The time between classes was usually very short. Most people simply walked from one class to another. This story, however, is far from usual. In fact, to call the occurrence uncommon would not be far off. There was a very colorful girl attending classes on this day. When I say colorful, I mean she had the whole rainbow motif going on. From her hair, to her sleeves, to her roller blades. Yes, she wore rollerblades, even during school hours. As she skated between classes, something unexpected happened. For while she was weaving in-between the other students, she knocked herself and another person over. There was a moment of embarrassment as she righted herself. Being a very caring person, she skated over to this person, and lightly poked them to see if they were alright. With her inability to speak, she was unable to verbally ask this question.

She stared at the group chat on her phone. Jesus, the unfortunately named demon, was thinking of doing what Luca did and becoming a Risen Demon. Chloe had to lay down the law to make sure nobody gave him trouble. Just because he wanted to practice a particular religion didn't mean he was any less of a demon, or that he had any less of a place in the DSU.

As she typed in her comments, she noticed a rainbow streak in her peripheral vision. Before she could react she was stumbling backwards. The first thing to hit the concrete was that sensitive spot at the base of her tail. She yelped. Her tail felt weak, and her backpack was heavy. She would have some trouble getting up.

Now rainbow skater girl was poking her. Chloe wondered if the getup was a gay pride thing - she had seen this girl in one of her classes. Rainbow girl didn't talk much, but most people didn't in lecture halls. Though they weren't in a lecture hall now. Chloe stared at the hand that poked her for a moment, then looked up at rainbow girl.

"Ah, sorry I bumped into you," she said. "I was looking at my phone -" speaking of which, she took a look at it and sighed with relief. "It's not broken."

Chloe wished she would say something, instead of quizzically poking at her.

The girl smiled when her classmate told her that she was alright. Immediately she extended her left hand to her. With her Right, she made the hand signs to spell out her name. R, O, X, Y. After which she pointed to herself. Then, adopting a look of bemused confusion, Roxy pointed to her classmate, while waiting for her to grab hold of the extended hand. As far as speaking, this other person had something to learn about Roxy. Roxy couldn't speak. She was mute. This was a sort of trade off for her power. She could still communicate, however, so all was not lost. That is to say, unless this person didn't know sign language. Roxy didn't mind being a little bit late for class, this time, since she had the opportunity to better acquaint herself with another student in her own graduating class.

Chloe would take Roxy's hand, assuming it was extended like that to help her up. She would appreciate the help right then.

Roxy was several symbols into her name before Chloe realized that this was sign language. The rainbow haired girl wasn't talking because she couldn't speak. "I, ah, don't understand sign language," she said with an awkward chuckle. "I'm Chloe, though. If you can understand me."

She tried to think of a way that they could communicate. "Um, do you have a phone? We could use texts." She would pull her phone out of her pocket and point to it.

After a moment of awkwardness, Roxy's face flushed a pinkish red and she pulled Chloe to her feet. After which, she pulled her phone out from her chest and types a message, before showing it to Chloe. The message read as follows.

"Hi, I'm Roxy. Roxanne Nagase, but everyone just calls me Roxy. Sorry for knocking you over. It's kind of hard to warn people when you can't talk. As far as texting, I would love to get your number. Mine is 377-389-5148."

After allowing some time for Chloe to read the message, Roxy typed a new one.

"Hey, I was thinking, would you maybe, I don't know, want to meet up after class and get something to drink?"

Roxy was feeling a bit light headed, but not in a sick way, more in a feel good sort of way. This was a moment that, embarrassing as it was, Roxy almost didn't want to end.

Chloe had just finished putting Roxy's number into her phone when she saw her second message. It made Chloe laugh with surprise. Of course rainbow-girl would ask her out. She had been sending some serious signals to Chloe's gaydar even before they met.

She stood and considered it for a moment, grinning, amused. "Oh, why not?" She tapped at her phone's screen, and Roxy would receive a text message from an unfamiliar number in the next several seconds: "Sure. What did you have in mind?"

After a moment's thought, Roxy came up with an idea and immediately sent a text to Chloe.

"I was thinking dinner, a movie, and if we have time, maybe go to a club. I'd love to hear your thoughts as well."

Roxy couldn't stop blushing for some reason that she couldn't figure out. She was both happy and nervous, and she didn't know why. After some more thought, Roxy sent another text.

"Now that I think about it, I just realized that we have some classes together. :3"

Roxy giggled a bit after she sent this text. However, she was mostly laughing at herself for not noticing Chloe sooner.

Chloe kept smiling. "I'd love to," she said. A group of students walked past them, on their way to class. Chloe had a few hours until her next one, so she was content to stand and keep talking to Roxy for a while. "I hear there's actually a movie coming out that's a live action version of an anime I used to watch. I don't know if it will be good but I have to see it for myself. Want to give it a try with me?"

She noticed the way Roxy had gotten all flustered, and it delighted her. She might not have done anything like this before.

It seemed as if Chloe already had a movie picked out. This was unexpected, but also pleasant. If anything, Roxy was just happy that she had agreed to go out with her. After taking a moment to calm herself down, Roxy sent another text.

"Sounds great, any preference as far as where we eat? For that matter, do you have any food related allergies that I should know about?"

Roxy couldn't stay calm, try as she might. She was too excited to be calm. A few seconds later, she would send yet another text.

"Oh, and should we eat before or after the movie? Also, when should I pick you up?"

To some, this might seem like a lot of questions, but Roxy was just trying to make sure that all bases were covered.

Chloe watched her phone, reading the messages as Roxy sent them. She began to think about how she could take advantage of this situation - to keep her craving under control, to stop being dependant on her father's club and deceiving strangers. It would be so easy to just hold her hand during the movie or something to take what she needed. And it's not like she would be hurting her, either.

"No allergies," she said, "Let's eat after. And I'm going to hole myself up in the library until late this afternoon, so, I guess, just tell me when we need to leave to see the movie and that would be great."

Dinner after would be better, because Chloe was convinced she wasn't great at small talk. The movie gave them an easy conversation topic.
