Reading is a gift

Brielle leaned against a book shelf. Her chin was resting on her knees so that people could pass by if they needed to. A book was open on the floor next to her feet, but she wasn't really reading.

The book-she couldn't remember what it was called-wasn't really holding her attention. It was sort of boring and totally unrealistic. But then what was realistic? She was sitting in the library of a school for kids with powers, she herself having powers.

She stood up, took the book in her hands and slid it back on the shelf. She started walking, reading the titles of the books as she went.

Klay was in the library reading. She liked reading, it took up all the useless time of the days. Her sister loved it, but Klay didn't know if she had found a new hobby or not. She wasn't sitting in any of the chairs, or the recliners, or on the couches. She was exactly one foot away from the ceiling. Of course, the only way to be able to be that close to the ceiling and be reading on your back was to be reading on top of the bookshelfs. Klay had climbed up. Those chairs were too uncomfortable, the recliners to fluffy, and the couches to small. Who could blame her? She was tall and lanky, traits that were good for her ability as an assassin.
She was reading something that had not been touched in a long time. It was a children's novel, but Klay's curiousity outranked her cation when she wasn't trying to kill someone. She looked down at the floor, the people seeming like ants from her view. She turned back to her book. Of course, if someone actually wanted to crane their neck to her high, of course they wouldn't shout, because it was a library, and since she was high, Klay couldn't hear someone when they were talking normally. But, anyway, she had on her mask, just in case. Not that she would ever take it off. That's why she didn't have a dorm, or picked a place that no one knew about.
Maybe one day, when she returned to her home, she could reveal her wings and remove her mask. Her sister would undo the oath, and everything would go back to what it ususally was.

Brielle bumped into a book shelf and groaned inwardly. One of the books from one of the shelves higher up fell off and hit her on the head. She blinked rapidly as tears sprang to her eyes.

She rubbed the top of her head, then tilted her head up. She saw where the book had fallen from. She found a ladder and moved back to the book shelf. She climbed up, book in hand. She slid the book in it's proper place. She stopped moving when she saw a girl sitting on top of the book shelf.

"What are you doing up here?" Though she was whispering, her British accent was still noticeable.

Klay heard her, but ignored her. It as a good part of her book. If this girl was smart, she;d leave her alone. At least, most people talked and talked and talked. They never left her alone. They kept asking why she never talked, why she wore this mask, questions. Just pestering questions. She wished she was home.
She turned the page.

Brielle was annoyed when the girl didn't replied, but that didn't stop her curiousity from taking over. "Is it alright for you to be up here? What if you accidentaly fell off?" She asked. She decided that she would push the girl off if she didn't reply this time.

Just because the girl didn't like talking didn't mean she had the right to ignore people. Bri put on hand on her hip, still holding on to the last rung of the ladder with the other hand.

Klay once again ingnored the girl and turned the page. She was a quick reader. Back home, they didn't have many books. But Klay read what they had, anyway. But they never had people come and bother them like these people. Like this girl. She turned the page agian. New chapter.
Good.

Brielle sighed. Well, the girl deserved what ever she got. She put both hands on the girls arm and getting ready to push. She gripped the ladder run with her feet.

The book dropped of the edge as Klay turned her eyes to this little murderess. She grabbed her hands and knocked the ladder away with her foot.
This girl should not have messed with a trained assassin, capable of killing her in seconds, because she was in range of Klay's power cancellation.
After a few seconds of falling, the book hit the floor. She could drop this girl if she wanted, and she wouldn't be able to use her powers. Klay wouldn't care, it would just be another kill added to her name.

Brielle was not only angry now, but embarrassed as well. She really shouldn't have attempted to push the girl, but she had. She felt a tingling on her arms. That meant she was about to turn invisible. Her arms went first, and then the rest of her. She appeared again moments later, sitting on the floor, the book in her hands.
