the perfect moment for someone to interrupt...

Elatrion entered the hospital wing just in time to here what was going on. She smiled, this boy had obviously NOT fallen out of a tree.

He wasn't up very high. she said walking forward trying to save his butt. He could choose to let her...or reveal what it was that he had actually been doing. He's a bit of a clutz, and a show off but he only got up about a foot or two before the branch broke and he fell. she shrugged. I'm sorry that he's a dork, but could you please just fix him up now that you have a witness?

The nurse seemed taken aback at the girl's sudden entry.
"W-well, I guess that's possible..."
She turned to Felix.
"All right, then. Just sit over there and we'll get you a bed in a minute."
Thank you, random stranger.
Felix walked over to the seat, noticing the girl was still there. He waited until the nurse was out of sight before talking.
"Thanks. You really saved me back there. I wasn't sure how to explain what happened..."
He felt bad for lying, but he wasn't sure if the girl had figured out he wasn't telling the truth - and if she hadn't, he didn't want to give himself up.

Elatrion gave a small chuckle and sat down two chairs from where the boy was sitting.
It's okay, you needed help and even if I don't know you I gave it. Besides it's always good to make new friends. she said flashing him a smile.
My name is Elatrion Donatrice. What is your name?...if you don't mind my asking that is...

"It's okay. I'm Felix."
He was smiling outside, but inside he was confused by the girl's idea of making friends.
"But why did you help me even though you didn't know what was happening? I could have been trying to dodge class for all you knew."

Elatrion shrugged. She had no idea how to go about making a friend, she'd never had one before other than Ata.
That's your business not mine, I just saw that you needed help and lended a hand. It's nice to meet you Felix.

She smiled at him but quickly turned away looking down at her feet. Why was she still there? What was she doing? She had no idea what to do next...

Felix smiled. Elatrion seemed like a nice enough girl.
For a moment, though, her eyes turned to her own feet, as if trying to end the conversation.
"Uh, are you alright?"

Ela looked up at him with a smile smile, Yeah...I'm okay. I'm just not good at....well...socializing. She looked away for a moment.
Why is this so difficult?! she wondered. With a small sigh she looked back up at him.

So what did you do anyway? she asked motioning to his cuts and bruises. He was messed up but not TOO messed up.

"Fight. Some kid with some sort of enchanted paper beat me up because I was telling him to stop smoking. I guess they really do start young these days..."
Felix could tell Elatrion was struggling to maintain the conversation.
Oh, well. Some people just have trouble being social, I guess.

She looked at him disbelief shot across her usually hard to read face.
How old was he? Gosh, people at this school really have problems.

She rubbed the top of her aching head, she had forgotten why she had come in here but the pain shot through out her skull reminding her that she had crash landed in the stair well and possibly could be concussed. Oh well, she would talk to the nurse about it when she returning. For the time being if she made a friend, Ata would be proud of her. So she could just have to try harder!
