Rainy Swim

Jennifer was swimming along, floating on her back here, going under there. But, she always stayed near the shore and her towel, because today looked like rain. She had an umbrella next to her towl. just in case. She finally swam out, her blonde hair sticking down to her neck. As soon as she was out, the thunder started.

As the young girl quickly half-dried off, she opened her large, large umbrella, the pounding rain came down in full buckets. She was glad she brought a big umbrella, because it could fit three people comfortable if needed.

"Stupid rain, now I'll get my feet all muddy."

Reginald had decided to take a walk, and dispite the weather forecast felt it was uncouth for him to take an umbrella. His stubbornness had always lead to his downfall, or was it that he liked the rain. What ever the reason, it began to rain and he had no shelter.

A distance away, Reginald may have found his savior. Making no attempt shield his face from the icey droplets, or any attempt to run...He simply strolled over to the large umbrella and it's rather desirable owner. He believed himself to be a gentleman, to bare no rush or haste.

A soft smile adorned his face, as he faced the lake. Now standing a small distance away, He was drenched. Turning to the young girl under the covers of the open umbrella, Reginald made the first move.

"The Rain...A bittersweet melody..."

Jennifer turned to the student before her. By now, she was shivering in her wet clothes. She looked him over, and, seeing as he was getting wet and she was not, she stepped forward until her umbrella covered him. When he sang, a thought ran through her mind. Even though she dfid not know the words, Jennifer still wanted to sing.

The young girl stopped before she opened her mouth, resisting the rude urge. Of course, she did not want to ruin his words, so she stayed silent. She clenched her teeth to stop them from chattering, but as she spoke, it was quite obvious she was cold.

"H-hi. I'm J-Jennifer."

Reginald let go of the words, to respond to female before him. "eh-Thank you, Miss. Jennifer...your too kind" He said, being way too formal. It wasn't like he was back home. "Reginald Smex-Gerald, at your service..." He added.

Realising in that the way he was speaking, Reginald faced the lake once more. "You know, there is a beautiful musical piece about the rain..." He said, this time ignoring his gentlemanly speech. "Though there are no words, the story is of a father whom finds out his long lost son is dead...and so, asks for the rain...to hide his tears..." Reginald told the girl...

Jennifer was silent as he spoke. She looked down at her feet and held back a shiver. After he was done, she didn't say anything for a few minutes.

"It's sad."

She whispered quietly, hoping she was heard over the rain. His formalness embarresed her, but the deep blush was half hidden from her hair sticking to her face.

A soft mutter coming from Jennifer, though unable to distinguish, Reginald figured the response was like others. He faced her now, smiling. "It's a very nice piece" He spoke, trying to erase any unhappiness that may have been aspired.

The rain showed no sign of ending, Reginald had to keep her entertained alittle longer. "Have you been here long? In Starlight Academy..." He asked, blocking out the cold as best he could.

Jennifer turned to the boy and returned the smile. She shook her head and answered.

"It is still sad though, no one should have to find something and loose it so quickly... No, I've only arrived yesterday. What about you?"

The young girl asked, looking out at the very muddy ground. It was going to be a long, long walk back to the academy.

Jennifer's reply lightly amused Reginald, it is sad to lose someone. Her way of thinking seemed pure. "I've been here just for a couple of days..." He said to Jennifer.

Their surroundings seemed to bare no dry path anywhere, as he looked around. It indeed would be a lengthy travel back to the academy. Reginald began to ponder on their options...

Jennifer nodded and looked around, noting that the rain was getting harder.

"If we don't go back now, then we'll start sinking in the mud."

She wasn't lying, because she continuely had to pull her feet out of the mud and move.

"We can start walking now and get there before we get throughtly soaked and frozen, or I think we can wait for it to stop or lighten up."

Reginald looked down, only to see his shoes rather muddy. He cursed within his thoughts. 2 options: run now, or wait in the cold. The first definitly felt the best...especially since a hot shower called out, not to mention a new pair of dry clothes. "Option number one sounds to be the best choice, Jennifer", he replied, giving his opinion.

Reginald looked at her, wondering what choice she would make...
