There was a very specific spot that needed a poster. When you entered the stairs, it was directly in your line of sight, and thus the perfect place for a poster. It would attract attention from every high school student who took classes on the second floor, and Havoc had decided he wouldn't rest until there was a poster there.
The problem was that the spot was easily ten feet in the air, and Havoc had no powers which would let him stick it up. He was going to have either find someone who could, or else ask for a ladder.
It was for that reason that he'd headed towards the nearest staff room, knocking ever so politely at the door with his face in his customary-for-elections smile. A bit too stiff, a bit too fake, but perfectly serviceable in short interactions.
Now he just needed a member of the staff.

A tentacle with a pair of sunglasses seemed to rise from the floor, from a hole in space itself. It kept rising until it reached eye level. A second tentacle appeared from the wall to adjust the sunglasses, so that they were facing Havoc. The second tentacle quickly disappeared from sight.
"SALUTATION." The deep, booming monotone seemed to come from everywhere around Havoc at once.

Havoc's brain broke when the door opened.
Well, not exactly broke, but he simply could not comprehend what he was seeing. There was just... nothing. And then there was... a tentacle.
And then there were sunglasses.
"Huh?" Havoc said, so mystified that even Havoc was having an emotion, unable to process what he was seeing.
There was simply confusion, his eyes fixed on the sunglasses, and on the tentacles.
Well, tentacle.

Perhaps the student was confused because Goodall used the word 'salutation.' He had heard from another professor that students often had trouble with polysyllabic words like that one, especially before they reached the college level.
"HELLO," Goodall added. For clarity's sake.

The... thing was very loud. Havoc didn't know what it was. He didn't know if it was an alien, or a creature, or a very confusing prank being performed on him. Either way it was confused.
Thankfully, Havoc was fairly good at adapting, and after a brief moment of confusion, Havoc simply dropped back to normal, his smile forgotten. He was blank, a blank slate without any expression, and he simply acted as normally as one could under the circumstances.
"I'm trying to hang a poster," Havoc said, unclear on where he should have been looking. "I was hoping to get a ladder so that I could hang it, since I need to hang it too far off the ground to reach."

"You're being too loud again." Another faculty member looked up from his copying. He seemed to be made entirely out of plant matter. He also seemed to sparkle, as though covered in glitter.
"Apology," Goodall said at a much more reasonable volume. "I can still do a help. I do not requiring of ladder please identify poster posting post and I will relocate poster yes." Another tentacle appeared in the doorway. It was bent in a sort of crook shape, ready to grip the poster if it was handed over. "Can post," Goodall added for extra clarification.

Havoc was operating entirely on autopilot, his brain caught in a loop. He couldn't quite get past the what is happening part. It was... it was a thing? It had tentacles. ANd it was talking, even though it did not have a mouth. Or mouths.
Havoc mechanically handed over the poster, gesturing down at the hallway even as his brain screamed internally.
"The second hallway on the left. The entrance to the stairs looks directly at the bare wall, which seemed like a good place for a poster," he explained.
His brain kept right on screaming.
Of all the complaints that could be made about Havoc, doesn't ask questions was not one of them.
"Do you have a body, or are you just... tentacles?" Havoc asked, unsure of where to look.

"Am four dimensional," he said in his monotone. "You are three dimensional. My body is right next to you but you cannot do comprehends of which direction. Is not in three dimensional space. My limbs just reach in. It is a complicate."
It was getting kind of frustrating, having to explain basic things about himself to everyone he meets. Maybe he could ask someone to make a poster about him so that people would ask less.
Out of view, in the hallway where Havoc wanted it, the poster was being held in position by two tentacles. It was upside down. "Is poster of good positioning?"

Havoc was not an academic by any sense of the word. He didn't really get fourth dimensional, and Havoc stared into the space where the tentacles had been, and then trotted out towards where he'd directed the creature.
Was it appropriate to refer to a member of the faculty (in theory, anyway) as a 'creature'? It seemed more fitting then anything else.
"Isn't the fourth dimension time?" Havoc said, genuinely unclear on what constituted the fourth dimension. "Or is this... I guess..."
Nope, he couldn't handle it.
"It's upside down," he said without pause as he entered the stairwell, staring up at where the tentacles seemed to blink into reality itself.

"No, it is not time. If you are doing a want of be very technical, time can be called of dimension. But in space you are having of three dimension and I am doing have four dimension. You have one less space dimension than I do." Goodall had never thought of considering time as a dimension until he spoke to the humanoid physicists. He supposed it was a useful way of thinking about space and time, but it bothered him.
The poster was upside down, though. "Multiple oop." The tentacles and the poster disappeared, then reappeared, with the poster in the correct orientation. Other tentacles appeared, these holding tape. "Is it acceptable for me to do an attachment." It was meant as a question, but he said it like a statement.
