Havoc was not the sort of person that most people assumed was going to run for election. He simply wasn't the type. Not interested enough. Not interesting enough. Most of the people in the running were social juggernauts, the captain of the cheerleading team or someone famous on the internet. Havoc was a no one, and yet he'd still managed to pull his weight by doing what few others bothered to do: Focusing entirely on the issues.
He hadn't made comments about his competition. He hadn't offered parties or events. He'd picked two very specific topics and run with them to the very ends of the earth.
Havoc was in the middle of producing posters, using a large paper cutter to cut them as he did. They were stark and rather to the point, but they did detail his points, a fact that many other posters did not.

The young man walked with a little spring in his step. Yes, he'd just come back from a meeting- both with his first love, coffee, and his newfound friend Lucy. Plus, he'd just handed in another assignment, another good grade - needless to say, he was very peppy today.
As he walked down the main hall of the dorms, he glanced at all the student prez papers. Flyers, he corrected himself. Some had funny slogans, others had pictures of faces, and others still had interesting color schemes. They were all very flashy. Grinning, he stopped to read one with a generic slogan. It was always the same thing, anyways - "VOTE [NAME]! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!"
Ah, democracy. It was the same thing. Patterns, he thought.
But there was one flyer that stood out distinctly - precisely because it didn't stand out - or wasn't meant to. Curious, he walked up to one and - ohhh.
Ohhh. He laughed. He was right. These flyers had Havoc written all over them. Not literally, but the style of it just screamed Havoc. Very organized, professional-looking, no sign of slander anywhere. That was Havoc - honest and clean.
Then again, he hadn't seen much of his flyer out there yet. Hmm - OH. Right. He was supposed to be dropping off his bag and picking up his resume... which he'd forgot on his bed. Again.

Havoc had worked his way through multiple iterations of his posters. The first few had too much detail, and were too hard to process at a glance. The later iterations had less detail, but he'd forgotten to put any contact information on.
The one he was working on right then was his final version. It kept things brief, outlining his two big points, and included his name. He hadn't bothered with a picture--he realized he was rather boring to look at compared to most--and instead used the space for a 'contact if you have questions' section.
Even so, it felt a bit boring. There had to be something else. An image? A graphic? Maybe he should put his face on it.
Havoc found himself staring down at the poster for far too long, and eventually resolved himself to simply ask someone who would probably know better then he would.
Popping his head out of his room, he found... nothing.
Nix wasn't there.
Havoc furrowed his eyebrows together, trying to remember if Nix was supposed to be there. Wasn't he done with class?

And at that moment, the door came swinging open as a particularly peppy Nix stepped through, shouldering his heavy bookbag as he went. With his usual gusto he set it down, and then plopped down onto the couch, sighing. "Yo, Havoc? You in here, bud?" he asked to the seemingly empty living room. Huh, yeah. Great logic - yelling at an empty room, asking if someone was there.

Havoc was, in fact, in there, although he'd temporarily retretaed to his room upon discovering that Nix wasn't home.
Only he was, so the issue had resolved itself as far as Havoc was concerned.
"Yes," Havoc called, collecting his poster from his desk as he stepped out into the shared space. "I was looking for you for advice for my poster."
It was only then that it occurred to Havoc that Nix might not know he was running for student council, even though he did already have posters up.
"Did you know I was running for president?"

Nix chuckled. Havoc? Wanting his advice? The very thought of someone wanting his advice was funny. Although, Havoc seemed very serious about it. As he did with everything. Not sure the guy had a sense of humor, really. Advice on posters...
"Yeah," nodded Nix as he got up again. "You mentioned somethin' about it early on. And I saw some posters outside." Another chuckle. "Really, they scream 'you' on them. Uh, that's to say they match your personality. I figured you needed a little help makin' 'em pop and stand out from the rest." Pulling out a spare piece of paper and a barely-working pencil, he glanced at Havoc. "So, whatcha lookin for? I won't change anything on the thin itself, just the design."

Havoc did not, in fact, have a sense of humor. He'd grown up without one, and any attempts to make him laugh were generally met by blank looks and occasionally with confusion. No matter how many puns Nix tried, he wasn't going to get much response.
"You were correct," Havoc said, holding out his latest poster design. "I am unsure how I would make my poster... stand out." Which was what he supposed Nix meant by making it 'pop'. Nix seemed like he'd have a better eye for it, although Havoc had no idea how artistic (if at all) he was.
"But I have no idea how I would go about doing that, so I thought it would be helpful to ask someone else."
Someone like his roommate, who was both handy and seemingly intelligent.

"Unsure... So it's more a question of design choices. Uh. Okay. Let's uh, start with your favorite color scheme. I've got reds, blues... Oh, greens might work well, too. Oh! Maybe i should getcha a logo." And so the rambling began, as Nix began to sketch, talking animatedly about the subject. No, he wasn't a major in design... but he had an old friend that was, and he'd learned a lot from her. Mostly color wheels and applications.... Okay, let's be honest - he was BSing a lot of it, hoping he at least had some sense. Well, he had a people sense - that had to count for something, right?
Wait, he was going overboard.
Finally, he stopped. "But uh... It's up to you, whatever you want to do works." Cue the sheepish smile. Intelligent? Ha. He was a comedic idiot.

Havoc was feeling perfectly happy with his choice to have asked Nix, because already Nix was going over his head. There was talk of logos and clashing and color schemes and every single bit was flying right over his head.
Havoc was as artistic as a rock, and when Nix suddenly cut himself off to look to him for permission, Havoc simply waved it off.
"I trust your judgement," Havoc said firmly. "I know you wouldn't design something that might cause trouble."
And that was, realistically speaking, Havoc's only concern. He didn't really care how it looked. As long as it had some design going on, it would probably be better then the plain text version he'd put together, and as long as it wasn't embarrassing... well, he didn't care.
"You seem quite passionate about it," Havoc observed.

"Yeah." He nodded, taking out a thermos from his bag and taking a quick swig. "Common sense, obviously." Now, where to start? The plain text of this was saying something.... he just didn't know what. Nix chuckled at Havoc's comment about him being passionate about the subject, setting his thermos on the floor beside the couch. "Yeah, it's uh.... hobby of mine, I guess. Knew it from a friend back home, showed me a lotta tips 'n tricks. Design dos, don'ts. That sort of thing." Setting it down, he picked up another pen. "Got a favorite color?" Nix asked, starting to doodle a design on the paper in front of him. "Actually, hold on. Do you have a spare piece of paper?"
